Hi. Yesterday, the music app suddenly stopped working. I was using earphones. The songs, playlists, albums... are still there. But nothing happens when I press play. I cleared cache, force stop, restarted phone. Still it's not working. However, the google play music app is working just fine. So it's just the huawei default built in music app that's not working. Any ideas?

Same exact issue but this happened about last week for me. There is no reaction when I press play I even cleared the cache, fiddled with the filter settings, and anything else I can think of. Google app is working fine too.
I reported here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/help/music-stopped-update-t3791570
The solution does not work. tried, and tried. The only solution I found is to listen to youtube radio.

SO, problem solved for me. After the new update (MHA-L29 8.0.0.0.374(C185)) a couple of days ago, the music app is working again.

What did you buy? Do you mean the phone? Mine just showed the update by itself since I have auto-check set on in the settings. (You can check it by settings >system >system update).

Whenever I open the app, I can't scroll through the list of artist or albums without every album cover flashing on and off. It's almost impossible to find a song now (I could go to a list of songs, but there are 14,000 of them to scoll through).
I've re-installed the app a couple of times and it works for a while, but then it flashes on and off again. Anyone had this problem and fixed it?
Atleast i am not alone... i posted this weeks ago.
I too have about 10k of music on Gmusic... it seems it is constantly loading up the album covers. flashing on and off.
The only fix i have which is not a fix is if i am really inpatient needing music right away i have to go to settings/app/ g music and clear data. but you still have to wait a few mins for everything to load back up
Or recently when i turn it on and if it is flashing ( i am assuming because i always turn off wifi ) it must have to reload everytning- I go to tune in radio and play a song and usually after one song i go back to gmusic and everything is loaded and flashing has stopped.
I have not heard of any permanent fixes. I have even tried to uninstall and reinstall gmusic--doesnt work.
Patience is my only work around right now.....

Sorry about that--I did a search earlier and came up empty.
Thanks for the "fixes." Does clearing all the data delete the music on my SD card? I've been reluctant to try it b/c it seems that it would. I'll try the Tune-in Radio fix.

no it wont wipe your sd. After you do it you will need to go back into gmusic setting and connect your gmail account to pull music from.
Hi guys,
Recently I have issues with Google play all access playing downloaded files. The sound stops, but the time keeps ticking as if it is playing. If I turn the screen off, the music plays fine. If I stream through the same app, as opposed to downloaded music, it's also fine.
I did a factory reset which totally fixed the issue, but came back only a few weeks later.
Short of continuous factory resets, any ideas? This is obviously incredibly annoying.
Other players play local music fine, but as I own very little music, it's all streamed, this wouldn't really work as an alternative...
Thanks in advance!
Galaxy s6 running 5.1.1 un rooted
Since Nougat arrived on my T-Mobile Galaxy S7, the Google sound search app crashes while recognizing the song title. Have installed and uninstalled the app with no success.
Anyone have any ideas?
Registered to reply here. Exact same deal. Cleared cache / data, uninstalled and reinstalled. Might have to find an alternative for the time being.
Exact problem is that it starts listening and plotting its graph, then just stops updating.
I have the same issue. Nothing online seems to address this. After update to Nougat, Sound Search began freezing at the point it recognizes the song. Tried uninstall/reinstall. Tried reboot phone. Nothing works. Very frustrating. Samsung Galaxy S7.
So my problem comes when I try to recognize any song and I go to google search and I say "ok, google" comes up and I tell google to listen to the music to recognize the song, the search starts doing its thing but never tells me the song is playing, any solution?
I've got the same problem. Was any of you able to solve it?
bump for help. widespread issue on nougat
Was anyone able to solve this problem?
So after updating my phone evrytime I try installing Spotify app from play store in fails.
I have tried clearing cache, wiped partition cache.
Any help would be much appreciated!
That's something that you have to submit to Spotify about. Their app is probably not compatible for android 11 yet, unless error is bug from Google play store. Which happens to me some times, but I just reboot phone or so and it usually works or wait few mins.

I have no problem with Spotify premium and Deezer Hi-Fi
Hi,
From yesterday when I goto manage apps and device in the app store, go into the app update bit and start any updates Google play crashes.
It still does the updates though.
I've tried updating Google play (it's the latest version). I've cleared cache and data, rebooted and it still continues to do this.
I've never seen this before in years of Android use. Any idea?
Have this going on as well. Wiped storages and seemed OK for a couple minutes, then started doing it again. Looks like this is potentially becoming an issue.
Seems to be fixed now with me not doing anything. I guess some server issue......
