I am currently running Sailfish OS 2.0.4, but would love to run Lineage OS 14.1 until I find time to build a more up to date Sailfish OS image.
The only thing keeping me from running LOS14.1 on my not so bright and shiny new Nexus 5 is the battery life. It's usable on Sailfish OS, but I can't imagine how bad it'd be on Lineage OS 14.1. Coming from my Photon Q, Sailfish OS is a life giver of battery life, and while I love Lineage OS 14.1, the battery life was just GARBAGE with google services and apps (which, if I am going to use android again, I might as well go full retard and use google assistant and stuff). For referance of how I use my phone:
Only social media I use are:
Discord, 4chan client
I keep mobile data at 3G if possible, 4G isn't much faster in my experience.
I typically use my phone for 1-2 hours of screen on time a day, but sometimes amp it up to 3-4, but rarely.
I almost never use bluetooth
I only play casual games occasionally

Hello. So I am currently running an OPO on 5.1.1 with AK kernel and I get a solid 5:30 SoT with lots of restrictions (CPU frequency). My device is rooted with TWRP installed. I ask, is it worth reverting back to CM11 on 4.4.4? I'm looking for features and battery life mainly. I might change themes and kernels. But only on CyanogenMod ROM. If CM11s is the way to go, may a good kernel be recommended to go with it? Thanks for the help.
Well at this point 11S is pretty outdated, with CM13 already being out. CMOS12 is pretty good but getting a different CM12 or CM13 based ROM is best way to go in my eyes. I have tried going back to KK just to see what it is like and I couldn't use it because I had gotten used to how Lollipop and Marshmallow are. Also I don't think the increase in battery life is worth the loss of features with CM11S.
You should stay on cm12.1 and play with your kernel setting little bit!
I'd say give MahdiROM 2.9 a shot. It's CM11 and gives me great battery life, as well as being packed full of features. Even ran tests with play services forcing my phone to stay awake 100% of the time and can still push 5-7 hours SoT depending on usage. 7+ with that fixed up. ZaneZam's boeffla kernel builds for it work extremely well and I can honestly say I prefer it for CM11 even though I'm an avid AK user.
What about Boeffla Kernel? Is it better than AK?

There is no better or best kernel. There is just a kernel that fits your preferences.
I can only say that at least with my personal usage, the battery life did not change a bit going from kitkat, over lollipop, to marshmallow.
6h SOT is the bare minimum I get on regular usage no matter what. I've seen 8h SOT on K, L and M.
Always CM11/12/12.1/13 with stock kernel and stock settings, no undervolting, underclocking, Greenify or other bull**** apps. Also I don't use apps which are known for drain like facebook.
Seeing threads like this, I often think that users drain the most battery by constantly looking for tweaks and updates to reduce battery consumption.
Alibi screenshots from an early unofficial cm13 build:
There is almost no drain over night, same on data only.

Maybe your device got powerful battery and your app list isn't huge, otherwise most people struggle to get 6 hr sot on L & M. ?

Any changelog with those roms ? Is there any difference between those and RR/LOS ?
I will try the latest Mokee in a few hours and get back to you. Hopefully it's derived from the latest LOS source so it has good battery and stability, but we'll see.

Looking forward to your review!
Hands on Mokee 7.1.2 31/8
We are getting closer to a bug free experience! The main issue I have with Mokee is that there is no display calibration built in. It's kind of standard these days and in all other Nougat roms. Still, I just had to download FK Manager and root the device to be able to calibrate the display. Other than that I also feel there are a few bloat apps, for instance Substratum and Xposed. I have nothing against the apps per say, but I don't use them. Thankfully they can be inactivated even without root. The only other issue I've found is that the compass is totally whack still, but I'm sure it'll be fixed soon.
I've only tested the rom for about half a day, but battery seems to be very good. Up to par with at least LOS 28/8 and not far from MIUI standards. The phone hasn't even gotten hot under the time I've tested the rom.
About performance, I got 60199 points in Antutu which seems very good for a beta rom. Other than surfing the web and recording videos I really don't do that many demanding tasks, but the whole experience is fluid as far as I can tell.
The stock camera seems to finally be fixed... again. In RR 10/8 camera worked fine, but then in LOS 28/8 videos were very dark and had a lot of artifacts. In Mokee 31/8 I really can't complain about image or video quality, it's great actually. A bit better than MIUI in my opinion
The stock camera still has the same issues, dark video recording at least. I will use Bacon Camera until it's fixed.
I can't comment on the issues people have with finger prints and if the issue has been fixed or not. I can only say that it's working perfectly fine for me.
I will stay on Mokee 31/8 for the time being. It's very close to a stock Android experience when all the bloat is inactivated. I would love some more features and settings to play around with, but I prefer a fully working rom over all the bells and whistles. It's without a doubt a daily driver, unless you really need a working compass!
Update 2017-09-02
After more than a full days of use I got pretty tired of Mokee. Still not a bad rom per say, but there seems to be some issues with deep sleep. Left it with over 70% battery during the night, when I woke up around six hours later it was down to around 50%. I'm not sure why and to be honest I really don't have the time to work it out. Instead I'm back on LOS 28/8 for the time being. I will keep an eye on Mokee and every other Nougat rom coming out since we're so close to having a fully working and bug free rom!
Anyone tested flyme os yet?
Hi guys, Today i want to share with you my experience with the stock out the box android nougat 7.1.1 in only 2 days
Firstable i want to say battery life is now like when i buy new this phone, i got 8+ hours full usage and 30 percent battery left display at medium brightness
Apps compatibilty are running great, android nougat still very functional
I test oreo and the pie and i have to recognize PIE is horrible performance in games and battery life drops at 4+ to 20 percent display at medium brightness so i have to keep a power bank in my back
Oreo its OK but still poor for running games like fortnite. have a 6+ hours full usage with medium brightness
But android nougat runs very very well in fortnite, no lag maxed out, can be really playable experience. in apps like waze its flying, GPS running so well, its precisely and its fast to get the exact location, in camera i have again time lapse and options that oreo and pie don't have. Fingerprint its precisely again
i really dissapointed with the android updates, so now im glad to i found nougat firmware in internet.
So have to wait a android update that works fine
If you can't get back pie to nougat , firstable you have to downgrade to oreo update in recovery before you flash in OTA
how to downgrade to nougat please i have ta-1004 and the battrry and games are worst compared to oreo.
Screen stuttering on simple games, forgetting fingerprints and alarm sounds...even "deleting" alarm sounds...WiFi randomly gone...Im quite dissapointed about the Nokia 8 right now.

You need to first do a factory reset, if that does'nt work, you have to flash
sold that trashy buggy nokia 8 never looking back borring phone nothing to offer .
Hey guys, I've started with my OP6 on OOS. I switched to havoc 8.0 and then to havoc 9.0. I'm now still on havoc, but looking to change rom due to bad active and idle battery. Stats are shown at the end. I went back to OOS for a bit, but there weren't enough features like havoc for me to stick with it. I've seen liquid remix, looks good and I'm thinking of switching. Can anyone tell me if the battery is any good? What kernel did you use and what settings did you enable?
My ROM is causing my phone to be way too buggy so I need to reflash. The question, with 10 out, what ROM should I get?
Im currently on 7.1.2 so I want to go beyond that
I understand the outdated "test and see which is best" XDA mentality but my phone is for my job and I work all day so I can't be with a buggy phone and be testing, wiping, etc. every day/hours; I need a working phone and stable features. Switching phones is something on the table but honestly, there isnt a phone for me: S10+ gets its warrant voided if flashed and the Oneplus 7 Pro is missing a 3.5mm plus has no water rating. I really like the F(x)tec Pro1 but I need some more information before I jump the gun on a unknown maker.
Things I need is
* Bluetooth hands free MUST work.
* GPS must work
* Camera and its flashlight must work
* Data (4G/WiFi) must work
* I need battery life to maintain a stable level; I can't be carrying powerbanks or stuff like that.
* Responsive; The phone is showing its age but it must be able to keep doing simple tasks as fluid as it can
* Bluetooth hands free MUST work. (Yes, its that important)
What do you recommend?
Thanks
have you already tried LineageOs 16? It is very responsive and I have not encountered any major bug: This is why i am using it as my daily driver.
But I have no idea if Bluetooth hands free works to be honest, because I have no way to test it out.

For battery life and responsiveness, I would keep sultan's 7.1.
Right now I'm using Tugapower (Android 9). Pretty stable and everything you mentioned works just fine. There's a random reboot occasionally, but it might be some APP (it's very rare so I didn't mind to track). Also, battery life isn't as good as sultan's 7.1, but my battery is already 5 years old and accubattery estimate it to be at 2300mah (74%).

Fair enough. I would need someone to chime in how their Bluetooth hands free works but thank you for your input.

I cant play around with battery life being upstable or unsure.
You will get huge screen off batery drain in 9.0 roms. I tried everything and no success. I am using sultanxda 7.1, lightning kernel new 57 and magisk. Magisk Modules are FDE.AI and dns switcher (keweon dns). I get 4 hour SOT in wifi and 3 in mobile data. Batery effectively around 70%. Performance its pretty good.
I use bluetooth headset to make calls since my mic is broken and i had bo problems.
