Data recovery/bootloop - Sony Xperia XZ Questions & Answers

Hi everyone!
I have a big and serious problem with my Xperia XZ. Xperia XZ (F8331) Android: 8.0.0 41.3.A.2.107, ROM and Kernel stock. I got an update on March (security patches) and my phone caught a bootloop This is unusual boot loop, because XZ's working for 4 seconds and begin reboot. The biggest problem is with my internal storage! I haven't got a backup.... (I know it's my fault....) I need all data from my phone. This is the most important thing for me. that recovery all my data. I tried refresh via Flashtool (without any wipe options), unfortunately, the problem remained. Also I tried with previous version Oreo and the same.... Official Sony Service Center i my country (Poland) can't save my data. In this situation I wanted to flash TWRP on Locked Bootloader, mount Partition and send all data to my computer. But I can't found method with Locked Bootloader, I also looked for way with Unlocked Bootloader, but I can't do backup Partition TA (DRM keys). The only method I know is do backup via ADB and USB debugging, but thanks to Bootloop I can't do this... I'm afraid of if unlock bootloader I will lose DRM keys :/ That's why I am asking you for help what to do? I don' t know maybe, flash nougat (downgrade without wipe) and do backup TA or send data via MTP or maybe there is a other way to do TA backup the via ADB and USB debugging. I am asking you for help in recovering the all data from my phone and recuse them. Thank you for any answer. Best regards.

Unlocking the bootloader wipes internal memory anyway, so that is not an option.
I suggest you flash a FTF with all wipes except internal memory.

I don' t know, what are meant these wipe options like SSD, QNOVO etc. That's why I did not touch them. I need to try this. I must ask again. I must choose all wipe options except wipe userdata as I chose in the picture?

Ok. I was factory reset. Now I want to use dr.fone (data recovery), but the program inform me that the phone will be rooted. I'm afraid of my DRM keys, I tried to do Backup TA, but the Toolkit want SU binary..... In order to root I need to unlock the bootloader then I will lose DRM keys.... Is there a way to do backup TA partition on my XZ without root permissions??

No - but look at my [Guide].
There is also a hint on how to just boot TWRP after unlocking the bootloader.
I would not touch dr.fone
Doing a short websearch finds many problems with it.
After you did a factory reset there should not be anything left to recover...

Rooting Problem!

Hi all, having a problem rooting my inspire 4g, when in Fastboot , it shows the phone is S-OFF but I have no root access.
I used the root checker app, and it says that my device is not rooted. I then used EasyAceRootTool, but when I select to root
my device, it says that ''the hboot needs to be updated'' and it then starts a download from HTCDEV. I have tried using this software
several times but my device is still not rooted.

I think it may also be worth mentioning that it was previously rooted but, got stuck on the white HTC screen and I had to flash the stock kernel
If someone could help me out would really really apricate it, as it has me pulling my hair out
thanks

Kenneth, if you are already S-OFF unlocking the bootlader will remove that. You just need to flash SU in CWM recovery and flash CWM first if you don't have a custom recovery. Choose flash CWM in the tool and then SU...you should be fine after that.

[Q] Unable to get to the android menu.

I'm not that experienced in this new htc development stuff nowadays, because it's been long time I havent browsed forums closely. Anyways a friend has this One SL phone, and somehow it's bricked and asked me to help him repair it, because I owned htc phone before and was more experienced (which I doubt now).
Here's the problem i'm facing and hoping someone could point me to some information where to start from. Device is S-On and haven't been rooted or bootloader unlocked or any thing else, its totally stock with stock recovery and rom. After powering the phone it boots ok, but when I get to lockscreen and try to unlock it it gives me some errors like : com.android.settings has stopped and beneath that message is another one which is hard to read because this one getting all the time, Unfortunately, System UI has stopped.
I tried to hard reset from bootloader because I cant get to recovery from there it gives me a sign and not getting any recover. So I only did factory reset several times, and clear data but that doesn't fix anything. I got some pictures of the error and bootloader screen if that can help anyone to give me some more information.
Btw i'm trying to find out what is the stock rom for this phone but can't find out how to get that information from a non fully working system. If that is possible I would flash stock rom and see if it will fix the problem.
I wrote a lot of text but I wanted to clarify the situation in my way.
Here are the pictures I took:

You can unlock the device, flash a custom recovery and flash a stock rom.
If you are locked, you can do pretty nothing.
is the SIM card good?

Do you mean locked like Sim locked or bootloader locked? If you mean Sim locked it is sim unlocked accepts all sim cards. If you mean bootloader how to unlock it can you guide me.
russellvone : It was without sim card inside when I made picture that's why it shows Emergency only.
Bootloader unlocked.
Go to www.htcdev.com and follow the steps there.

Ok I followed the steps and get the bootloader unlocked It says ***UNLOCKED *** but under that I still have SHIP S-ON . Can I use any shipped rom to flash this device now or what should I do if you can help me out.
Now you have to flash custom recovery (TWRP recovery) with fastboot.
Look into my index thread, you can find a link to the newest TWRP there.

Oh and, I have CF Auto Root and I use only Titanium Backup if that matter.
You must be 100% stock, unrooted to accept the update.
fastboot flash stock system.img then re-root.

What? that doesn't gonna solve my problem because I'm not gonna flash a system again and lose my data.
Thats an headache for me.
Many people have this problem, Read here:

Even unrooted stock devices. And I'm 100% stock rooted.
With fastboot flash system.img you don't lose anything of your data, only root.

Then flash a custom 5.0.1 rom with a custom recovery or you can never update BTW the update from 4.4.4 to 5.0(.1) is quite big so a full wipe after the flash is required or you`ll have fc`s all over the board.

I suppose you're not really familiar with this. Your data is not stored in /system. fastboot flashing a system.img only installs to /system. Only fastboot flashing userdata.img would overwrite your data, which you may note that I did not advise you to do.
Have a read of the "adb and fastboot" thread in General > Sticky roll-up

S7 International g930f - Cant install Stock Boot Image after Frp Unlock & More

Hey Xda,
I have an S7 International G930f and the stock boot image wont flash in odin without bootloop, after frp unlock. So basically ive flashed the G930F(ENGroot) file, but the second part, flashing the boot img isnt flashing without bootloop.
So yeah- my phone is acting weird, im surprised it even works.
Running Stock Rooted 6.0.1 with TWRP
I've rooted/recoveried many a Samsung, but all this Dmverity, FRP unlock, these newer protocols have me confused.
I've got OEM unlock ON which is still a tad new to me-coming from S5. Unknown Sources Enabled. FRP Lock shows as OFF.
I've followed an FRP unlock guide-XDA here but the boot image wont take. Tried many times. Maybe its my July 1st Security patch?
Can someone tell me what i need to do to get this phone to where it is FRP unlocked, dmverity gone, keep root/recovery and update it?
p.s. I'm getting tons of bugs, random reboots, and WiFi passwords aren't saved on reboot. Plz help!
Thank you!

Thanks for the reply. If you are referring to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/development/recovery-official-twrp-herolte-t3333770 thats what i followed.
But i did have some confusion about this section below from said thread. Im not sure what OP means by "if you only want a bootable system partition". Of course i would like this to be bootable, AND i would like to install SuperSU.
Its worded strange. Ok lets assume i did this incorrectly. Would you suggest i start over, factory wipe, then move forward with that threads directions?
If twrp and super su are already installed and working, but i dont have the right boot.img flashed, should i start all over or start somewhere in particular?
10. If you want to be rooted with SuperSU:
Download the latest SuperSU by Chainfire.
Without exiting TWRP, transfer the SuperSU zip to your device over MTP* and flash it using [Install] in TWRP.
You will need an external SDcard for this method, if you don't have one you will have to use adb sideload to install SuperSU.
If you only want a bootable system partition:
Download the latest dm-verity and force encryption disabler zip.
Without exiting TWRP, transfer the no-verity-opt-encrypt zip to your device over MTP* and flash it using [Install] in TWRP.
Note: This does not disable the forced encryption on Bxxx firmware, only Axxx firmware due to a change in vold by Samsung.

"if you only want a bootable system partition" means if you don't want to flash SuperSU, but want your phone to boot correctly with TWRP installed, if you don't follow that step, regardless of SuperSU, your phone is a soft brick
Flash TWRP
Wipe Data (Yep, to disable encryption, so backup first)
Flash DM-Verity~zip
Flash Super-SU.zip
Reboot

In attempting to get root on this device, no method I tried had worked. So my idea was to do a custom recovery twrp to try to install SuperSU update through it.
If anyone can install twrp or root, be sure to tell them here for everyone to get.

Maybe someone will have an answer to this but after searching online (product site included) I cannot define the difference between the G070EQ and the G070Q Blu Grand M models. For purposes of firmware and the fact my daughter bought and hashed these cheap dang phone and I'm a sucker for a challenge.
Thanks!
I do hope someone has this file in backup
So they could do op a favor and reupload in a zip or sorts
Cause i do not know why everytime i try to downloaf it , its always corrupted
It was just our internet.... For some reason, have the files now, thanks

The recovery is being replaced. To fix this you will lose all personal data on the phone and you have to erase userdata. There are other ways as well.
To get around this, flash system img and right after flash recovery twrp and in the same sequence don't reboot phone but boot in via flash -c boot to the same recovery. Delete the cache. dalvik and userdata and it should make TWRP stick. This is not really a TWRP issue and will do the same with any recovery.
Help solve the problem with Blu Grand m
Generally does not turn on, when charging is connected, only 0.4 is given then 0, and from time to time the screen with the Blu logo is lit. I tried to flash the result did not give, what can it be?
Thanks for your help and the post, ironically when I reinstall the ROM is when the root access is removed. Do we we need a custom ROM?
