I have the US Unlocked S7 and the option to identify spam callers is grayed out
Anyone know why/how to enable it
Some carriers run their own spam caller service you have to pay extra for, and disable the functionality in their phones to make you pay. Is yours running the G930U firmware and CSC?
Even if it has been unlocked, it could still be running the carrier specific firmware
Yes I am running G930U firware and CSC and I doubt it would be due to my carrier as I am in Trinidad on Digicel

I found out this week during the fire storms in southern California my unlocked SM-G930F doesn't receive any of these emergency messages. In fact, all references on how to turn them on/off lead you to either the Messages App or Settings of which the option to turn/off isn't there. Of course, the phone only a year old and bought through Amazon so that I can have an unlocked phone is not supported by Samsung. Oh what a surprise?
I didn't want to upload all new firmware, just an app that wil allow the option to turn them on/off or gate me to the feature. The assumption here is that Samsung makes bricks in the S7 variety that are designated by either the modulation hardware(cdma/gsm/tdma) and the firmware to support it. The rest would be just application??? Hence a GSM phone is a brick and the OS is specifically written for large carriers and or specific regions are transferred on pushes.
Is there anything out here that will enable the WEA on the phone?
I would assume WEA comes through the carrier, which means you'd need to flash the CSC for your carrier (assuming you haven't already). Since the G930F is an international model, if you bought it directly from Samsung and never added your own carrier settings to it, I don't think it would know to relay emergency messages.
There's a flashable zip with CSC's in the development section
Hi,
I have a problem with my Samsung Galaxy S8+ (G955F) model. The phone shows Carrier ID: VOD (I guess means Vodafone/Product Code) in Odin Mode in Red Color, the phone is unlocked working on one carrier in all LTE/3G/2G networks but on other carrier it only works in LTE/3G modes and when i switch it to 2G only it doesn't register to a network on this second carrier and as long as i Turn it Back to LTE/3G/2G it registers but to only LTE or 3G.
I believe it is some kind of a partial carrier lock where the phone is locked on some carriers in different network modes.
Its not registering to 2G on Telenor Pakistan Network while it registers on LTE/3G/2G perfectly fine on Zong CMPak.
The phone doesnt require any kind of carrier unlock code or something.
Is there any way to work this around??? I have installed UK BTU Firmware from Sammobile, already debranded and works perfectly fine just not working in 2G mode on this one carrier.
Is there any way to change this product code or something while being on official Stock Firmware?
My Current Service Provider Version is: PAK/PAK/VOD
I want to change this to PAK/PAK/PAK and remove that Carrier ID: VOD thing from the odin mode display.
Please help!!!!!
hi did you find a solution??
Nopes. I just had to change my phone after all the things I tried, It won't go so I had no other option.

CSC Value cant be just XAA. It should be something like ***/***/XAA so give the correct CSC and also check the bands on which your Carrier is broadcasting 5G. Who is your carrier / servce provider, Sunrise?
You have to reset your CSC to your home provider in order to get 5G.
Try this: Goto Settings, then About Phone. Write down your IMEI number. Open the dialer and enter *#272*IMEInumber# then press Dial, you should see a screen with the list of available CSC codes for your device. Select the CSC for your carrier (hopefully it is listed) and then tap install. It should not do a factory reset but if you have important data, you might want to back up your phone first. Post if this works for you. This works in Canada if you buy a phone from one carrier and switch to another.

Are you sure your bands are effective for your country?
I believe the usa device's are Snapdragon based and the eu versions are Exynos.
Somewhere I've seen a message with this 'same' band problems due to this difference. I'm not sure if this is still a difference. Please compare band channels.
Forgive me if this has been covered but I havn't found the answer. I've flashed just about every phone I've ever had but my question here is can I / how do I flash to where the phone reads as XAA in download Mode?
The situation is my phone was originally on at&t. They unlocked it and I'm on Verizon. It all works great (it still says at&t on download Mode screen)
My problem is that if I log into the my Verizon app it disables my visual voicemail. I finally got a Verizon tech on the phone that explained that it is unsupported due to originally being on a different carrier and their system identifies that and disables the VVM. The only fix I can find is to put my sim in my backup S9+ that came from Samsung unlocked (or any Verizon phone) and I can then reactivate my VVM by resubscribing.
I currently have 3 Note 20 Ultras. One Each originally from Samsung, ATT and Verizon but the AT&T is the only one that is 512GB or I would just switch phones. I have flashed them all to U1 firmware but notice they all still reflect the original carrier in Download Mode so again my question is can I change this by flashing it / or is it just a matter of what sim card is in it when it's flashed? I need it to be seen as XAA by Verizon system so not to loose VVM... Pics attached.
Any advice here is greatly appreciated in advance.
Just a try... You can try the *#272*imei# method... But thats If it works. Not sure if the sims has to be in the phone for that to work.

Yes it brings up this menu... So I just select the XAA and that's it? I've been reading forums and this method is reversible it seems ... I'm familiar with Odin and all that but these hidden menus are new to me...
Thanks for the reply btw
You may have to activate the bottom most option to stay.
Don't worry if you can't access the menu after the change. You can download samsung band selection and change to automatic or one of the lte options then back to automatic to get to the menu.
CSC Guide
CSC (which I think means Carrier Service Code) helps to set what options for settings show in the device for things like voicemail and wifi calling, as well as sets network code information for things like carrier aggregation combos.
When you go to your phone settings->about phone->software information and look in the Service Provider SW ver. section, you will see as the last line a combo like XXX/YYY/ZZZ. This indicates what carrier sales and network code is set and what brand the phone was manufactured as.
I think of the XXX/YYY/ZZZ configuration as follows
XXX=Sales Code-What kind of features are setup in the firmware like wifi calling, video calling and settings menus
YYY=Network Code-What kind of network features are set for things like carrier aggregation and LTE/5G bands
ZZZ=Manufactured as Code- What model the phone was originally manufactured as. Ot has no affect on the system settings or options. THIS CAN NOT CHANGE. IT SHOULD ALWAYS BE THE SAME. ONLY A ROOTED PHONE WOULD BE ABLE TO ACCESS THE FILES NECESSARY TO CHANGE THIS.

[Guide] Service Mode and CSC Guide/Enable LTE/5G Bands and Services/5G Low Band on U1
Hello All, Many people have asked about service mode and CSC related questions and I thought we should get a discussion going that is all in one place. *DISCLAIMER* I do not take any responsibility for any issues that may occur from changing...

My phone came with carrier bloat (splash screen and all)
The only method that I found that would work was Samkey so I paid up and changed my CSC to BTU.
My service provider details are now
SAOMC_SM-N986B_OXM_BTU_RR_0007
BTU/BTU,BTU/EUX/H3G
Do I need to do anything else to start getting my updates straight from Samsung?
Thank you
