Yes, but you must know what your doing or you can mess up tour device. It DOES NOT root your device. Use it for debugging/testing.

Will this work for g965usqu2arc6 ?

I haven't seen one yet lol.. I'm surprised at how many jumped to rev2 so quickly

Now that all the major carriers have pushed out a new firmware, will we be able to get new CSC / userdata files for v2?

Would this give us root?
I heard the boot.img needs to match with corresponding firmware and userdata etc. or else phone won't boot. Maybe a wise soul would be able to find a solution!
do you flash these files using a modified odin or what? also do you flash to the AP slot or BL
I've read that if you have an MD5 file that it just goes into the AP slot. Haven't tried it yet.
Some brave souls need to try this ASAP
Having Engboot is nice but from last year's experience it may just mean flashing this will get SE Linux to be in permissive mode. Someone will still need to "inject" root and publish the method for the rest of us.
I flashed this "Engboot" and now my phone is complaining "Security Error: This phone has been flashed with unauthorized software & is locked. Call your mobile operator for additional support. Please note that repair/return for this issue may have additional cost.
Any ideas?
Odin back to original firmware

Yes, thanks I am back to factory again. But wanted to see anything else that can be done to boot the "Engboot" as a path towards root.
I'm coming from a rooted galaxy s5 and I know we had to flash the ENG firmware to get root on 5.0

Is ANYONE messing around with this? Or am I the only one?
I have flashed these already but there was binary mismatch error. I will be glad to test further if someone wants to guide specially since Samsung has patched the Samfail exploit.

How did you flash it?
Through ODIN. It flashed fine but phone was showing unauthorized software error and won't boot
Sent from my SM-G965U1 using Tapatalk
Well I have a s9+ as a secondary phone right now so I could technically flash something if we are trying to obtain a root method. I'd want to have a pro to help me unbrick/fix my device if needed lol. Is there any root development going on right now?
How to flash? I tried odin but it says invalid. (Edit: Nevermind. Can't flash using usb c cables yet had to use c to a cable. Of course I got the same error. I am your test dummy I'll try anything what you got for me?
I'm stck in engineering mode :/

I flashed this along with the CSC and it actually booted! Got lot's of cool info. But now I'm stuck and can't odin back to stock! I get the sha256 error and modified odin won't work. What do?
Try the patched ODIN that someone posted in another thread v3.13.1

Guess I'm coming from Europe where the only model of the the phone we use is "F" eg.sm-g955f, sm-g 965f..
I'm now in the us and I got a galaxy s9 sm-g965U1 ulocked online from the samsung store..
I then found out there is a sm-g965U... which is also unlock and unbranded for the USA... some one please tell me what difference is there between these two models... And If there is no difference why does it exist?

Hey,
I also wanted to unroot my phone. I have all the same reasons.
I had upgraded to Oreo before rooting. After root, I had flashed the PartCyborg Rom which was Nougat. My current software version is G955USQU1AQK1.
Also, when I start my phone into downloading mode i noticed a change - RPMB fuse blown which was something different before rooting (Tried attaching an image, but doesnt allow me since I do not have 10 posts)
When I try Odin, it does absolutely nothing. Can someone please help me with the correct firmware file

[REQUEST] Galaxy S8+ G955U Sprint CRD4 Bootloader rev3 firmware

Alright so I guess I'm stuck in a situation. I recently updated my firmware to Sprint's latest one (CRD4) and I didn't realize that the bootloader was rev3 and I tried flashing a lower bootloader version. I got a fail in odin and now my phone just reboots to recovery (it doesn't fully enter recovery either, it just says error or installing update). I've tried flashing:
G955USQS2BQL1 (Sprint)
G955USQU2CRC5 (Sprint)
G955USQU3CRD4 (T-Mobile)
and it still says fail. I have no idea what else to do next besides taking it to Sprint but I cracked the corner of my screen and I'm sure they will charge me to fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
Unfortunately you are stuck on it. In the disclaimer is said you would not be able to downgrade to a previous version for security reasons. You will probably have to wait till the new Sprint version is available to download.

How long do you think that will take since this is my only phone?
You will have to wait until an Odin flashable package of CRD4 or another bootloader 3 firmware becomes available. Without a complete BL3 system flash you are SOL
I think I'll hold off on the OTA update until I hear some safe reports

Error: Could not send BinaryInform. Status code 200/400
Request was invalid. Are you sure the input data is correct?
Update: Nvm found it. Had to go to the last page
Do you have z3x?
You dont need z3x to flash the tmobile variant, but it makes it far simpler. Which version of odin are you using? If its the prince comsey you will more than likely get the mismatch error.

Just for other peoples' reference, the phone came in today and the model on the box is indeed SMJ337VZKA.
SW-VER or Firmware: J337VVRU1ARG1 which I believe I've seen before online (looks familiar). Other documentation online for this phone on Samsungs site and Verizon suggested to me it would have the J337VPP firmware, so it is interesting indeed.

I requested a more appropriate thread for your device on xda's new device forum requests thread. I recommend you to buy an lg phone because they still have bootloader unlock methods as far as i can tell. since the device your looking at is from verizon well i say your luck isn't there because verizon is notorious for locking bootloaders on all phones.

I might be able to root this with our boot root method. Would just need to get the boot.img and give it a try. Ill try to give it a run for its money. While not likely there is still a chance. Not the first boot loader locked device rooted.
P just to catch up this was able to be rooted via or method but it's just a work root

I don't think you can use a SIM card in that specific model for adopted storage but you can always use app2sd which works great or that other one I forget its name but it is the other top one the competitor of app2sd. I always just use app to SD for most Parts on older phones

@ashyx So i bought a license for Chimera to temp remove KGLock on the j337u, to unlock OEM toggle.
After flashing the patched boot, almost instantly the phone locks up with a message saying something about Needing Authorization to use phone. Ive thought of anything and everything trying to disable encryption without TWRP to.flash the zip. no dice so far. So... my question to you would be, willing to port it? I have of files, etc.... i beliebe i remember seeing you tagged as a porter of twrp. If not so, would you be anle to point me in the right direction? would be eXtremely grateful. THANKS in advance for takin the time to read this.
Also, question 2. So, i noticed that ONCE knox connects to internet it updates and throws that lock up. I read its in boot or kernel, is it possivle to flash a another j337u fw, that wont have that baked in? Or will every fw i.find be the same, or...?

I bypassed Google lock on my galaxy J337 v using the sim pin method and it worked awesome. Only took me a month lol.

SM-G930U root for v9 Bootloader "G930UUEU9CSA3"

i got the latest security update via OTA and an now running the G930UUEU9CSA3 firmware, ive tried flashing the eng boot img i originally used to root from here "https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-s7-edge/how-to/root-s7-s7edge-oreo-nougat-t3819616" but odin fails every time, i'm pretty sure its because the new security update updated the bootloader also... to version 9. now i guess my question is are there any eng boot files for the v9 bootloader available yet? or any other usable root methods available?

That wasn't very clever was it.
Should never update branded unless it's to fix a major bug. Any loophole which allows root or flash is closed on an update until someone figures out how to root on the new boot loader.
I think the best advice to anyone on US networks is to flash unbranded and go from there.

I'm fairly certain that the only twrp for the s7 is a temporary one because there is no unlock for the bootloader, and even still the temp twrp is only compatible with the v4 bootloader and I am currently on v9.... that is unless I'm mistaken if I am then please someone correct me and point me in the right direction because I'd love to be running magisk on my s7 : )

Okay I was completely unaware of TWRP being an option or the possibility of Magisk with a locked bootloader, now to clarify I'm running the latest unbranded US Region firmware for the US T-Mobile version of the Qualcomm Galaxy S7 "(TMB) G930UUEU9CSA3" that being said I have a few questions about how to specifically to proceed if you don't mind helping me?
First is the version of Odin available from the post provided above inst the modified version I've been required to use for all my previous flashing "Odin3_v3.13.1_3B_PatcheD" should I use this one or the version provided in the post above "Odin3_v3.13.1"?
My next question is that all the different versions and variants of TWRP available for my device the Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge are either for Exynos Canada/International or Korea or the Chinese Qualcomm variant of each. Should I download and use the TWRP for the Chinese Qualcomm S7?
The sammobile link in the original post for "Android 8.0 Oreo Stock Rom" provides me with a list of the latest and up to date international versions of firmware for the Galaxy S7 Edge "SM-G935FD" I'm assuming I should just use the stock firmware image for my device "SM-G930U" instead?
The link for the no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0 is dead but I don't think its needed because of something someone said in the original post about this method failing after latest security update "the one I'm on" https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78115895&postcount=18 he said he solved it easily with information and another flash able zip from this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77000849&postcount=47 and the zip from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76564735&postcount=37
All that being said I haven't attempted anything yet, I'll try the above method as I understand it later this evening and I'll post my results

Hello there, i deleted most of your post because i didn't want my post to be huge. So if i just give you some guidelines hopefully you can have a look around for the files you need.
1. For Qualcomm / snapdragon devices you must always use the patched version of Odin you already have. Now this version of Odin can be dangerous if you don't flash the correct firmware for your device because it ignores device mismatch and other safety measures the normal Odin checks for before flashing. Which brings me to.....
2. Anything for G935 will not work for G930 including TWRP, you must always use firmware, patches twrp which specifically says it for G930 Qualcomm/snapdragon devices.
3. The China/ Korea Qualcomm/snapdragon devices are exactly the same as the US devices, anything working on the China / Korea devices will work on the US device.
Now i know you want to root unbranded on V9 but as you are on the T Mobile network it may be easier to flash and root T Mobile Oreo for the time being until there is a workaround root for V9 unbranded.
All of the threads you linked to were for G935 devices and i've mentioned you can't use those patches BUT the process and step by step instructions you follow are the same for your device. So you can follow those guides as long as you are using the patches for your device.
There is a Snapdragon section on this forum so thats a good place to look.
I've had a quick look for this specific firmware and can't find anything about rooting the U9 version yet.....
I'm just checking this firmware G930UUEU9CSA3 your running did have either XAA or USC code next to it when you downloaded? I've noticed Verizon, AT&T and Sprint are using the same firmware VZN, ATT, XAS.

I'd be interested to know how this turned out if the device with V9 bootloader could be rooted with temp TWRP method.
Can i actually flash magisk on my 930u?
Is there any way to root my g930t ?
I'm on v9 bootloader, and i don't care about knox tripping.
Did developpers really failed to break the security of this little old device ? Or no one worked it ?

Would this info be applicable to edge models as well? Pretty sure our moderator has moved on as he is disgusted with samsungs persistance in blocking root with new bl versions. Im on an unlocked tmo s7 edge with the u firmware as well.
