Hi
After getting a Nexus 4, then getting Android 4.2.2, then finding scheduling Airplane mode on and off didn't work anymore, I rooted my Nexus and looked for an application that would work reliably to toggle Airplane mode by set times. After paying for an app that I then found wouldn't reliably switch flight mode on and off, and other apps wanting permissions for everything and/or costing money I set out to do my own.
As I've taken a lot of free apps from the Play Store I've given one back :good:
If anyone is interested in a app that doesn't have unnecessary permissions, doesn't nag to rate it, has no adds, is free, and hopefully works reliably search the Play store for "Timed Toggles" by Ergodicity. You can schedule airplane mode (requires root on android 4.2 up), BlueTooth, Wi-Fi, Account Syncing etc to turn them on and off at set times repeating over selected days of the week.
Any feedback welcome as this is my first app.
The app doesn't use a service so isn't running all the time as it uses the AlarmManager, so will not cause any extra battery drain or use up memory, and if you are turning things off when it isn't a time you would use them, you will of course be saving some battery power.
There are other good apps out there doing the same or better, and this isn't a replacement for the likes of Tasker, but might be preferred if someone doesn't need all the bells and whistles. It also gave me a reason to have a go at making an App.
Many thanks.
Hi
I've updated the app to work with Airplane mode on Android 4.3. Still requires root permissions, and ChainFires SuperSU 1.43 seems to do the trick.
Yes! It's good!
Your app does trick for 4.4.2 custom rom like SlimKat, since slimroms don't use profiles nor profile manager.
I'm assured that it do not spend battery as airplane mode switcher and also as timed automatic brightness switcher.
Keep the good work!
p.s. Any update soon?
Some of battery boosters/saver would kill Timed Toggles from running Widgets also can be nice.
Great app, thank you very much!
Replaces xposed + airplane mode helper + auto airplane mode here. :good:
I would like to translate it to german, is this possible? Edit: Done, send german translation via mail.
Would also be nice to add a shutdown option. I forget often to power off my tablet...

Thank you for the feedback.
Timed Toggles doesn't need to stay in memory to work, it will show up in the cached programs list simply because Android keeps apps in memory so as to avoid having to load them again later to save power.
If the battery saver/task killer does more, for example unloads the app and removes all things that might make it start again, then this will stop these types of apps from working, and you should add Timed Toggles as an exception.
I hope that helps explain it.

Many thanks for your German translation (sorry only just saw this message).
If possible can we have start and end time along with frequency to continue...Thanks in advance
It is still excellent app for Android 4.4.4 (SlimKat rom)
Thanks again for made it!
That's weird, new 1.5.0 forgets to turn off airplane mode on my Y300, Android 4.4.4 if "postpone if in use" is checked.
Thanks for this small app... wans't working with plain su but after switching to Super SU it works great !
I found it can't reboot in android 4.4.2. other in ok.
could you share the code?
Hello. I have problem with TT and android 6.01. I can't get the airplane mode on and off, it doesn't work. My device if off course rooted.
Edit: I had fight with it 2 days, and now it works great. Thx
Don't work anymore with Nougat 7.1.1
I've just found this app and am testing it on my S3 Mini, so far is working ok but I'd like to toggle the Airplane mode on an hourly basis during the day to keep the phone awake on my Home Signal Femtocell. For some reason both my Samsung phones lose connectivity with the Home Signal, although they both show a full signal.
Is there a config file that I can edit to put all the on / off entries in?
Thanks for the app in any case.
Hello @ergodicity, I just realize today that this app doesn't exist in playstore anymore. Did you retrieve this app or google did it? How come?

I think Google has removed it because it doesn't target the latest API.
As it was a free app and it was increasingly difficult to keep it updated to support various phones and devices which I don't have to test with anyway, I've not updated it in a long time, and it likely needs some work to bring it up to the latest API version. I've left Android development to work on other things so I have no plans to update it, very sorry. I would recommend Phone Schedule (from the play store) for a more capable alternative.
I've noticed that Android 5.0 allows to change many system settings (enable/disable WiFi/BlueTooth/Autorotate/etc) on its Lock Screen without entering any password.
I hate this liberty.
Does anyone have any idea how to disable this feature?
I cannot find anything in settings.

I too cannot believe this was left as a feature... I was hoping that would be fixed in the final version.
Bump.
This is actually a security issue.

I agree but there's nothing in android. 3rd party lock screen is the only way.
a fix for this would be good, as anyone can just pick up your phone and change any of the quick settings without unlocking it.
So you would not be able to track the phone if it got nicked and someone just stuck it in airplane mode!

does it matter if airplane mode is in quick settings or the main setting? if they want to steal your phone and put it into airplane mode, they will do it regardless if its in quick settings or the main settings. its stuff that you yourself use often that will appear in quick settings. i personally think its a great feature.

But they should not be able to do it while the phone is locked. At very least we should have the option of what should be accessible without unlocking the phone.

even if they were not in the quick settings, you can still pull down the notification bar while in the lockscreen, and go into the main settings. so, everything there is available to any thief.

Heck, I'm not even worried about the security situation with this, I just want to disable it because I think it is extremely poorly executed!
It offers nothing that power toggles doesn't, and is not even configurable for what options are present. I never use auto-rotate, cast screen, invert colors, etc, and yet, those options are available instantly!

They can also just remove the sim card or turn it off.
What I am looking for, is for the only possible thing you can do, while the phone is locked, is enter the password. Is there a way to set that up? Not be able to toggle any settings at all or remove the quick settings(I am ok with the emergency calling and camera widget, since you can't access the pictures on the phone until entering the password). I know they could still remove the sim or power off the phone but at least it might buy some more time if your phone gets stolen for you to track it or snap a pic of the thief. It would be nice if you could also disable the power menu and volume buttons while on the lock screen.
For now, until other solution is found or developed, you can go to notification settings and in 'When device is locked' change the setting to 'Hide sensitive notification content'. This disables access to quick settings from the lock screen but also hides titles of notifications, so you will see the notifications for emails, texts etc., but their content will be hidden.
This doesn't work. Well, if you have root and xposed you can install "Advanced Power Menu" to control the power menu on lockscreen etc and with GravityBox you can control the items on the quick settings. But I still couldn't figure out a way to totally disable it on the lockscreen.
As I remember the "X posed" Module "Notification Mod" could do exactly this. Problem is: It seems that development is discontinued and the stable ver1.2 doesn't (on my lollipop custom rom) work on 5.x

I am seeing this in my new Samsung S7 edge... with finger print and password lock.... it is not there on S5 with finger print and password lock... its a silly feature... why would they turn it on ? My son just put my phone in airplane mode accidentaly.... and I kept wondering why no messages and calls for the whole weekend.... hate to think what it would be like if it happened to someone who was say, on a on-call emergency personnel or something like that.... no one would be able to reach out to them.... I guess now have to keep checking my phone every hour.... hahahaha... or maybe go back to using my S5.. if someone has a solution to this pls share... appreciate it.
No way to disable access to quiick settings on lock screen on unrooted Android M....
Try the Market anyway,
One solution for me on Android 6.01 was to disable WiFi, Bluetooth, Airplane Mode, Mobile Data from Quick Settings using Systen UI Tuner in Settings then downloaded Settings Extended app at the Market and moved all mentioned in SE's Notification Shortcut. Don't forget to enable "HIDE LOCK SCREEN NOTIFICATION" in Preferences which is the objective of all this anyway. So don't forget to click this.
You can even disable everything in Quick Settings and instead put them all in SE Notification as Shortcuts. What's great about SE is that its Notification gets the icon color/shade/background color/color when toggled etc. perfectly in Android 6. Exactly the same. It looks like its really part of the Notification Screen except that there's that horizontal gap that separates the notifications and makes the screen fiddle faddle.
Try it anyway. It might be your only hope against lock screen vulnerability in unrooted Android 6.0 phones.

I have the same problem with my S7. Its weird that you cant change the wifi or bluetooth without unlocking the phone but when you select mobile data or airplane mode you can turn that off from the lockscreen so when your phone gets stolen, the thief can so easy turn that off that there is no way to trace your phone. Why do they even call this a smart phone while its so dumb?

I must apologise first, I’m not a nerdy-head about android, but I was thinking about my new phone (upgraded to A7) and your question is one that I sought out for answers.
In Nougat, I logged in as Guest and used a pin for the user so that a ‘guest’ can’t access the Guest account without my permission.
Then comes you’re question.
You can remove all the worrisome quick start icons from your quick settings (probably leave flashlight). Then use a 3rd party app (Notification Toggle is mine) which isn’t available to a user from a protected login.
As I’ve never had a lollypop viable phone I’m afraid another user might need to help you with a more detailed method for A5.
Hope it helps somewhat. As an old 8080 machine code programmer, it was always about solving problems and then working the bugs out. I'm not even sure how to post on these - socially thingy’s.
This issue it's still there in Nougat, so before it is passed on to Android O, we have to POPULARIZE this issue so they(Android developers) know how big of a pain in the ass it is. I'm posting the complaints to every forum, magazine, fan page, etc. When it's on the social media, they have to do something. This issue has survived because people don't want their friends to know about it, coz it's partly embarrassing...
Is any way to disable calling/texting? And to keep data running? Any app or option to do it.
Basically I just don't want to receive any phone calls and texts at certain time. Is it possible? But again.. to keep cell data On.
Thank you for help

This is a workaround.
Freeze dialer app and in-call UI and Message app via any apps like SdMaid.
But you have to do everytime when you need to toggle.
May Tasker help you in this automation.

activate airplane mode and thereafter any radio you need/want, i.e. bluetooth, wifi, nfc etc.
it's not only fast but also fastest to revert back
if you have to boot into this condition always or often you can make a tasker script that does it automatically upon boot or upon another condition.
of course you can do the later anyways if you already use tasker and are relatively quick to implement such a profile or task

If I enable airplane mode there is no way I could make my cellular data to work, that's what I need. I dont need wifi, either Bluetooth.
Am I wrong?
Titanium Backup Pro ( required root ) lets you freeze "anything" ! ! ! . . . . . ( ie. you need a full backup before you try and ( maybe ) hose yourself )
You got two simcard slots. Get yourself a data only card for the second slot and turn off SIM 1 when you don't want any calls. I believe this is the most simple way.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding but wouldn't DND work ?
titanium backup let's you freeze any app
you freeze a app and causes boot loop
delete the file in
data system user 0 named package restrictions.XML in term
this rests all blocked apps
Damn, I wish I could use some app to do it with one click but I guess there is no such a thing. Anyway, Thx guys for suggestions.
Planning to get a new OnePlus 7. Just curious is there a pocket mode available which prevents screen from unlocking when it's in pocket.
yes
if prox sensor is cover you can't wake up the screen touch it. this is by default. But if you push power button that doesn't matter

This outta do it. This app works for ROOTED AND NON ROOTED devices. I really wish Oneplus would carry some of these features on to their new phones. I don't think that will ever happen. The best I could do on my Oneplus 7 Pro was to download the "joneplus Tools [ADB/ROOT]." This app (download from play store or link below) allows you to set a pocket mode quick settings tile which is pretty handy if you don't want it on all the time and can quickly toggle it. Its got a bunch of other cool features that you don't need a root for either . Such as call recording. Without root you can turn on call recording in the native stock dialer for all your calls if you wish. That last part does require the Tasker app for the call recording which is a single $3.49 purchase. Totally worth it in my opinion since it offers tons of features for people who dont want to root. So Just download this app from the play store or apkmirror.
I would add the links but I'm a newbie and they won't let me yet. It really is worth it.
After you have downloaded jOneplus Tools [ADB/ROOT} connect phone to computer to add your ADB permission as I said you don't need to be rooted., but inorder to be able to open the app you just have to run one adb command which is in the instructions of the app. This app is really handy, it features:
-Enable Call Recording in stock app (always on)
-Allows you to edit your quick tile settings count.
-Change Animation Settings
-Turn on/off Navigation Buttons
-Enable always on OTG
-Enable Android P Navigation Gestures
-Switches to monochrome mode from application or QS tile
-Access hidden menus & more
Hope this can help someone....

Sorry about that . I never used it and I'm surprised really. It was oversight. I apologize. I just assumed it worked unun-rooted. My phone is not rooted and I never tried that.
I use this app to record all my calls automatically and to change animation scales. That I confirm works on non rooted devices.
Hi everyone,
Like many others I'm having to use Zoom a lot lately, the laptop's webcam is broken so I'm using the phone as a webcam.
Every time a notification comes in, though, it interrupts the webcam. Silent mode has no effect on that.
Are there any apps (rooted or not) that can temporarily disable all notifications, then, when switched off, restore the prior settings of notifications for all apps?
I'm aware of NotificationsOff, but not understanding whether switching profiles off and on messes all the detailed notification settings painstakingly set for certain apps, and not willing to risk that.
Thanks for any tips!

Hmm can't you just use Do Not Disturb mode and set it to not only disable sounds, but also visual notifications - so therefore they won't be heard nor seen?
I'm on Resurrection Remix, see the attached screenshot, but I'm sure OOS has this setting too
Thank you @cd993 that sounds like exactly what I want, and you're right, it's in the OOS menu, and I just discovered that this setting was already activated.
But now you're making be doubt, maybe I haven't been activating DND. The switch on the side of the phone activates Silent mode, but I guess it doesn't do notifications.
Will try DND and ask again if that doesn't work.
