I am trying to compile new rom for i637 out of original AT&T 6.5 rom, Telcel Mexico 6.5 rom and Chinese ROM. There are few things i'm interested in changing and I was wondering what can i find in eboot.eb0, pda.pda and phone.bin files. What do they do. What do they contain. WHAT IS WHAT?
Since someone wrote that in csc file there's language and keyboard and stuff I wanted to flash the phone with mexican pda file but with us csc so the keyboard won't get changed.
Can anyone please help me figure this out. Is there a way for me to extract csc from official AT&T updater.exe?
If anyone can explain it to me please keep it simple and clear cause it's my first attempt.
Thank you
Edit: Can you please tell me how to extract fiiles from AT&T updater. It's called MSM7X00 Unified Downloader.

I have a similar question.
I was wondering if there is a possibility that any of the files used to flash the BenQ E72 could contain the Splash image that comes when you turn on the phone...
I'm using Windows Phone 6.5 on my E72, but everytime I turn on the phone I see tha old Windows Phone 6.0 splash image...
That picture is not inside my Rom, so I guess it must be located in one of the files used to flash the device... I'm attaching these files to see see if someone more knowledgeable can tell me if there is an image within those files! Thanks!!
can anyone help me? I'm sure somebody knows...c'mon brainiacs

that file is in your ROM, but not as a .jpeg or some picture file.. There is a registry key that directs to a .dll file which contains the Splash Logo!
If you want to change the Splash Logo for any custom one, take a look in here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=769651
This is a Mortscript based Program
- Menu GridView to ListView
- Menu ListView to GridView
- Hide Menu Labels
- Show Menu Labels
- Change Startup Splash Logo
- Change Shutdown Splash Logo
- You can use any JPEG file with a 320x240 resolution
- You can also use the files in the \Windows directory, permission doesn't make sense (hidden, read only, archive)
In order to use it, you must download Mortscript: the link is in the same thread!

If you want to cook again with the right Splash Logo, use this resource:
You can only use a .jpg picture with a 320x240 (only for QVGA) resolution.
Place the file in \Application Data\Home\Your Custom File Name).jpg
Go to this path:
in HKLM\system\startup\1\
delete or backup STRING "DLL" Value "doani_Samsung.dll" (if any - found on remora)
create a new STRING with title "Splash" with VALUE "Application Data\Home\(Your Custom File Name).jpg"
in HKLM\System\Shutdown\1\
delete STRING "DLL" VALUE "doani_Samsung.dll" (if any)
create new STRING with Title "Splash" and Value "Application Data\Home\(Your Custom File Name).jpg"
I've tried all those things long time ago...So I say that the splash image may be contained in one of the files attached, so I'm asking if anyone can help me with that issue please
The old Windows Phone 6.0 image splash appears when I power on the phone...Then appears the Windows Phone 6.5 image splash...As I said before, that picture is not contained in my rom, dll file, etc
I found something in the forums, but oly cabbed dialers which eat almost 5MB storage, so I simply edited the dialer pics in windows folder.
Just copy them into windows folder and accept overwriting, you will gain 1 MB of free storage, thanks to lnando84 for images compression.
I still need to edit some files , but at the moment the dialer is as in images below
If my memory is correct sir, you can find the missing images in the phcanImages.dll file.
Hope this can helps you.
I don't know how to manage .dll files.
I red some tutorials but at this moment I have no time to make practice, if someone could kindly extract the images and post them here, I could edit them and repost to rebuild the .dll
you can use a app called "Resource Hacker" to extract the bmp-file from your dll. after editing this image, just import it using Resource Hacker and save your new file. after that you'll have to singn your new dll (just search xdadev for signing dll-files).
Here in attachment you can find your needed files.
And to be useful to you I have extract all .bmb files from the specific .dll file.
Hope this helps you.
thanks, lot of things inside.. I've just made a try with the button that was missing, it's difficult to identify the gray frame..
in the rar file there are 2 pics (both in bmp and png cause I don't know which is the better format) .
Bitmap_11/png11 is from phcanImages2.dll , Bitmap_12/png12 is from phcanImages.dll.
Need to rebuild the dll files and test if I'm on the right way
thanks to kurt-willems I made a test, edited images above are ok, just have a matter of file size.
Now I need to rebuild the dll files without increase their size
here the dll files I rebuilt, I need help to check them cause I'm not able to sign them.
if I replace the stock files with those unsigned I lose storage (seems the OS have memory of the original files somewhere) and have a weird displaying of dialer bottom bar.
EDIT: if you're going to test this post dll on the phone , make first a sistem backup cause, once installed , overwriting them with the stock one will not give you back free storage .

Just copy them into windows folder and accept overwriting, you will lose only few KB of storage.
I still need to edit some files but I'm not able to find them (see pics with arrow- no need the green button but the gray frame) if someone knows please tell me name\location of those files

Hi jjolly,
do you also have a screenshot of the incoming call screen?? If that's also black, you convinced me to change to your method instead of .cab file installation.

unforunately no, I firstly have to learn manage dll files to complete the black buttons, and the incoming call screen is quiet complicated for me.. i made an attempt some time ago: there are 2 or 3 bmp image that are overlayed to create that background, and there is the caller name text that has to be changed from black to white and I don't have any idea where it is
at this moment you can use files in post #1 and have black keyboard+back button as in image without sacrifice free storage.

+1 I really need a correct black on black dialer skin,
I, found another one though,
But never liked that only the buttons are black
The background stays as is !!!! check this thread,
a zip file is attached to the bottom of it for developers.
Would be nice if you could amend it to be a black on black

the attached files are part of those of my post #1 (I put 7 files in the rar file, he did 4).
It is the stock dialer ,he only inverted the names (the screenshots are "photoshopped" cause bottom bar\buttons are still gray) , I did something more cause I edited the dialer frame and the Back button

I'll try lending a helping hand. I downloaded the zip from post #6 and noticed there are only 2 different images in there. Are these the only 2 you'd like to change within the .dll? In order for me to do that I'll need you to go into your windows folder, copy "phcanImages.dll" out of there and attach it for me.

yes, thanks a lot.
before editing other images I need to know if its possible to rebuild them in the dll file without losing storage
with that 2 images the dialer will result as in post #7 (it has been cabbed by user kurt-willems but eats 5 MB of storage.

No problem, I swapped out the 2 images you provided with the original one's from the dll's. I see what you mean about the storage because they did increase in size with just switching 1 image in each when there are about 20 bmps in each dll. Here are the one's i edited so u can see the difference.

It's really difficult to download from the link you provided - I tried 9 times before the file eventually downloaded.
The PNG files in "assets/res/spine/children" aren't readable. They're either corrupt or formatted incorrectly.
If these images aren't showing when you run the app, you'll have to make them again from your original images.
Hi all.
I'm unable to attach images via either method.
When I try attach & upload it just comes back with the error 'upload failed'
If I try to use IMG to link an external site, I just end up with a 'broken' postage stamp in my post.
Even attempting to LINK to the image on either MediaFire or GoogleDrive fails. Have to LINK to the folder.
Sizes on the images are less than 100K.
Is there a proper method to submit a support ticket?
Thanks, _Dan

Do you mean that you couldn't attach an image when you post a new thread here?
Let me have a try with some image as below.
View attachment 4829843
So, it does work for me. The size of that .png image file is 161 KB.
I had some images in app like hidefolder .. I restored those images
issue is, i cant find those images anywhere using gallery, different file explorers even in android/data folders .. Wasted several hours finding it ..
I can see those images if I open facebook app and try to upload image and this one pops up ..
I cant remember how it was originally downloaded .. maybe via gmail.. how can I access that image file which is right there visible if I try to attach image using facebook but not visible at all .. I need to remove that file
is there any file explorer which fetches image data like facebook which is still showing that image?
ANy help will be greatly appreciated as it is getting on my nerves ..

Try going to the Images category of the built-in My Files app from Samsung. For me, it shows exactly what appears in Facebook.
