In case : repeatedly, but no harm done..
Wothout case: Only once, and it got scratched on the front near the Bluetooth led and near the answerbutton below.
No errors !
dropped it once. the point of impact was directly on the yellow/red led which pushed the led inside the XDA2. no errors occurred. but i'm pissed!
you're all lucky buggers, i've dropped my xda twice in the last year. First time it cracked the screema nd had to replace that, and dropped it again this morning and the screen's messed up but not cracked, how do you lot get away with it, i didn't even drop it from a great distance and it was a capeted floor
Why i am asking the times you dropped it, beacouse mine was dropped a miniut ago. i was so nervous and worried. but there is no scratches or errors, when the time it was dropped, it restarted and search for something i found bad, but there is nothing bad happens, still i am worried and nervous.
if there's nothing obvious just after you drop it, chances are you're lucky and it'll be fine
Dropped it 5-6 times (Im not clumsy, really, Ive had it for 10 months now ), always in the standard case, which offers little protection on the sides, resulting in a number of scratches to the device on the sides. No errors however, seems like a tough enough device. If I put on a new cover it will be as good as new
Surur
i dropped my device once and a little peace of the black plastic is cracked.
Who knows where i can get the black peace from the back site of the phone? I have search here in the Netherlands but doesn't find it yet
Dropped the XDA I in its case dozens of times, no real damage. Unfortunately, I have been carrying the XDA II in the old case, and it fell out twice now and hit the pavement naked. No functional damage, but sure scratched it up.

The crack in the black plastic was probably not from the drop. A buddy and myself had the crack develop by the power button and then aother to where it made the piece fall out. Neither of us had dropped ours at that time. Since then only twice in the case. One no damage, second hit the corner by the voice recorder button. Drop on the pavement from about 2 1/2 feet. No functional damage but the silver part is definatley got the marks to show...
Dustoff
seriously, how do you buggers get away with scratches when mine always gets damage i have to pay for, i'd give anything to know taht if i drop if it won't cost me a penny
I have quick reactions and have always managed to stick my foot under it to cushion the fall.
lol, i have steel toe capped boots, i think it would be slightly worse
I dropped mine on concrete . . . no cover . . . naked. The antenna cover (black plastic) cracked diagonally up from the record button to the top of the back and then back down past the external antenna connector. It seems to be holding fast and working perfectly - but at some point I am going to want to replace it.
i dropped mine of a roof and its still works just damage to my case on the corner next to my green light so if anyone knows how to get a new one please let me know
a roof? this get's better, mine fell off a bed and it's buggered
i've never dropped mine. Didn't know I was supposed to.

There is still no drop test available for this device. Have any one of you dropped the phone to the ground yet ?
Important to know if you used screen protector or not.
I have removed the screen protector, to get a better image. I did drop my phone to the floor, it did glide from the chair straight down with the "screen" down From about half meter (chair level). Luckily.. not a single scratch on the phone.. I know half meter is not impressive.

Well.. the hardness of the material is of high importance.. Concrete floor..is the worst.
However I refuse to buy any flipcover for this device, since the thinness of the phone is important
if you are going to use a big phone like this...
Glass screen protectors seem not be a choice either, since it seem most people have problems to apply them properly due to the surface of the phone is not 100% straight.
Dropped mine 2 times. First time in the snow on the ground and second time on the road. Has some little scratches on aluminium case and one scratch on white part next to lcd screen. Has tempered glass on it.
All the times I have dropped my phones the root cause have been "sleep deprivation" , I know I should be extra careful those days at work when I have not sleeped enough hours, if I have slept only 4 hours in the night I am more likely to drop my phone.. My last G2 did surrive 3 months I hope my m7 will surrive longer. in the spring I hope there is some phones on the market that want me to upgrade, maybe the LG G4 ?
I am little bit worried about the second hand value of the M7. in Sweden there seem to be no explosion of "popularity" of the phone, it was more in the first month of the launch but now it seem less.
I am stubborn to not use any flipcover on this device. Since The big size of the phone makes the extra thickness the phone not enjoyable to handle and hold in hand... Using Glass screen protectors seem not work good with M7 since it is hard to apply because the screen is not 100% straight.
Made a huge drop on the floor today luckily not scratches and the glass did not crack either I was very worried.. So it looks durability is not bad so far.

I with Glass screen protectors by cost of HK$69 without any problem , please dont believe not 100% straight issue.

Drop test
I have "drop tested" my phone by accident twice already haha ... so far 0 scratches on it! maybe i was really REALLY lucky or its super durable phone! I have dropped my phone the first time from 1 meter on a wooden floor, and the second time from half a meter on the same wooden floor and has nothing, screen is perfect, no scratches on the edges, just nothing! I was amazed that it has nothing but its a fact for me
Got the Nillkin glass on it...99% straight, just the bottow right corner as a 1% of not perfectly strightness (not visible if glass not applied)...so for me Nillkin glass = 100% good choice
After 6 months finally I did drop the phone on stone floor, it did result in a quite big crack, but not too vissible, but yet big.
I did quickly order a glass protector.. to make sure the crack does not grow bigger.. I also have hopes that the glass protector will make the crack on the glass even less visible..
I did not have time to look thru which is the best glass protector, since I was in a hurry to get one to prevent the crack from getting bigger .
I bought this one https://www.mytrendyphone.se/shop/huawei-ascend-mate7-142979p.html
I hope it is one of the better ones... The glass is from Japan.
With this say, I can tell you, that the Mate 7 have surrived many big drops, if your phone will surrive will depend on luck but also mostly of the surface material, wood floor is no problem at all for mate 7 you can drop it many many times on wood floor, I have done that.
But on stone floor the percentage of several of the glass is a lot less! Then you really need to have the luck on your side.
I still consider Mate 7 onne of the more durable phones, how it compares with Note 4 would be interesting..
I think Samsung Edge series though are in a class in its own, from what I understand they do not use glass but plastic ?
I never dropped it and I never use cases
For me this phone is excellent!
EXCELLENT BATTERY LIFE!!!!!!!!
Please be advised. I dropped my phone from the side of my bed. It went face down on semi hard wood. The front screen is cracked. No joke. I have had the phone for 2 weeks only. I saw all the youtube drop tests, and I can assure you that they were very lucky to have their phone screen surviving from pocket and shoulder drop. Get a very good case and screen protector. Do not use the phone without it. Just trust me, from the side of my bed (one food and 3/4 high). I may have been unlucky, but there will be other circumstance of unluckiness. Just get a case, a very good one and a very good screen protector. They can replace the screen for 350 plus tx, but you loose the water resistance after automatically.
This situation sounds exactly similar to my Galaxy Note 4 as well.. I left it on my bed and not sure how it landed when it fell off (1-2ft high) off the bed. Cracked through my glass screen protector and left a small hole on my screen. It looks like someone took a screwdriver and stab my phone really hard. I didn't have anything hard particular on the floor and my only assumption it probably landed on a powerbrick.
So I have a hairline crack in the bottom right of my S7 Edge, and was wondering if it's still water resistant. So I went and took a nice hour long, hot and steamy shower. After the phone was dunked in water, exposed to steam, and getting poured on, I don't see one sign of damage so far, everything works fine and I don't notice anything near the crack. DO NOT TRY THIS YOURSELF, IM JUST SHARING MY RESULTS.
I really don't think many would be daft enough to try this ?

Yea, I got an LG G6, so I thought "nothing to loose, right?" ?
I have back glass cracked like spider web and I have snapped a lot of photos under water and my s7 edge is working fine, I wasn't worried for water going inside my phone because under cracked glass is a thin plastic layer that keeps device isolated from water. I'm not saying that you are 100% safe to put you phone under water with cracked glass, I'm just sharing my experience

Well this would answer my question that I have been looking for since I got a hairline crack on my s7 edge. I haven't dunked it in water and still not going to but at least ill know it will be safe from a drink spill or a splash.
I am normally super careful when handling my devices, so this really hurts. I did put my phone in to my jeans jacket front pocket and as I leaned forward to tie my shoes it slipped out and hit carpet!!! from no more than 2 feet. I am waiting for any protective case to arrive so the phone was completely naked. It must have hit the corner of the front screen directly, the crack is right above the factory applied screen protector. Is this front screen fixable? Is there a Samsung repair center in Los Angeles area that I can go and get estimate? They used to have store on Wilshire blvd, but it's not there anymore. Guys, get protective cases, this was really no more that 2 feet drop to carpet. It sucks. No damage to inner screen, fortunately.
My nightmare was solved faster than I thought. Bravo Samsung experience store in Glendale, CA. Called them at the time of opening at 11 am and booked appointment for 4 pm ( even if their web site had earliest service opening for November 5 - almost 11 days fully booked ) and after 2 hours waiting and $154.00 from my valet my front screen has been replaced. Z Fold 2 customers have priority. Good to know. No factory installed screen protection anymore, but surprisingly the screen feels much better and even snappier. Very happy with the Samsung customer service in USA. Not happy that still any good factory made phone case available as of now...
samsung store in glendale.

That just sucks pal, sorry to see this. From the tear down videos and fact phone not waterproof should be a reasonable easy fix.
Oh man that's a bummer. I've had mine for 2 days and my case won't be here for another day or so. I actually got Samsung Care+ because I'm so afraid of dropping this thing.
