What is your LTE, 4G Speeds like? - Sony Xperia XZ Questions & Answers

It seems that my speeds suck anywhere. Don't get more than 1mbps on my LTE Network full bars. What is wrong? All i did was Flash CE1 Files with the USA Firmware still intact? To get Fingerprint Sensor working. This problem was before the flash as well. Any help? Can you guys post your LTE Speeds? Supposedly need to be max 10mbps. i gotten those speeds before on my Carrier on my Z3+

30Mbps on two signal bars. That's pretty much max my provider can handle.
I'd do a full format and flash new .65 firmware and start from there. You've got a dirty flash, maybe something with baseband drivers got screwed up.

I believe I can reach 200Mbps someday. Still I have to wake up at 5am to get the best of it.
Why I can't see my linked image like above?

[Q] Moto G HSPA+ ATT speeds

Hey, I have a Moto G (XT1032) international version. I was wondering how everyone's data speeds were, I am using the "phone" apn and where I live (IL, US) I get 0.1-3mbps. I don't think im getting the speeds i should be getting on ATT's HSPA+ network. I've heard of the enhanced backhaul and how it increases speeds but I don't really know anything about it. Any suggestions?

Download Phone Testing by Diewland in Playstore and set preferred network to "WCDMA ONLY" this will keep it on 3G. I assume its on 2g hence the slow dataspeeds.

Thanks serophia, I ran a speed test right after that and I got 3mbps download, which is much better then what I was getting but I was looking for the 5-6mbps that other people get on their hspa+ smartphones

MT7-LT10 users: Speedtest on Tmobile USA

Hi for those who currently have this model in the States, can you post what speed you're getting for LTE/4G? Reports have seem to be spotty and I dont mind if you're roaming in your local region or not, just want to get a general consensus that it doesn't get stuck with EDGE speed all the time like some reports. Thanks!:good:

I just got mine today L09 version show 4g.L10 version I don't think so have 4g on tmobile network
Really? I thought it's the same hardware internally.
Regardless, im curious what speed other users are getting on tmoUS with their TL10. If it's a steady 5-10mbps i'm okay with that.
5-10mb definitely you can get
L10 only have H+speed on TMobile
thanks paullu. What's the average 4g/lte that you're getting with the L09?
Right now I am in Tampa Florida only have 28 download upload around 6 MB ,but when I go back to NYC will be more fast I believe
Verified test
TL10 has no LTE in usa. 4G hspa however on both att and t mobile is around 25Mbps

Tmobile LTE slow data

I have the note 5 and yesterday my LTE speeds slowed way down. From a normal 26 mbs to about 1 mbs today. I did dial *#2263# and changed my preferred LTE band to 4 but i am not sure what band i was on before.
I am assuming that the tower near me was updated to band 12. Is there anyway to select another band? Or tell which band I am on?
T-Mobile will throttle your data if you pass the cap on your plan.

I'm sure he would know if he was being throttled because the 4g lte icon on the status bar would switch to 2G. Sometimes their might just be a lot of people connected to the same tower.

No speed issues here, LTE or WiFi.
I'm located in a Band 12 area, so I used the service mode to tell my phone to prefer it over Band 4. My speeds went from ~20mbps in a particular area to over 70mbps, without moving an inch.
I noticed slower data after flashing the new modem

T-Mobile LTE in US isn't working...ideas?

I imported the 8141 from Clove in the UK. So far, my only real issue is I have yet to see it connect to LTE. I've seen "4G" and "4G+", but no LTE...which is a problem because I can barely pick up a signal other than LTE in my area. I checked and confirmed it's using the correct APN (fast.t-mobile.com). I'm on the 110/unlimited/unlimited $30/month prepaid plan and confirmed I haven't hit the LTE cap. If I put the SIM back in my Moto X Pure/Play, it hops on LTE without a problem.
Everything I've read says the radio should support T-Mobile's frequencies. Is there another setting somewhere I need to change? Do I need to flash another region's stock ROM (and is that even possible yet)? Did I get a lemon? Do I need to hold it a certain way like whatever iPhone it was a couple years back?
Any and all suggestions are welcome.
4G+ is the UK's LTE as far as iconography is concerned. Have you done a speediest on 4G+?
I've noticed the same thing, but I (as mentioned above) thought that LTE and 4G+ were synonymous. I think the only reason to flash a region based image would be to enable radio bands that are disabled based on location (which may be in this case).
Works fine here. Lower Manhattan using same version.
4G is LTE in US.
Download LTE Discovery and you'll be able to see if it is connected to LTE or HSPA(+). Mine, also from Clove, is just fine with AT&T LTE.

You are looking at the signals wront, I'm on T-Mobile and have 4G+ as well it's the UK version of LTE. Look at my screenshot.

4G is basically the same thing as LTE in this case. 4G includes WiMax and LTE. So when you see "4G" it means you're using LTE. The same goes with 4G+ - LTE-Advanced (LTE+).
I have LTE logo on my Z3 while Z5 Premium shows 4G while using the same network.
4G is LTE in europe. We did not have that silliness that some 3,5G was called 4g. Also there is no band limitations on XZ Premium.
For app to check which band of spectrum you are connected to, please use Cellmapper app (from my signature).
If you wish to see different icon in there, you could flash Customized DE firmware which has "LTE" icon. But this has only cosmetic effect.
Instead of making a new thread, anyone knows if VoLTE works with the XZ Premium for T-Mobile?
Currently no. You need region or operator specific image Flashed (oem.sin) but there is none for XZ Premium.
But there is hope as there is t-mobile us specific modem configuration in all region images.. which will be loaded when you have correct oem image Flashed.

T-mobile 5g with the S8

I will start off by saying I live in Seattle, the homeland for t-mobile. I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing 5g actually being slower than 4g. Not just by feel, but by statistics and facts.
This is the case for me. Now I understand 5G is not global yet, but I think New York has it. I am getting about 21mbps download and 12 upload with 5g. On 4g, I am getting 41mbps down and about 12 up.
My Wifi at home gets 475mbps download, and 25 up. Anyone else experiencing this problem? Thanks.!

Just got my OnePlus 8 Friday In Peoria just outside Phoenix and most of our cities are 5g tmo ready and getting the same have not had one test where 5g works faster then 4g..
I dont think it has anything to do with T mobile having its headquarters in Washington...
I think it was more John Legre blowing typical marketing smoke and some of us fell for it!
With full bars for me, I get 80+ mbps on 4G LTE and around 110 mbps with 5G. I live in Akron, Ohio. From what I've read, the (600 MHz sub-6) 5G that T-Mobile offers is more about coverage than it is speeds. mmWave is more for speed.

Are you able to post your speeds?
I live in Boise Idaho and just got the OnePlus 8 yesterday. I ran speed tests on my OnePlus and the 5G seems to be anywhere between 30mbps-60mbps faster than my 4g LTE is ?* Don't pay attention to the first test. That was on the outskirts of my town and I only had barely any service, just wanted to test it to see with basically no service how fast it could go.
I work at a Tmobile store so I think I can help a bit but I’m not speaking for the company. So your phone is working fine Tmobile has 3 layers of 5G: Low band , Midband, And High band. Right now the current 5G that is available across the country is low band the speeds are slower but you have much better coverage, with the sprint merger they will next be rolling out the midband which will give you better speeds but not as great of coverage as the low band. Then they will roll out the high band which will be super fast but not very reliable (Verizon uses only high band and the signal can be easily blocked) right now in NYC they have working on all 3 layers at once and eventually that will expand. The benefit of being on the 5G network right now is that it separated from the LTE users so there is a lot less congestion.
I'm in Philadelphia, PA and my 5G seems way slower than any 4G ever was.
Also close, just north of Seattle. I'm on ATT MVNO Consumer Cellular now as their LTE speeds are better than T-Mobile around here.
I tried a Mint Mobile 250MB trial SIM and drove around testing. I was connecting to normal LTE bands (2, 4, 12, 66,.. Couldn't connect to tasty 71) running 5G protocol. I ran through the data quickly but speeds seemed to be on par with T-Mobile LTE. Cell speeds around here have always been pretty congested.
I can't get Consumer Cellular to connect to ATT 5G with ANY combination of settings but that could be maybe OP8 IMEI must be whitelisted with ATT (thought they just did that) or Consumer Cellular doesn't allow 5G even though an old site page says they will.
In the pic the 5G one is the only T-Mobile test I actually ran outside the Google speed test page. Red icon is using single connection (more realistic) and green is multi connection.
For now I guess ATT LTE still faster.
Also what is 5G Smart Switching (or whatever) in settings page?

Sorry, just saw this. Been hella busy working on the house while the government recharges all the birds. ? When I get to an area where I live that has all bars, I'll post the speeds on 5G and 4G for you. My buddy just switched from Sprint to AT&T (iPhone 11 Pro Max) and he hit 186Mbps. Irrelevant but just still BS.
We are just changing the protocol using existing radio bands. Near 200 Mbps is the speed of my Comcast WAN. Outside very large single file downloads what would you need higher for? Not scrapin' just curious.

Having high download/upload speeds are nice especially if you stream games with your phone like I do. Regularly use Xbox Game Preview, GeForce NOW, and Stadia. Although I wish Google weren't such suckas and let you stream over LTE but hey, what can you do?
Here are my speeds taken directly after the 10.5.8 IN55CB update. 4G LTE, 5G, and WiFi.
Tmo speeds are abysmal in Dallas fort worth of anyone is wondering .
I'm talking much slower than lte, seriously around 15 to 27mbps if you're lucky. I only upgraded from the 7t for 5g and it's a joke.
Just FYI tmo says that's normal and to be expected too... ??
No I'm at anywhere from 45 to 70 mbs download and up to 40mbs up even with a vpn I. Seattle
Decent speed down at the Des Moines/Federal Way border. On 5G.
You guys are killing me! I'm an hour east of Atlanta. My LTE reads 16Mpbs and my 5g reads 31Mpbs. So it's definitely faster but waaaay behind you guys.
Great speed on 5 G. TMO added two more bands and it is blazing fast.
