My google account has unfortunately been locked to my home country, so that the only store i'm able to load on play.google.com is the danish store.
It doesn't work with a US VPN, but my test account works fine and connects to the us store.
Also i'm able to buy and rent movies and tv shows on youtube.com by going directly to youtube.com/movies, but doing the same thing on play.google.com, just tells me that the category i'm looking for is currently unavailable in my country.
Iv'e tried searching around, but i can't find any information that would help me unlock the account again.
Does anyone know if it is possible to unlock a region locked google account, so that it will access what ever store matches my IP?

I don't know if this could help you, I hired unblock-us and configured their dns to run on my home and office routers by default. After a month or two I got the US region.
You can also try to set up your google play pay method to a US credit or debit card, I also did that. Nowadays I have the full unlocked version of google play.
I'm sorry I don't know a lot since I'm not a dev but that helped me.
I am also very interested in this topic. I know this used to be a simple issue where VPN and clearing app data could get you around the region restrictions. However it seems that this is no longer viable.
I have been looking for a way around without using a local credit card or billing method to no avail...

I think Google has changed something... From last one month I am trying to access US play store using different VPN services but its not working anymore... I tried everything including market helper.. it was working fine before.. Does anyone else having this problem... Any solution...

Trying to find another way around it So I can play with a friend (Online). I tried countless VPN's and VPN Software none are working with it. I'm out of ideas...Anything will help...

Same here! bump, I'm also looking for this
Anyone? Could I just use a VPN between 2 phones. meaning both phones are connected to the same VPN?
So, when i attempt to open the aurorastore (it's on the latest version and i've reinstalled it twice) and try using the anonymous login option then the the app loads a moment and shows this error "you are being rate limited". I tought maybe because i used a VPN the there's to many requests from the same IP but even without a VPN the error presists.
I did grant aurorastore all permissions it needs to funtion and also added market.android.com aswell as play.google.com to the open links setting.
Why doesn't the app work?! Any fix?
Possible fixes:
1.
IMO the best solution to the "You Are Being Rate Limited" error message is to wait. Log out of Aurora website and wait for the rate limit to complete. The lockout usually takes 15 minutes. However, it can take up to an hour.
2.
If you don't want to wait then using a VPN connection may help, this because rate limiting is usually done at an IP address level, so accessing the Aurora Store through a from a different IP address, you will most likely no longer see the Aurora Store error “You are being rate limited”.
Waiting and changing the ip didn't work.
Fixed it by changing my DNS server.
Well, changing dns server seemingly worked last time but now the aurora store once again does not work.
When trying to login with the anonymous option it just says requesting new session and keeps loading FOREVER.
I have read that aurorastore only waits 20 seconds upon login attempt before timeout so no point in waiting if true.
So, the "you are rate limited error" is gone but now i'm stuck with "requesting new session".
Once again i tried changing dns server, using various ip adresses, wiped the aurora-app cache and reinstalled it serveral times, rebooted many times, nothing works this crap just seems to randomly work and fail, what the matter with a privacy alternative to googleplaystore if you can't even use it, exactly it's useless BS.
Aurorastore used to be a great app for me but this is pretty annoying to be honest.
FDroid doesn't have all the apps i'm interested in so without aurora can't get them.
Any help? All the articles i find about this issue are years old already and the solutions from back then don't work.

I noticed the same thing. Both of my devices were suddenly unable to use anonymous login with Aurora Store. Also, search has stopped working within the past couple weeks. This is because, according to an Aurora Store Dev here (currently a 17 hr old reply):

Bit unfortunate but Aurora Accounts are aggressively block by Google, which makes sense as we are growing in numbers. Yayy!!
However we have to take down Dispenser (Anonymous Login Provider) in order safeguard our account.
We're going to take a step back & figure out smarter way to do things.

same issue for me. Till tonight I thought it was an error from my side. So I'm waiting because I think I took every f-droid app I needed (Book reader, protonvpn, Markor, Amaze, mpv, vlc, seeneva and Fennec)
and was looking for few aurora apps.

I downloaded lots of apps I have on my iPhone. I don't have Gaaps nor microG and I can write, if it can be useful, that:
WORK:
- Panasonic app with wifi link between camera and Android works -> pictures transfered between both
- Better: Instax mini link app works: my instax printer works without any google trash.
- Plex OK (I have the plex lifetime pass to support the team) : android app is immediately recognized and doesn't ask to pay to unlock the 1mn lock
- proton every app ok
- radio france ok
Bad: difficulties to find a serious word processor+calc sheet that works (without paying in the app - impossble without gapps/microg)
Though there is a warning about the Gapps lack it works like a charm.
I'll continue to test if it may help. Regards
