Hello all,
Is it possible to modify the BlackBerry OS to have only Call and Message App? I know in Android ROM you can remove the system apps and then re-flash your custom ROM into an Android Phone, but on BlackBerry is it possible to do this? It does not matter what BlackBerry phone is. I have read that BB has a Software/Hardware security checks (I`m not sure), but maybe on older phones is possible? If yes, on which BB phone models it can be achieved (BB with QWERTY hardware keyboard)? and how? Or to install an Android custom modded ROM (that has few apps that I will allow it) on a BB phone?
Thank you in advance!
Best regards to all!

I have a couple of questions for the Rom developers/experts on here regarding things that can be done with Android ROM's.
Is a parser Rom upgrade possible? So is it possible to change a small part of a ROM and then allow users to upgrade their ROM easily?
So can I change a part of a ROM and then a customer can upgrade to the newer ROM without having to be technically savvy and needing to root and flash their devices?
Can a change be burnt into a ROM so that when a user selects "Restore Factory Settings" that it doesn't remove the upgrade to the ROM?
So essentially I want to know if its possible (with a device manufacturers permission) to add to a ROM some small additional parts and then give this new ROM version as a firmware upgrade to the device so that a user only has to "upgrade" and not go through the process of rooting and flashing there device?
I dont think that is possible. But then again I am no expert.
this is my question, if it's possible upgrade the android OS on my OEM device (chinnesse device)
i have a chinnisse phone with android 2.1 and i want know if possible upgrade this. something I read about this, I believe that first i need get the Drivers for hardware, it's possible extract the drivers direct of my phone ?
sorry about my english
best regards
I have a tablet that is branded by a small company, it came free with a subscription. It is a 2016 8" android tablet at v5.1.1, it starts up with their logo and apps installed.
I want to remove this and install a stock normal version of Android, I understand this is the site to find ROMs but for specific devices. Problem is I don't think this is any known device and is custom specced and built by this company.
Is there a ROM I can use for this tablet? or is there any details I can give so we can narrow down a suitable ROM?
Thanks
Hello friends,
i have a device with RockChip RK3228, custom hardware, with LG display, from one German company, which is working, but, wrong flashed and no working OS on it. Company don't won't to send firmware, but I have another same device, with android system perfectly working. Can I somehow install Android on that device? Can the working device system files help me with that?
Thanks for upcoming answers!

No I don't think that the OS present in another device would be very helpful in getting the OS of damaged device. What you can do is to install a custom recovery to your LG device and then install a custom rom on it. The rom would be very much customizable as compared to your android and even if you want to get your android OS then you can flash it. If you find any problems in flashing recovery or roms then feel free to contact me.
Hello all,
Here is my problem :
1) I'm 55 years old ... I have a second-hand LG G5 phone ... and I don't mean to change it ... for the next 5 years (unless hardware problems)
2) I don't mean to change it for several years because of money, age, and because I love this phone for its camera qualities beside its phone qualities
Considering this, WHAT would be the best rom or custom rom to choose and install on my phone (or any equivalent phone) to keep it safe (security updates)
To be clear, let's think PC and Windows ...
On my old HP notebook, still working great, (DV7, produced in 2013), I can run W7 (stock), W8 (upgrade) and W10 (latest upgrade possible so far, with W8 drivers) WITHOUT problems AND GET security updates ... from Microsoft update system no matter the system (W7-W8-W10 as of 2019) ...
Is there such a thing with Android ROMS ?
Older "stock or custom roms" with security patches with "up-to-date patches" ?
And what rom (custom I guess than stock) should I choose to get security updates as long as possible ?
Yours
Sorry for the "and" repeated in the title ... please, Moderators, cancel the second "and"..

You need to be asking this o2n your device specific forum here at XDA, the users there are the ones that are familiar with the various ROMs for your device and what is or isn't offered or available when using those ROMs.
I know it's a lot of work, but you're just gonna have to buckle down and get your hands dirty digging in the dirt and trying different ROMs to see what can and can't be done or what is or isn't available with the various ROMs available for your device. There is no easy or simple answer to your question.
