If it still happens after a factory reset it's a hardware problem. Haven't seen many but have seen a few that have done that.

Yes except for anything stored on your SD card. Remember you should always backup. Since this is your first Android device you may not know but the G4 is prone to hardware failure/bootloop so always backup that device just in case

You can move your files/photos over using file manager. But apps saved game content etc might not be as easily like if your coming from an iPhone.
They're maybe an app called Lg backup installed not sure if that's still a thing or not. It's very useful

My GF has a completely stock SGS4G that I just updated to GB via Kies. She is having issues with the phone locking up and rebooting randomly. This happens a few times a day. I was just wondering if you all had any ideas/hints/tips that you could give me to help her with this issue. She's not to happy with me that I updated her phone and will not let me flash any roms or even root it. Thanks in advance!
Factory data reset, maybe?
I learned long ago not to ever even touch my wife's phone.
No touch... no blame.
But yea... factory reset it. Back up all her stuff first and wrote down a list of her apps and such.

hahaha. that is SO true! every time i try to help someone, i always get blamed if something goes wrong..and its usually their fault! one time someone pulled out their sd card while playing music and it messed up the card and they blamed me because i rooted their phone...
anyway, OP, i had a similar problem on my dad's phone. i backed up my sdcard pics/music/docs and then went into 3e recovery. factory reset and wiped cache. then i went into the privacy setting and formatted everything including the sd card. this seemed to fix it for me.

Yeah. I lost my sgs4g by messing with my wife's g2.
Kies?
The OP said "...updated to GB via Kies..." So if your suggestion still leaves issues, I would pick of the stock rom from here (search for it in either development or q&a) and reflash. Others have reported problems with Kies, so I only used kies to the point where where I could receive the download from my temp folder, then flashed with Odin. Worked for me, but you may want to search for a link to the rom in these forums.

Recently my Nexus s started bootlooping.
First it was happening if the phone was powered off due to finished battery, now it happens every time i power it off.
What happens is, it bootloop on the google logo. In order to over come that i pull the battery out and turn it back on. After a few time (3-10) it would start up normally and not bootlooping.
I run stock 4.0.3, not rooted.
Anyone has a clue ?

my only suggestion is maybe a factory reset, you might have some corrupted files somewhere. but, my fear/concern is that your internal sd storage card might be going.
And if a factory reset didn't work, I think you'll have to use ODIN to flash stock 2.3.6 ...

Yes factory data reset only deletes all data on your phone not the SD card.

Okay, so i did factory reset and i'm still stuck on the bootloop. Need to remove the battery and turn back on until it doesn't bootloop.
Actually what happens is the google logo appear, then for a moment it turned off and comes back again.
simms22, why do you think it's internal sd damage ?
TheMatrix246, what's ODIN ?
Guys, you think if i root and switch ROM it could be fixed ?
I would appreciate some help here a bit lost.
One last thing before you contact Samsung:
Download Nexus S [i9020T/i9023] 4.0.3 Full ROM and copy to sdcard as update.zip
Go into bootloader
Recovery
Data/factory reset
Install update.zip (reflash all files of ICS)
Reboot and hope it works out fine
If this doesn't work for you i highly doubt rooting and changing ROMs will. This will reinstall the entire OS (format and install /system), bootloader, radio, kernel and recovery.
Do i need to be root user in order to do that ?
And just to make sure, this Full ROM is for i9020T ? correct ?
(mine says only GT-i9020 on the back, bought in Carphone Warehouse in England).
Yes, i9020T. If you get 3G with Orange, and you have the SAMOLED screen, you have the i9020T (and to my knowledge, 9020 on the back signifies i9020T).
Also, i don't believe you need to be root to do that. I'm pretty sure you can flash the same version ROM from stock recovery as long as it is signed, just not older versions.
First, thanks guys for the help.
After first doing the factory reset, it seemed the bootloop happens less often. At first i tought it was solved but then it rarely (1 to 5 reboots) yet happened.
Today i installed the Full ROM Harbb suggested and so far i have no reboot issues.
But i after the installation i saw OS wasn't reset. Does it suppose to (not) happen ?

You're welcome. Also, all that file does is replace everything in the /system partition (OS). All apps besides the defaults that come from the factory are not in that partition so are not affected. Hopefully your problem is fixed permanently
But it's generally recommended to do a full wipe when switching ROMs. It could be that you encounter other problems because of the ROM change without wipe. But you could also be lucky to have no problems. Just to remind you, when you encounter something wierd.
Problem is still there ....
Hi guys,
First thanks for all the help, but the problem still there.
I did the upgrade using the Full ROM as Harbb suggested. For the first 10-12 times i rebooted (i rebooted again and again) it was alright, booting successfully ... but then it stated occasionally to bootloop and now it does it almost everytime. usually takes up to 10 times i remove the battery and start the phone so it will start up and not bootloop.
Also, I'm sorry the taking so long to respond, the nature of the problem compelling me to test it for a few days so i will know if it works or not.
Should i root the device ?
If so , how do i replace / rewrite the boot program ?
I would much appreciate any suggestion.
I had a similar problem, bootlooping, stuck on Google logo when running 4.0.3 in the end I took it back to carphone warehouse who repaired it and now it's ok. I found that heating it with a hair-dryer made it stop bootlooping (but that's what worked for me). However the repair seems to have fixed any issues and its all OK now.

My problem is i bought the device also in carphone warehouse in the UK, but i live in Israel. Meaning i will have to send it to them by air-mail.
By any chance they mentioned what was the problem ?
also did they give you a refurbished device or a new one ?

Hey, thanks for the replay.
What does is mean to flash it ?
How do i do that ?
You noted it was returned unrooted, was it rooted before ?
Again thank you all for the help.
To be honest I'm a novice to these terms but know that they unlocked it(it was not unlocked when sent off) and reinstalled os 2.3.3 after a complete wipe. Details of how to unlock and flash (install a different os) are on the forums. If you follow the forum advice precisely the instructions work. I am now running a CyberGR rom of ics 4.0.3 that runs smoother than stock ics . Again found on these forums. Hope this helps.

Okay so I am running CM10 stable on i9023. Its been fine for like a month I think with just a couple of reboots. But today I have been getting reboot whenever I turn on bluetooth. Its a very ugly situation where upon boot the phone reboots again as soon as trying to turn on bluetooth. I then clear dalvik cache and cache to make it work again. However it seems like I really am stuck now it just wont boot anymore.
I have tried clearing cache again but it still wants to turn on bluetooth and reboots. Even took out the battery for several minutes but to no avail.
My titanium backup is a bit old so please what should I do here that doesnt require data reset?
Does nandroid backup also restore those apps which were moved to SD card?? Would it even solve the situation here?
Thanks.
Okay I finally got it running again but what do I do about the bluetooth problem now? I am scared even touching bluetooth now but I really need it from time to time. :S
So everything was fine for a few hours then I decided to do a normal reboot and bam I get the bootloop again. Something has seriously got messed up I guess.
Please anyone what would you suggest me?
Do a factory reset from recovery. If that still fails, flash the factory images and see if everything works.

How can you blame CM for that? Or any rom for that matters?
You had multiple reboots, the early ones which might have be caused by something unrelated to the rom, and the later ones something was probably corrupted. If data was being written when it rebooted on you, it's no wonder you'll have problems...

Well my bluetooth is now working fine after a factory reset.
Infact yes I did install/uninstall this app a few days ago but I suppose I cant be sure about blaming it for it.

It wasnt the first time CM rebooted on me, stock rom on the other hand was very stable.
And then this whole mess happens.
only had some bugs with newer nightlies.
reflashing the rom w/o factory reset did the job
idk what happened i was using my phone as normal and was using snapchat, then my camera crashed and rebooted my phone. then i noticed that i didn't have signal so i went to the settings and noticed that everything that has to do with ril is gone like imei, imei sv.
i have tried taking the sim out and back in but it wont work,
also my camera wont work, google play store crashes, but one weird thing is that my modem version does not show in settings but it does in when entering the bootloader. i flashed stock 4.4.2 but still nothing is working
please i need help, have tried searching the forums but cant find any thing this similar sorry if this has been answered before (and i don't have a efs backup because im stupid..)

Have you flashed the cache.img? Try flashing it 2-3 times... Or just head over to stock recovery and format cache 2-3 times and then do a factory reset.. These things needs to be done via the stock recovery and not a custom one.
I had a similar problems some weeks ago and this solved it!

i live in norway we cant send them to google directly it has to go trough the company where u bought it, say for an example my carrier telenor which would then deal with the problem. but i bought mine of ebay because i wanted it faster (due to problems of the 2012s nexus 7 where we didnt receive it before november.) so i guess the phone is pretty much useless now?

i had the same issue when running the Nexsense port. There was a known issue that it would break the sensors back when it first got released but the DL link got removed immediately. after that there was a post to correct the sensors. but there was another issue with it as well. seeing as it was a NAND backup, it was very possible it re-wrote you EFS partition on your phone which stores you IMEI and other data like that. The only possibility of getting that back, is if you did a backup of the EFS partition prior to having an issue. just a warning: DO NOT FLASH ANOTHER PHONES EFS PARTITION TO YOURS. the only way to get the phone to work again with a messed up EFS partition (from what i have seen) is through replacement device unfortunately

Out of the blue my Nexus 5 totally flipped out. It only recognizes 215MB of 16GB internal storage, the rest is missing. It's also not getting service. Also, every time I reboot the phone, it goes back to totally factory stock. So I tried unlocking it, successfully, but then on reboot it was locked again. Need to unlock and install custom recovery so I can flash a new ROM, but I can't because of the reset thing. Any ideas?

What logs? There's basically no storage on the device, and when I plug it into my computer, it sees the phone but it's totally empty. I did nothing to any partitions. This is my wife's phone, and she's been using it bone stock since she got it a few months ago. She wouldn't let me do anything to it, no rooting, no unlocking, and she doesn't do anything to it herself except use basic apps. It just started doing this on its own. I think we'll RMA it.
