The only way to ensure it has 100% been removed is to install TWRP and format everything, then reinstall the operating system...

I think just flashing the stock firmware might also do the job... but I'm not sure...

adb won't recognize the phones, and I'm using windows 7.
That's the problem. I hear windows seven is the worst for it. Try a vista or windows 8.0+
Actually, Windows 7 is fine. And Windows 8.1 won't work without some driver hacking.
I have a vista. ...and it worked fine. Try that.

You want me to completely reinstall an operating system..?
Edit
Scratch that, thought you meant adb drivers.

Um. I don't think mark meant install a new OS on your PC...lol. I think he means use someone else's pc
Wow.
Windows 7 is perfectly fine, no need to use a different OS. Do you have any other phone drivers/software installed on your PC? Are you using a usb 2.0 port? Are you using the original HTC cable?

I to have bricked my ls996 from trying to downgrade. If someone can dump all their partitions it would be great so that we may use Linux to bring our phones back to life.
