Your bug is strange... https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2519754
In all threads they say that editing of build.prop solved issue with WiFi passwords... I'll try to find another solution.

I'm wondering if it is possible for me to make the market believe my phone is a different model of my choice ?
Not sure, you could try editing your build.prop to a different phone and see what happens.................

Root explorer does a great job of this, dont know of any free file explorers that would do this...maybe someone can chime in...
Thanks a lot for your help so far I've managed to edit my build prop however I don't know how to re register my Google account its still logged into market as u20i any suggestions?

Root Browser
and
ES Explorer
are both very good free alternatives
Also a good example of what editing the build-prop to a different phone model can be found here
@TurnBOOM what are you trying to do? Are you trying to get an app that is not ment for your model/country? Whats this about re-registering your google account? Same account just a "different phone"
I'm trying to get an app that's not mean for my phone I've edited the build prop however when you first start your phone up with custom rom and load the market it registers your phone tpo your google account and shows the apps meant for your phone now I've changed my build I can't log out and log back in market so iot sees my phone as a different model
you'd have to register your account after having edited the build.prop file, at one time I had 2 Galaxy S2 and one HTC Desire S all linked to the same account, worked a treat..

Just delete that file off computer and redo the commands to pull the original off the phone again.

I saved it as the MOD so I have the 2 files. I kept getting an error on so I decided to skip to step 11. Ran those commands in.. (of course no unlock). I deleted both of the files, retried doing the whole unlocking process again.. once I get to step 6 to edit the file, its that same corrupt file :/.. Im sorry Im bad at explaining.

yea, no luck with the one click either. Thank you again for your help!
That "serial number" is your IMEI number. It's in the sticker on the back of your phone, in the Settings -> about phone section, on your box, and in other places. Just open the file and start at the end of your IMEI. Work BACKWARDS replacing the IMEI and then put 8 ones (11111111) at the end (the end if you're going right to left - the opposite of reading a book in English). Save the file and you should be good.
If you post the file here, we can also try to help you more. Not sure if you care about posting your IMEI.

Here's what you need to do.
Assuming that you have already rooted your device, use any file explorer app and go to 'etc' folder of your device. (I used Root Explorer and did this on my Samsung Galaxy Tab N8000).
In 'etc' folder, locate the file called hosts.
Touch/press and hold the icon of the file to get its context menu and open the file in text editor.
In the file, there will be one IP address to the localhost, i.e. 127.0.0.1. Leave this as it is.
There will be a second IP address which may vary depending upon your region or country. Put a # in front of it. (eg. #245.45.14.14). This will mark this entry as a comment and the device won't read it.
(I would suggest that you backup 'hosts' file before making any changes. In my case, a 'hosts.bak' file was automatically created when I saved the file after editing.)
Save the file and reboot your device.
This should resolve the issue.

That's really strange. You should be able to edit the file as rooting process needs a reboot too. Well you can still try a workaround.
* Copy all the contents from the existing host file.
* Create a new file either on your smartphone or use a computer to do so. Make sure the name of the file is 'host' (without quotes) and file does not have any extension like .txt or .doc. If the file has any extension, remove it while rename the file.
* Now paste all the copied contents from the existing file to the new one and then make the changes as I mentioned in my answer.
* Save the file and replace it with the existing one.
Let me know if this helps.

Dude are you kidding me?
Is editing build prop is more harder than flashing a zip file through twrp?
Its just alter a text or number .
And most importantly replacing stock build prop with customized one is causing bootloop but editing does not cause such issues for us.

Well am not kidding bud .
Just edit a number is obviously easy . But if a line was mis spelled by mistake will not let the device to boot
However you can restore stock build prop file from backup.
Its not a matter of backup but it would better making a zip for a noob . Who knows ? He might dont even know to restore after bricking
But the problem with flash build prop zip.
It replaces current build prop file which is causing bootloop already tried to create a one but due to above problem discarded it.
But there is no such problem with editing build prop file. So preferred this method.
Alright bro . We will have to end this discussion :highfive:
Ya sure let's end here.

For Samsung phones, you need to open /system/build.prop file with a text editor and change the line ro.securestorage.support=true to false and reboot. Now your app shoould show actual passwords and not hex string.

My S8+ not rooted so I can"t check, but that worked for my S7+ which is rooted. Sorry
You may want to try adding the line ro.securestorage support=false to the build prop. No guarantees here, and you will do so at your own risk.

Prycem is right. All of you need to edit build.prop file as he mentioned and it works ONLY on rooted devices. If you don't have that string in build.prop then you can add it on the end of file.
