Mate 9 earbuds question - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

Sorry for the noob question. I'm used to wearing the Samsung type earbuds. How on earth are you supposed to wear the Mate 9 buds without them falling out of your ears? Am I missing something? Thanks!

Not that I use them, but I wondered about that as well. I hope someone can provide elucidation.

You could buy those black sponges that provide cushioning and grip.

[Q] Add on IR sensor?

I'm disappointed there's no IR sensor on our phone, cause I could really use it for my TV not having a remote. I don't want a universal remote either. Is there any IR sensor I could buy and attach thru the charger port or connect to my USB OTG? And just like port the Galaxy S4 WatchON app to my phone?

You knew the phone didn't have one when you bought it. If it was that big of a deal why did you get it? Also good dude. I Googled headphone jack ir blaster for android and got several thousand results.

So, you'd rather have an IR blaster sticking out of the top of your phone, than buy a universal remote? You could probably find a factory replacement for your TV.

Wow, you two for so helpful!!! If you weren't going to offer up solutions, why respond to the thread? And "I found several thousand results"...how about you link one?
Anyway OP...check this one out. www.irdroid.com
uhh they did offer solutions... 1. use google! 2. buy a remote instead.... i'll even give you a 3rd one... get an htc one, perhaps a play edition if you like vanillla android.

Are you dense Sparky? I did offer a solution. Op said he didn't want a universal remote. I was letting him/her know they could probably easily buy a factory replacement. Learn to read Slick.

Sparky? Slick? Oh aren't you clever. He asked specifically for something for his phone.
Don't watch TV as it is mind numbing

Sure am. I gave my suggestion. Sorry it wasn't up to your standards. You don't like it then move on. No need to call anyone out. Especially when they're actually trying to help.

Sorry guys I didn't mean to cause all this. I didn't know what to Google. I looked up add on ir for android and it didn't really help. And I didn't know it didn't have one when I bought it.

Back cover creaks

Hi everyone,
I'm having a problem with the back cover of my Nexus 5. When i touch around the flash LED i can hear a suspicious creaking sound. I had never heard a problem like this un this forum. Should i order a replacement?
Thanks
Did you drop your device? Could be a manufacturing fault as well... If you can bear the slight creaking, just ignore it.. Else RMA it...
However, I don't see the point in RMA'ing a device for such a petty reason. What if you could get a device with other defects?
No, I didnt drop it !

Do you have the revised version?
Do you hear that sound when you touch around the upper right section of display? You might be hearing the power buttons rattle.

What do you mean? I'm talking about the bigger speaker holes, smoother plastic edge and tighter key holes/no sharp edges anymore.

Some have bigger holes than others. Some have less rattle in the buttons than others. Its not a revision

No, that's not the problem, it's something like that but in the back. The display seems to be ok for now

Ignore all those rumors. Only way to tell if you have a different newer revision is by checking in the Fast Boot Mode of your device. And as far as I know no production device has anything beyond rev 11. The difference in certain dimensions that you might have noticed is due to the different production assembly lines of various Nexus 5 devices.

Awesome! I thought I was the only one experiencing this. But yes I have the same issue. Upper left hand area makes a creaking noise when touched or handled certain ways.

Surely the thread is finished. It creaks. So what? Everything creaks. either put up with it or return it. What else is there to say?
To be honest, not even sure why this needed to be a thread at all. We have a "defects" thread AND an RMA thread. You could have posted in either of those

Its impossible to notice the Nexus 5 creaking unless you put it in some sort of a chokehold. It's a phone, who squeezes a phone?
Some of these people are just looking for things to pick at instead of enjoying the phone.

No headphones!

So over and over Verizon some how, some way finds a way to screw us, its customers, over. I opened up my box expecting there to be a new pair of Samsung ear buds in there. Nope. Verizon has done it again by taking away features that they think aren't necessary. What gives them the right to do this? I mean. Really? What idiot at Verizon decided that this was a good idea?
Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
Here's what makes me mad. The s6+ came with headphones why not the note too? Both should be the same imo
I know. Pisses me off that Verizon decided to do this.

Yeah I know I got some from Amazon last year that are great and were only like $20. From Japan or somewhere they sound much better then the Samsung cheap ones
Maybe they do it to shave some $ off the price? I think all the other carriers have headphones and if I'm not mistaken, Verizon note 5 is the cheapest of all? Grasping for a logical answer.

Buying at best buy the payment is 32 vs 33 a month from Verizon.

Not to be mean but what do you think those headphones cost for Samsung to make? I'd venture to say maybe 50 cents? Somewhere in that ballpark

I understand the cost to make. Truthfully the whole phone probably costs less than $100 to make. I was talking about the full price of the phone being cheaper than the other carriers. Listen, I agree....we should get the headphones. I was just trying to think why they don't. Its the only reason I could come up with.

No no I understand you meant Verizon note 5 is cheapest I was just pointing out they are super cheap headphones lol and Verizon probably gets the cheapest because they sell the most Samsung. That would be my guess
I guess I should go check the box, lol! I have two good sets of wireless headphones , so if it's not in there, no biggie imo, for me any way.

Note series doesn't come with headphones. S series do. Its been that way for a while. Samsung rep confirmed. Note users are generally more business use due to the stylus for signatures etc while the S series is more for the user to use on an arm band while exercising or for the general use of entertainment.

The only thing good about the Samsung stock headphones is that you can increase the horrible volume from the Note 4 with them (Perhaps the volume is better on the 5), however, since they generally break in a week, a decent pair of bluetooth ones make a world of difference.
You've spent good money on the phone, might as well spend a few more and buy some headphones. I use Jaybird Bluebuds X. <3 them.

My husband's Edge+ was $100 more than my Note 5.
$100 headphones (actually ear buds)?
I can't use ear buds, it hurts my ears, but still would've wanted them. My kids are always breaking/losing them, but NOT for $100.

Will you be getting a Live Case?

Looks like a nice idea, but too expensive for the quality case you'll be getting.
Will you be getting one? Also, share cool pics below that you will be using if you decide to get one.

New Style Shells

I've seen a story showing 6 new shells , dated about a month ago, but nothing from Motorola. Anybody know if they aRe going to follow through or not? Has this phone been a success for Lenovo? My fear is they just forget about it and this dies. I love this phone. Love the OS. Love not needing a case. I use my style shell and a tempered glass and am really happy with that.
I'd just really like some more shells
