Hey, Just got the mate 7 a few days ago. after reading through several threads it seems that 5.1 isnt out officially but a stable version is available through huawei as a beta test. How do I do this?
My model is MT7-L09
build # MT7-L09v100r001c00b120SP04
I'd rather not start with rooting but if I have to I guess I will.
Can someone direct me to the correct download for my phone? Is there one?
Let me suggest you to stay on B120 for the moment. The official stable Huawei updates availble trough OTA are not o different from B120 in terms of performance, but far from it in terms of battery life.
LOLLY is actually available as BETA only, so I don't suggest you to install it at the moment.
Bt if you are brave enough to install it (despite of my suggestions) you can find the procedure elsewhere in this forum.
Good luck!

Well, I guess you've answered my question. I can wait Thanks
So last week I finally ordered the mate 7 and right after I did it they announced the official Lollipop update (yay).
But after seeing so many unhappy users here I decided to wait for either official updates (which won't happen that fast I guess),
or I'll wait for custom Android L roms stock roms, since the fingerprint sensor only works there.
Does anyone know whether there is already someone on it, because I haven't seen a single rom announcement here on xda..
I did some research and found kangvips chinese 5.1. 1 rom on the huawei forums, and I've already seen a international kangvip rom here.
Does that mean that someone's translating/porting it for us soon or how does it work?
Link to Kangvips or HRT-Teams rom
Some owners here keep crying that they want Nougat.
I have a warning for you. Nougat soak on various devices has a history of problems. People that have sideloaded Nougat soak keep asking how to come back to MM (that can't do it fully, bootloader will remain on N). Now the official Nexus 6P started to have bootloops after upgrading to N: https://www.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p-users-experiencing-random-bootloops/
Maybe is related to Google's desire to "lock" down Android even more, maybe is just a plain design failure (bite more than they could chew) like in the case of Windows Me or Windows Vista, not sure. But be warned, if you rely on your phone for important day-to-day things, think twice before updating. Let others to be the guinea pigs.
PS: CM is not safer either, especially now after their announcement and when the future direction is not clear. Secondly, it is still based on Google's "N" code.

and this is an open source plateform .so this is common .
if you you want bug free os then use ios and forget about root and customization .
it is like two sides of coin .
if you want open source plateform then you will have to face these problems

IOS is bug free? Haha, best joke ever
You should read again what a soak test is. This may be not stable and/or have bug(s). That's why it should not be share here. Ppl who flashed it just want to have that last software without knowing if it works well or if it's ready for daily use.
About bootloop, this is not something new while jumping to a new major version. I'm pretty sure flashing clean works a way better
Edit: took time to read the article, its clearly said that's a hardware issue. Maybe you should read it too....
And for CM, last news are clear enough. Say welcome to LineageOS. All ROMs are based on Google sources, since it's the only one....
Thanks for the advice, but this is your POV.
I know what a soak test is. The problem is that a LOT (all of them?) of those treads claim "this is an official Moto" or just not say anything about being a soak test... Only one poster changed the OP title after I pointed out that he shouldn't claim that it is an "official" release.
Hence my warning - it is not for people that know what they are doing (more power to you) but for the casual drive-by posters that are lured into a false sense of "security". How many threads we saw here about that?
Also, we see more and more that even the devices that had an official Nougat, are not trouble free. Hardware issue? Why it did happened only after update to Nougat? The Nexus 6P is not a new device... more than a year old.
Maybe my title is not the best choice, but I wanted to attract attention of those casual posters.
As for LineageOS... I am skeptic. That's all I will say for now, since it was more of a parallel.
lol moto user for past 3 years , and i do know what is soak test is happy to flash it , face the risk with smile not by crying . There is always a workaround for anything
soak test is meant to detect bugs and other issues . so the are official one but not the final one . they can make minor Changes to the os to make it error free .
so they are not officially realized but are official .
and i have also rested it . and i found it bug free all the time . so i dont thing there was need to make major changes and you can also get updates after it .

It's funny how you say that soak has bugs and you can't downgrade, while soak it's lots better than mm and actually you can downgrade the bootloader too (why I'm so sure? Because I'm in the last soak and I have downgradeded 3 times without issues)

I went from a Custom MM ROM to a Custom N ROM on my XT-1644 and haven't had any issue on N Custom ROMs. Some of the Custom ROMs are now requiring you come from Official Lenovo Moto G4 N ROM required, but i believe it's only for the finger security scanner, which i dont...
Now because i went from custom ROM MM to N, i wonder if i can just restore my original firmware backup in TWRP? hmmmmm....

So basically you took the instructions found here and made video. Big deal... especially when you didn't actually downgraded a locked bootloader. Some users don't know that they will have to lose warranty if they side-load Nougat and want to go "back".
Anyway, the situation is that our devices don't have "official" Nougat and people that claim that are just misleading.
I'm going to sell my phone and running latest RR.
After reverting back to mm with relocking boot loader is safe or removing BL unlock warning is enough to sell my phone ?.
I'm aware about reverting to mm because last month i downgraded to mm for installation of latest soak without flashing got and BL, but then again installed custom ROM.
Current BL is 25.03.60r
I agree with OP. It is all very based on user experience but if you take a look through forums on this site you will see numerous complaints of bugs and issues in the nougat based Roms, soak test or otherwise. To anyone who says MM is bad is just not an Android person. It's something we as a community wanted for years and you be whining about not having the next version, which is my opinion isnt an upgrade, is really annoying. End rant.

I flashed a rooted stock backup from TWRP after being on an N rom back before the VOLTE bug was fixed with no issues. Never flashed soak test.
Hello people, due to the problems that I already commented on my other post, and that many of those who have the misfortune of having bought an ATyT phone, we do not find a solution to several problems, not even updates to Nougat as if they already have in Verizon and other companies. I contacted LG and they gave me a link where the source code was uploaded and everything needed to "cook" a Nougat ROM for the H900, only that ATyT leaves us dumped.
Going to the minds that are on this site, can someone cook the ROM? If I had the knowledge I would collaborate but never create one. We hope that some partner knows how and soon we have nougat in our V10. Then I leave the official link to download source code

Won't Work, Anyway...

You have to get the bootloader unlocked, and that's an AT&T limitation.
You're best hope is that if you have LP (5.1.1 - very unlikely), you can root.
But, upgrading to 6.0 breaks root, and installs an anti-rollback into the bootloader, so you can't root again.
Nougat (7.0) won't install at all with the locked bootloader.
I already upgraded to 6.0 and I'm facing those 6.0 issues... Anything that I can do to get my phone working fine again?

Are you signed up to the Motorola Feedback Network? https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Forum-...for-the-Motorola-Feedback-Network/m-p/3064626
Usually to receive these emails, you have to be a member and also have been selected at the time they are recruiting for the soak test. These emails, as I understand it, are linked to the user they're sent to, so you won't be able to sign on with another user's email. Of course, if you sign up to the Motorola test drive, please be responsible and report bugs that you encounter to Motorola.
Failing that, the soak test (if this is the soak test) may be leaked here on XDA. If it is leaked, be aware that there may be bugs and if you flash this soak test without being part of the Motorola Feedback Network, you may get no further soak tests or any updates unless someone captures the rest of the soak test updates. Until we know more about this update, downgrading back to Nougat may be risky and there may be a risk of hard bricking your device.
@echo92 remembers me at the time of the nougat soak test where no blank flash files were available. People flashed soak test, thinks won't work as expected, they flashed back stock mm rom and... Brick
Hope that people are more aware of this risk nowadays....

Oh, I hope so too - it was not fun (and still is not fun) telling users that they may have a fancy paperweight - even if our device is over 2 years old by now. Those times on the G4 Plus forums were crazy too... I also have a feeling that upon release of this Oreo OTA soak test or the official soak test, the existing blankflash may not work anymore. Motorola appears to have built in further protections or updated the bootloader to not permit older blankflashes to be used (as seen on the Moto Z Play: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77360506&postcount=385 )
Code:
[ 0.210] Waiting for firehose to get ready
[ 3.215] Target NAK!
[ 3.215] ...This version of programmer has been revoked!
[ 3.215] ...Rebooting to blank flash mode in 30 seconds...
In other words, be very, very careful if you downgrade your firmware and use OTA updates.
I'm from India, I've also received test drive email, but I'm already on custom rom
I also received this email, after I received and replied. After that, does it take too long to release the system? I'm from Brazil.
I am signed up for MFN and Oreo soak test and did not receive any email.
Any chance someone can share a copy of the soak ROM image?

If this is a soak test, then from the other soak tests, it's likely a couple of weeks to recruit the testers, then the test may run for a couple of months, during which you'll be issued various soak test updates. Depending on what bugs are reported, the official OTA may be released then or be delayed for further testing.

I may sound silly or like a noob. But i wanna ask something.
If moto gives oreo update, will that enable "treble" in our device.?
Or in other words will this update be helpful in anyway for treble.? so that it will be helpful for developers to build better pie ROMs

Hmm, i doubt we'll get treble officially for our device. We don't have a native vendor partition as far as i understand, and to get one would likely require repartitioning/erasing of data (especially as Motorola would likely want to keep the OEM partition). I understand other OEMs had an unused partition to use for treble, though treble is not a requirement of being updated to Oreo - only a requirement for devices launched with Oreo, from what i understand.
This update would be useful in providing updated drivers and firmware, which developers don't seem to be able to modify due to their closed source/proprietary nature. This, I'm hoping that custom ROMs would be more stable, less buggy and perhaps less work to make patches for the drivers to play nice on a Pie system.
From what I've seen of Treble, it does work to get a booting device. However, for device specific features, it seems that additional patches or a device specific system image are required. Thus for some, they may still prefer a custom ROM specifically built by a developer who knows their device. It's still impressive what can be achieved nonetheless.

With the soak test will come a new kernel. Will this help getting lineageos 15.1 support? Last I heard that was what was needed for better support.

I'm not sure about the kernel but I think it will help to finally fix the camera issues on Oreo roms
If the soak test rom does get leakd i wonder if it would work on the Moto G4 (XT1622) not the G4 Plus i have a Moto G4. But i have a Oneplus 5T now as i was tired of waiting for stable oreo
