Have you tried the terminal emulator method? It will moreso spoof your mac address as your actual mac address is hard coded.

[Q] HELP ! Same IP Disconnecting from Router.

Hi, My friend and me flashed and installed Android on our HTC HD2 today, we used the same roms and method.
When we try to connect to the same wireless modem, we keep disconnecting each other. I Think it might have to be something to do with the IP address.
As we used the same Rom and method to install android on our phones, maybe we have the same IP?
Any help is appreciated.
That can be be the case. check your settings in the wifi settings under wireless and networks and see if you both have the same IP address. then go from there. post your results.

[Q] Wifi: Obtaining IP address...

When I try to connect to a secured wifi it just sits here at Obtaining IP address... passcode is correct or it doesn't make it this far. It does the same thing if I try to tether to my N1. Works fine if no encryption is used... Any one else? I remember having this problem with my N1 a long time ago, but it was fixed eventually plus I just got a new router... My N1 and laptop connect to everything fine.

I have the same problem and a guy from LG wrote me this:
"The issue seems to be that if the router does not send a server ID to the phone it will reject the IP address offered. This is not limited to LG phones, but is an Android issue."
The solution is to enter the internet parameters manually through "use static IP". Does anyone know what parameters we need to type in "IP Address", "Gateway", "Netmask", "DNS1", "DNS2"? Thanks!

If you are connecting by a modem/router then in the firmware you can set one of the devices on your network to use it's MAC address so all devices appear to have that Mac address. As for changing the Mac address from withing the phone, don't know how it can be done or even if it can be done as I suspect the address is fixed to specific hardware.
It can be done, but I doubt its legality. It has to do with messing around with mmcblk0p3 iirc

[Q] Change mac address xperia s.

Hello,
We have 2 sony xperia s phones at home and i placed cyanogenmod 10 on both phones but now we seem to have the same mac address. Thus, if I go on the internet with one phone, the other will get rejected (connection with the internet is lost). Only one device can use wifi at the same time. Is there anyway to resolve this problem? I read the forum and I have seen the method for temporarely change (which, btw, doesn't work for me either) of mac addresses, but since we both had a different mac adress before using CM10, there has to be a way to change it permanently I guess.
Thanks in advance. Kind regards,
Siemie

Statically setting my IP address to one on a different subnet causes the connection to cycle repeatedly

For example,
The WiFi connects with no internet, DHCP address of 192.168.2.2 provided. I then manually change phone's IP address to 192.168.1.2 to access devices on a 1. subnet. The result? My connection repeatedly cycles. Traffic does briefly pass through but the cycling makes it unworkable.
My only workaround is to set DHCP on the router to the subnet I need to be on. If anyone's curious, this is just to configure Ubiquiti radios and to occasionally access backhaul equipment. I like being free of a laptop whenever possible.
I've tried tinkering with every modem related setting I can find to no avail. I'd like to grab proper logs but the app I got wasn't very helpful. This is a bit out of my wheelhouse unfortunately.
Has anyone dealt with this and found a solution? This is on a Pixel 7. Never had this problem on my S22.
I hope someone can help. Thanks!
Hi there. We've recently faced the same issue, so I'd like to know if you've solved it.
Hey there, thanks for sharing your experience with this issue. I can definitely understand how frustrating it can be when things don't work as expected. It sounds like you've tried a few different things already, but have you checked out https://routeripnet.com/ip/192-168-8-1/ for any troubleshooting tips or solutions? It might be worth taking a look to see if anything there can help. It's also possible that there's an issue with the app you're using. Maybe try a different one to see if that helps. Good luck, and let us know if you find a solution that works for you!

I reported to Google's issue tracker. I suggest you do the same.
