Will CyanogenMod 11 work/install after Nook HD version 2.2.1 update? Because I know that it works with the Nook HD's version 2.2.0...Barnes and Noble released an update in late January. I want to install CyanogenMod 11 (SNAPSHOT M12) but was wondering if it will still work since Barnes and Noble released an update to a "major critical security patch", and wonder if it would affect/hinder the use of CyanogenMod files or root and if it will affect the installation... thanks!

Firmware is the same for both Fire HD 8 and 10
Device Tools, Root/Un-root/Un-brick methods
ADB/Fastboot Drivers (Fire 7")
2016 Fire HD 8
No root method for 5.3.1.1 yet - 04 Oct 2016
Restoring Firmware steps should be the same as 2015 models
just use 2016 Firmware
2015 Fire HD 8 and HD 10
UnBrick Method
Unbrick/Restore/Downgrade Stock Firmware [Amazon Fire HD 8 & 10]
Root Method
5.1.4 may or not be downgraded, a couple of reports seemed that it could be downgraded, but it would be safer to wait...
5.1.3 and 5.1.2.1 cannot be rooted (27 April 2016)
but both can be downgraded to 5.1.2 (see restore firmware with stock recovery)
Root System Version 5.1.2
6 April 2016: Currently System Version 5.1.2 Root with
Kingroot KingRoot thread
then see rootjunky's supersume video

or manually install supersu with a terminal emulator

Note: If the Kingroot 4.x app repeatedly fails around the 30% mark, try Restoring firmware in Stock recovery.

The option to download other apps seems to have been removed on the 2015 fire hd 10.
Anyone have ideas how to get around this?
Maybe it is too early?

How did you get this link? How do you know this is the correct firmware? I am sking because it is not yet linked from the amazon support web site. Thank you.
You can examine my other threads referred to amazon and you can see that I never wrong)
If this firmware incorrect - it just not install, no problem.
I did not mean to offend you. I just wanted to know how you found the link.
No problem) it has been published by mistake a week ago and were available about 10 mins
Official links to software updates http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201830190
In case anyone was wondering, I did a hash compare between the file originally posted by ONYXis and the file posted on the official Amazon website and they are the same.

:good: Thanks, I'll give it a try!
Just checked on the code names it seems they are backwards in the original post. The HD 8 is actually "Thebes" and the HD 10 is "Memphis".
can you plz tell if there is away to root 10 and 8 inch
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.atari.Centipede - For example this game won't loaded fully. Go black after the Centipede logo or what ever it is. Doesn't even work on the custom ROM's with Android 5.1.1.
It does work on my other Tablet. Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 GT-P3113 (Red version) with Cyanogenmod 10.1.3 https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=p3110
There are a few other old Android games that won't work as well on the on Amazon Fire 5.1.2 and custom ROM's with Android 5.1.1.
Greetings XDA Team:
I've been looking all over the Internet (for a new article) in regards to installing a custom ROM on my brand new Amazon Fire HD8 Tablet but haven't been having any luck.
The current OS version on my tablet is 5.3.3.0 and I have the Fire HD8 6th Generation.
Could someone please guide me through the entire process of getting maybe Lineage OS or any compatible Android Custom ROM on my tablet please?
Looking forward to your kind assistance!
TaiJie
