I've been watching this section for a while and am wondering if anyone has any insight into whether there's going to be a solid N4 (non TPU) case similar to an Otterbox coming to market? I know Otterbox has no plan on producing a case for this phone and now that I'm on phone #2 since the last one fell off my lap onto the concrete, thus cracking the screen, I'm a bit weary about the available options.

I believe go ballistic shell case, trident case and seidio have announced that they'll be producing one. I have used casemate tough on my S2, which seems to be similar in construction [2 layers w.o front screen direct protection] to ionic guardian, go ballistic shell case, and it has survived lots of direct falls on screen too. So, I think these cases provide ample protection. [ Have heard good things about go ballistic shell case]

Awesome, thanks for the heads up. I actually have a friend with a Ballistic case on her phone and it seems solid. I guess I'll have to be patient for the time being.

i asked ballistic about when would they release the case since i was assuming it would be available before Christmas, but sadly they said the release would be most likely in January... but so far their case seems like the best option in protect from drops so far. No one else has release pics of how their cases will look other than ballistic

Yeah... the price is turning me off quite a bit. If the Diztronic one seems good enough then I might just stick it out with that one.
that ballistic is how much I payed for my casemate tough for SG1 which cracked on the back within a month. Another crack a year later from taking it off.
How will this case stack up for longevity?

huh? you want a premium protection case but paying 35 is to much? all the otterbox cases start at 35, 50, and 60. you no like, you no buy. i'd pay 100 bucks for a sick ass case. most of us paid 400 for this phone, so 35 to protect its beauty is nothing!

if i wasn't so concerned about getting the most for my money I wouldn't have gotten a nexus 4. I'd feel a bit silly if I bought the case and didn't think it was worth as much as it cost. All i want is better protection for the phone. I don't really care to pay extra just to have a certain brand name on it. hence I will look for the best value with good protection.
If they want more cash they'll have to up the features beyond rubber and plastic.

I have used the typical cases on my phones before - like Otterbox and Case-mate - but I am looking for something like a Ballistic case for my brand new GS4. Do you guys have any experience with the Ballistic Shell Gel case or something similar?
I am not interested too much in the Otterbox products anymore and looking for something durable; but without too much bulk.

I just searched it on Amazon and it looks to have some pretty good reviews. Do you know of anything more like a Ballistic case with rubber corners? I drop my phone a lot ( I know!! I need to be more careful!) and want to make sure it is protected.

I suggest you the Spigen neo hybrid cases it's great...
+1000 for UAG cases, they are the best in my opinion without making your phone bulky

One word - Urban Armour Gear!!!
wow - thanks for all of your input! i checked out some of these and the UAG looks pretty good for what I am looking for. I also came across the iOttie Notch Case - does anyone have any reviews on this? It looks similar to the UAG and Ballistic but really priced where I can pick up a few for the family.
Also, are these cases you guys are advising good for the ports with chargers and cables etc? That is another pet peeve of mine with tons of cases.
I work in pretty extreme, EXTREME conditions and the Otterbox Commuter serves me well.

All the ports on the UAG are perfectly cut out. I've had no issues with mine. I originally had one for for my gs3 and when I got this phone, the UAG was the first accessory I went looking for.
I would very highly recommend the UAG!

I've been reading and looking for few days now and this is my contestants list ( in no particular order ):
* LG Nexus 4 Ballistic Shell Gel SG Series Case
* Case Mate Tough Case For Google Nexus 4
* Ionic Guardian Armor Case for LG Google Nexus 4
* Exact Armor Case for Google Nexus 4 Smart Phone
More options will be welcomed if you think they will fit the theme of these cases ( hybrid, no stand, bulky ).
So what do you guys think? Wich one should I choose?

If you're on a budget, Ionic and Exact should be fine. But I really like CaseMate.
That casemate looks good. The ionic and exact seem more feminine, they're the same correct? The ballistic meh.. not really digging it.

dont you think all those case make your phone big and covers up everything. they spend a lot of time designing the phone, its suppose to be shown off. i believe a screen protector and a clear tpu case will be enough to protect the phone. tpu case will be enough to protect the phone from a fall. just my opinion.

yup, thats why i stick to oem bumper or ringke fusion at the most.

Budget isn't an issue for me... And I also like the Case Mate because I had it on my Galaxy S II... Remarkable case.

Ionic and Exact in did looks the same but they are made by different companies... And I must disagree on you on them looking feminine, the look to rigged

I currectly have the Bumper... I always have the feel that if I drop it, that's it for the phone.

That's true. My friend had a bumper on his N4, he dropped it on carpet and the back glass cracked. But then he just put a dbrand skin on the back, and it's not noticeable anymore.
Have you looked at the acase cases? I have one on order, it seems like it might fit the bill perfectly.

Unfortunately they do not have a case for Nexus 4. Like many others... :crying:
They do. Look a few threads below this one. I just ordered one on Amazon. There's video reviews on YouTube as well.

You are right. But for some reason it does not appear on theirs website...
Anyways. It is indeed a nice case... after checking few reviews and pictures I will not buy it because it has a smooth back plastic cover.
From my experience it is not the best thing to hold when your hands are sweaty.

Have 3 at the moment but thinking of sending the neo hybrid ex back as I also have a speck candyshell grip and a supcase unicorn hybrid slim. I am thinking of picking up a leather sleeve or nice folio or perhaps a supcase pro which I had for my G3 and it kept that phone in pristine condition.

True, it feels nice naked, but I'm just so paranoid about dropping it without a case on lol. I've never been worried before as they have always been contract phones, and basically paying like £15-25 a month with your minutes and data. But this is the first one I have bought outright and simply because of the way it looks and its overall design and I actually like the camera hump at the back and think its one of the more unique looking designs out there. The fact that it is a beast in size and performance also helped sway the decision

That looks real slick with the clear case. Have you experienced any drops with the Spigen cases and if so how did they hold up?
I currently rocking 4 cases which one was came free with the phone.
Too many.

I haven't dropped the 6P yet but I dropped phones with the Spigen cases in the past and they always showed no signs of damage and they protect the phone very well. They are made to withstand impacts on the corners. They call it "air cushion technology."

I'm afraid this will be me soon lol. Looking at some handmade leather pouches which look fantastic but don't come cheap. 1 or 2 more and that's it lol
They sure do look good and if they hold up and protect the phone, then I might keep the neo hybrid. I just can't see myself using it anymore though, after having bought the candyshell, but I'll see how it goes.

Yeah I thought about getting the rugged armor and may still do in the future but for the time being I have sent the neo hybrix ex back. It's a really nice case and I liked the finish on it, but the side with the button started coming loose and left a bit of a gap (which seems to be a common issue from what I've read on this forum) and simply couldn't justify paying £16 for it to start doing that after 2 weeks use. The candyshell grip is the one I am rocking on a daily basis now and I have to say is an excellent case. I hear you about the accessories and covers in the shopping basket, I will be buying a leather folio and a leather pouch and a few more cables me thinks.
i just have the Supcase slim. Id recommend this case because it protected my nexus from a 5ft drop right on its back! But im looking for a good flip case!

I am coming from the GS6, and have a Neo Hybrid on it. It is the best case I have every used. Little to no added bulk, and awesome protection. I have dropped my GS6 all over the place and dont have as much as a minor scratch on it.
I don't know where the post is but someone on reddit had a link that showed Spigen tweeted it would be on the Spigen site by weeks end. Code: fallfest gets you 20% off on their site until 10/28

Funny the case isn't on the Spigen site yet when it is in the header image for the Google page on the Spigen site. One of my favorite cases Spigen has ever made. I have it for multiple phones.

These are available on eBay direct from Spigen for $16.99 and free shipping. All three colors are there. The only catch is that it is a "pre-order" and they give an expected deliver date between Mon. Oct. 31 and Fri. Nov. 4 as of now. Amazon and the Spigen website have them for $24.99 and not all color options on either. I don't exactly get it but I'm in for one.

I got mine today. Got the blue one for my black Pixel coming tomorrow. The blue looks really nice. The case feels nice in the hand. Also the case makes it pretty much the same size as the 6P without a case. https://imgur.com/a/Tw8Nk
Ended up with the blue version easier to find the phone. Really wanted a clear case for my silver phone. However I want one that protects well but can not seem to find one totally clear. Would love to go naked with the phone but it costs too much not to give it full protection.
Got mine this morning. Nice case to be fair! The back is a nice soft touch material and the added bulk isn't too bad. It's a nice snug fit too which is reassuring. I imagine it is fairly impact resistant due to the outer plastic surround.
Still not sure if I will use this or the clear spigen tpu case which is a little less bulky and holds on to the prettiness of the phone, of course provides less protection than the neo hybrid too mind.

It's so so expensive, as nice as it looks...
$25 bucks for a case to protect your (minimum) $750 investment really isn't so so expensive. Just my opinion, but you are certainly entitled to your own.
Got mine in yesterday and I'm pretty happy with it overall. It looks great and feels like it should add a good bit of protection. It is just a touch bulky, but not too bad.
I also grabbed the Neo. I was hoping the bumper was aluminum but it's not....
