I know Bension has published a list from Nexus testing and now for the Pixel. Does anyone know how we can test our own cables with the Pixel XL , preferably with ADB. I have CheckR (not supported for Pixel) and Ampere, but I am not 100% confident with these apps. Any suggestions?

Hello Everyone,
I am waiting for my Pixel XL to come in and was going some accessories shopping. Has anyone tried or can verify USB hub support?
Something like this is what I am thinking https://amzn.com/B01EAIV5H4
It states that it works with a 6P so in theory it "should" be fine.
Does anyone use a USB hub with their pixel? Recommendations for multi-port hub?
Thanks,
Wow if that works, that would be nice.
This works great on my pixel C: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015E54IW6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I can verify it works on the Pixel XL when i get home. I wouldn't expect it to work differently though.
According to multiple sites and the Google store, the specs sheets lists the Pixel 3 & 3 XL having a "usb type-c 3.1 gen 1 " Port. This is not what we had in the Pixel 2.
Any thoughts on additional capabilities this can provide? Hopefully USB Type-C to HDMI out?
That's exactly the same port there is on Pixel and Pixel 2.
No other features added.
That's so sad and the reason why I didn't buy it
I know the Pixel 2 series didn't support USB-C to HDMI cables, but I was wondering if that's fixed on the Pixel 3 or whether Google still expects everyone to use Chromecast?
Desktop mode is one of the few brilliant things about my P20.
No, it doesn't support any USB-C Alt-mode.
Shame, but expected.
Does anyone one know if the new Pixel 3a supports this or screen mirroring??? Its been my biggest set back from getting these phone and saw that its said USB 3.1 which supports it, so Im hopefull.
No hard confirmation yet. I'm sure SomeGadgetGuy will give a proper update at some point just not sure when we can expect it
No, the Pixel 3a is USB 2.0, not 3.1 (you can check Google's page for the device).
One of the previous threads did point out that the last Google sponsored phone which supported HDMI output was indeed the Nexus 5. At the time around the Nexus 5X/6P, it could've been argued that it was due to Cast capability (and forcing you to get that ChromeCast or AndroidTV). For the original Pixel - there hasn't been much movement on the Android side but lots of helpful additions to support ChromeOS.
I'm not so sure if the lack of display output over USB C will be taken as lightly for the Pixel 2/3 gen devices with all desktop mode info coming out.
For the Pixel 3a/ 3a XL, the price does play a factor and it won't be a big shock if the feature has been omitted. It's not something to be happy about but it's something which can be easy to understand.

del mobile connect, its not brilliant for mirroring but shows it works
Might be a cable thing but I just gave it a go and failed.
Everyone was saying that it wasn't possible, but I finally figured out how to do it on my Pixel 3a XL! I uploaded a YouTube video so that people could see it actually is possible. Just search YouTube for the video title, "Pixel 3 to HDMI Video Output (using a WIRED adapter)" Basically you need to use a DisplayLink certified USB video adapter. I recommend that you get a newer adapter than the one I used because the frame rate dropped pretty bad at full screen and it put out really choppy/laggy video. I also tested it out on a USB-C powered DisplayLink certified monitor with the newer DisplayLink graphics chipset and the video was real smooth at full screen playback and while gaming.
Oh and you will also have to install the "DisplayLink Presenter" app/driver on your Pixel 2/3/4 phone from the Google Play Store.
Hope this helps!
I regularly use a USB C to Ethernet adapter for work to perform direct wired speed tests. The pixel line has always been hit and miss with this ( pixel 3 didn't, pixel 3a did then lost it, pixel 4 did). Can anyone confirm if the pixel 4a supports this?
Works fine here.
