Is a LG G4 made after 0509 safe from bootloop - AT&T LG G4

Will LG fix if it does bootloop?
Anyone had a new (replaced) motherboard that failed?
This is a great phone. I am a big fan of removable batteries.

my buddy is having this issue right now. im gonna attempt to fix it but im not hopeful. on reddit and android central several people with 510 or 511 i think still had the issue. one guy was on his 4th g4 with several different S/Ns all boot looped. so im sending good prays and vibes your way lol

Another dead phone

Hi, I have flashed many different roms with no problems on HD2 and Desire S. This evening I thought I would try another Rom (why oh why), so duly wiped and done the usual preparation, but this time it just stuck at HTC for over half an hour, tried rebooting but nothing, tried all the ways on the forum to restart without taking the battery out, in the end I made the stupid mistake of taking the battery out and putting it back in . Well you know the rest, dead phone fried chip I think.
Now my questions are 1) its on contract from Tmobile 6 months ago, the device is obviously S-off so am wondering if I can still get it fixed by them. 2) How much does it cost to have a fried emmc chip replaced if I send it to HTC.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I sent it to HTC without the battery and got a repaired phone free of charge

Hi Dan. Can you tell me the process you went through and is your a contract phone
Can you boot into Recovery or Bootloader? The bootloop can be caused by many reasons, not only eMMC
Hi, can't boot into anything , the phone is just dead, doesn't do anything, no power.
correct me if im wrong but dosnt emmc failure still boot? im not 100% sure thats your problem
Ok, but I tried everything to power up with no luck, I know there was at least 80% battery when I used it, also nothing when I plug it in to the mains.

This is a completely bricked phone (whatever the reason that caused it). But in this case the repair cannot state that it is S-Off. So go ahead for a replacement. There is a way to unbrick it (JTAG), but never heard so far that the HTC repair centres use that - all the problematic devices were just replaced, not repaired. Good luck
Ok, I will have to try and get them to replace it then. Many thanks for your help.

Find a person in your area that owns a JTAG, there is a great chance to fix them.

[Q] SGR Dead :(

Hi all,
One fine evening last week, I found my SGR switched off. Initially I thought that the battery must have drained out. But after connecting the charger it showed no activity. Windows didn detect it, rather asked for apx driver. Gave it to samsung service center n they told that the motherboard needs replacements. Now they are saying that it is diificult to get hold of, coz the model has been discontinued and that I should wait for sometime.
Has any one faced this kind of situation before?? I was using stock Indian rom witht aradat's Kernel 1.4

Hi buddy where are you located in India ? What sort of service is this ?
I also have reboots, but they are rare.
I am currently located in bhubaneswar. Gave the phone to samsung service centre
Lil bit of research
I found that apx mode is for nvidia Soc's . This mode is a very low level mode in order to write bootloaders and other stuff. That's ok. But I cant understand how on earth a normal working phone suddenly decides to go into this apx mode ?

Mine reboots once every two to three days. I have a weird feeling it is hardware related, but I can't tell for sure. (I think it reboots on regular physical impact, like placing the phone down on a table but I've been unable to reproduce the problem.) I'm holding off on calling Samsung unless the problem intensifies.

Mail the Samsung CC in India asking your money back explaining the situation.
How in the world can these guys say components are not available for a recently launched phone ?
It must be work of some employee of Samsung that its taking time for them to get you a motherboard replacement. But do mail them, you'll get their email from Samsung India's website.
Please keep us updated on the proceedings on this thread, it will help other owners if they face a similar issue.
Update :
Samsung service centre ppl called me today and told me to submit all the accessories that came in the box, the proof of purchase and everythin including my bank details. They told me that samsung will refund my full ammount. When I talkd to them about a new phone, they let me talk to a senior guy at some head CC. He cooly told me " Sir, I am sorry for the inconvenience but you should know that since the production of this model has stopped, there are no spare motherboards, moreover you are getting the full ammount"
My opinion :- If the production has indeed stopped, then there is no future for this device. sell it if you can
Dude its not like that, it could be a regional availability issue and not country wide.
But its a loss for you man !
YEah sorry about your loss, but....selling a damm good phone for max half of the purchase price doesn't seem sensible CM7 and stock ICS is on the way. I really don't need much more
Wtf Samsung . Wtf .

Didn't get what u meant. I will get the full amount I paid for the phone. Rs 22000 or 440$. If CM is comming then I could buy it one more time
I was just referring to your last recommendation: "My opinion :- If the production has indeed stopped, then there is no future for this device. sell it if you can"

Dude could you edit it out of your post, so it doesn't give the wrong impression buddy.
Hi all,
Sadly, I faced the exact same problem today. My phone was working fine, then suddenly it shut off and failed to start again. I have also been suffering through reboot issues but few and far between. Its totally unexpected how a phone can just go dead without doing anything. I was aghast at this! I have given it to Samsung Service. Reading this thread even I am not optimistic that they'll be able to repair it. I just hope they dont pester me into accepting an Omnia W or Galaxy S because in no circumstance I am going to accept it. Zerocool, buddy you are lucky to get an entire refund. I cant believe how they can launch such products in the market. I'll have to think twice before buying a Samsung again.
BTW: Zerocool, buddy how much time did they take to process the refund and through what mode i.e. did they offer a voucher or Cash?

[Q][P500][BRICKED] How do I have it fixed ???

Greetings all! I have been a Lg optimus user for some time, being that it is my first official android phone. Sadly it was bricked and is just a very expensive paper weight now. Due to the fact that armv6 processors are becoming outdated i was considering geting a new phone, preferably an HD one, but I digress. My main problem is that I would like my LG to at least function, but I live in the Caribbean and it is out of reach of an offcial LG repair center. I very well know that it may be a lost cause but is there any advive that others can give from past experience that can help me with my present conundrum? You are well come to flame at me for this possibly inept question, as long as I can get help and move on in the mean while untill my new phone....I love the Optimus one and even so would like to have i as my little past time.:highfive:

Does it turn on at all? If you pop the battery out, put it back in and hold Volume UP+Back+Power does it get to Emergency Mode at all? If it does you might be able to recover by flashing the original/stock firmware, follow this post here:

I've tried that a few times but to no avail... :crying:
I've held down every single button, squeezed every single part, and even shaked it a bit since some people say that it some times works. The phone is very fresh, a few months old and I haven't even taken off the screen protector yet...
I've even tried putting it to charge for some time, pressing some of the puttons while plugging in the charger or USB cable. I don't know if i can have it shipped back to the US to be fixed or otherwise.
Thanks for the input...:highfive:

Well if the phone isn't turning on at all then you wont be able to flash the stock rom. I guess you havent tried flashing a new baseband or rom. You might have to go ahead and send it for fixing since it is under warranty.
How many days do you have phone bricked??? Just asking because you could have a empty battery and thats why combo its not working its a long shot i now but sometimes happy things appen...
Best of luck

All I think I have to say about that is ...KDZ updater...During the update I got an error repeatedly so I unplug and plug it in again but it didn't work so I (this is the part that I regret the most) I just unplugged the battery and tried to do it again, and thats how I ended up like this...the point is I know it's bricked I just wanted to know if I could have it fixed without being in the USA.

I'd skip the LG G2 and wait until after Google IO. I've used the G2 for the past seven months and then broke the screen. The problem with this is not the replacement it's the digitizer has factory defects which causes the digitizer's to only last so long. The replacement screens are not up to OEM quality. The G2 is a fine device as long as you can find one that is in good condition and not had the screen replaced. In terms of dev, things are going "okay" over in the dev forums. They are working on roms and such but it seems to have slowed down here recently. I'm personally looking forward to the G4 to be released.

LG G4 stuck in bootloop - RMA only solution

My AT&T LG G4 got stuck in bootloop today 810, ser. number 505, H/W 1.0, on 10o, no root, all stock. Apparently this is a hardware problem that has been affecting more and more G4 owners:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/help/lg-g4-stuck-bootloop-t3268734
Called up AT&T, and they're sending another G4, which is the only way to fix this. Warranty will continue through the end of the original G4.
UPDATE: Received the replacement G4 from AT&T. Unfortunately another 505 serial number, H/W 1.0, with 10o.
Yea that happened to me too... I bought it at launch weekend. Replaced under warranty
Sent from my LG-H810 using Tapatalk
Yep just happened to mine the other day. was look at a forum web site and the phone locked up then boot looped. called the att warranty center and they sent me a "like new" one. positive not about the new one it was manufactured 12/23/2015 according to https://imeidata.net/warranty/lg
Add another AT&T variant to the failure list. Mine froze and went into irrecoverable bootloop Saturday night. It's on the FedEx truck now to the LG Ft Worth Repair center. The more research I've done, the more I'm seeing it's a common hardware issue. I'll be posting mine for sale the second I get my replacement or "repaired" phone back. I'm back to using my first gen Moto X and I forgot how smooth it ran. I think I'll be getting the X Pure Edition to replace the G4.
is there a way to factory reset the phone. my phone just died this morning and i just spoke to ATT they will be sending a replacement. not sure if my phone rooted will void anything
Another AT&T fail. Mine died a week ago. Serial 505. Lasted 8 months. Replacement is also a serial 505.
SN 806
Ive seen some posts and I have had this happen to day halfway to a meeting and lost my gps and contacts. I have an 806 serial and anything to save it would be great. I dont know how to get to dload mode or I might try something more.
My friend's G4 AT&T fails to. She asks me to help her but there is no way to make it work. Really confused. The problem is she buy the AT&T version, and then buy the unlock code to make it the international one. Now she stays in Vietnam, not US, how can we get the warranty ?
that isn't good. so this just happens randomly? I'm on 10o all stock with 505.
Same here. Happened the morning of January 28 (1/28). Started bootlooping. It would sometimes get past the AT&T logo, but most of the time bootlooped at the LG logo. AT&T did an overnight replacement which was a much newer hardware version. So I'm suspect based on the HW version this was a new phone not a refurbished. Still 5.1 (no marshmellow). It has been flawless. Even taking my 128GB microSD which failed to work on the previous hardware - which would spontaneously software eject.
AT&T said it was probably related to the Android 6.0 marshmallow update. The store rep said that I was the 6th person to come into the store with the same issue. The tried factory reset themselves with no avail. Then had a phone overnighted to my home.
Sure sounds like a hardware issue with the H810.
Hey guys,
I have a confirmed fix that i applied to a friends phone.
It involved opening the phone up and applying pressure to one of the chips.
Will post video/more info for those who are interested.

Some of the other G4 boards here on XDA show G4's that have been disassembled, and the motherboard is baked in the oven for several minutes. This apparently melts and the resin or adhesive that holds the chip that is causing problems. After heating up, the chip apparently re-seats itself, at least temporarily, allowing the phone to boot up. Apparently it's easy to get the G4 apart, but that probably would affect your warranty. At least you could get valuable info off the phone if that was absolutely necessary.

Same here guys . LG G4 BOOTLOOP STUCK .. . Now I have a cheap phone ( Alcatel idol 3 ) wich works better than lg .and super fast unfortunately front can not good as lg ...bit is OK my lg is now at garbage RIP. LG G4
Mine's a 508... However it still affected me, when I called LG they said it's probably an update, however it never completed it. TurnOn > Freeze > BootLoop. Looking at the PR Distributor cause well.
Can you believe Claro PR (my carrier) didn't accept it cause it has a bruise on the top right edge (metal side, not even the screen), when I asked LG for repairs (phone call) they said they won't take it either (the first time I called), the 2nd time I called they said they wouldn't take it cause the LG-H810PR is apparently an International version, and so I needed to look up with My Carrier (Claro, yay...) ultimately, I read this >> http://www.androidauthority.com/lg-admits-g4-bootloop-problem-hardware-fault-669603/ << And it led me to PR's LG Distributor and hopefully they'll do a repair or give me a replacement. If they don't, well you'll see me doing a topic.

Where is the serial located ? I have my box.. tried to call local AT&T & they said they considered the IMEI to be the serial..
Would like to confirm if the one I got is a 505 or not..
Mines a 509 just shut off in the middle of chromecasting from plex, and just loops at the LG logo. I got it as a replacement in December for my G3 that randomly died. I going to fight ATT to send me something other than another G4.
