Hmm try using the Camu app from the play store.
Hi friends! I solve my problem!!!
The internal memory is encrypted. So, I have wipe the data, in the second option on the TWRP, that option were we type "yes" to confirm. Than I reboot the recovery, and I got it to flash the ROM.
It might be better to highlight this in the tutorial.
Bye!
In 8050D cam work?? If want back to the stock, just must flash firmware with Mobile upgrade S? Then recovery will be back to stock?

Nothing really "new", just a dedicated thread for the updated CWM.
People will no longer need to look for it in the CM11 Thread
Installation:
Make sure you have a JB bootloader (and not ICS)
flash it with flashify from play store or via fastboot using following command:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-cwm-shreps-6.0.5.0-a510.img
Download:
recovery-cwm-shreps-6.0.5.0-a510-a511.img [2ad0a1c72dcfce5ba617b408971130a4] (LZMA Compression+LVM support enabled){based on CM11/Android 4.4.4}

Warning !
Booting on CWM with LVM enable will format /system and remount it using LVM => /system will be 677MB free space instead of 350MB
Make a backup before flashing & booting on it !
Only ROM with LVM support will be compatible with this Recovery.
To get back to normal "/system", flash a regular CWM or TWRP recovery and format /system
Then restore a backup or flash a "normal" ROM (without LVM)

Hi,
yes, it's like all other custom Recovery for A510, if you are on a stock ROM you have to remove the stock recovery by flashing the "remove_recovery_from_rom.zip" script

Hi Shreps,
thanks for the answer. I was more asking, if there's a preferred "remove_recovery_from_rom.zip" script => if there's only one script, I guess it's the one, that is in the NoThrills thread (CWM-based recovery 6.0.1.9 for the Acer Iconia TAB A510)?
Many thanks for your work and help

Very interessting,
I can download everything from your downloadpage except this 2 cwm recovery links.
If i try with "save target as..." it saves only a .htm file.
When i direct click the downloadlink - it will open the .img in the browser. !?!
My browser is latest IE11
Edit: Now downloaded with Opera but 6.0.4.7 MD5 not matching, 6.0.4.5 is ok!
Thanks for the updated recovery. The MD5 on this thread is incorrect. I downloaded the recovery a few times on different devices and each time got the same different MD5 so figured flashing it was safe. It was and I am now on the new recovery.
MD5 should now be fixed
After lots of hair-pulling, I learned that this recovery version can not flash the original Acer images, including the nothrills customized one. Maybe it is not made to work with anything pre-JellyBean?
I was trying to flash back to Acer rom in order to update the bootloader to the JB version and had no luck with this recovery. Kept getting error status 6 and 7.
After I went back to the nothrills recovery (older version), I was able to flash without any issue.
Just a heads up for anyone trying the same.
It was my first time to use Flashify, and wow, that was easy.
Came from NoThrill's 6.0.1.x CWM Recovery. On my stock rooted JB rom (on JB Bootloader too).
Thanks @Shreps!

You have an old update.zip on your sdcard, the recovery try to flash it.
Flashing a recovery is done via Fastboot/Bootloader, not ADB.
Did you read carefully FP ? Did you flash the correct version ?
CWM with LVM is compatible only with ROM with LVM.
yes i dit that as always adb devices for correct usb link and flash after that with fastboot
but now the recovery is on eternal loop and search update.zip i dont have any on sd card
it doesnt show the normal menu as 6.0.4.7 directy tryin' his crappy update.zip
before that tablet always on adb devices connected but now she is offline or unauthorized

Instructions for unlocking bootloader can be found here
Thank you @20tibby_gt06 for these instructions
TWRP Installation
1 - Download TWRP
2 - Reboot into boootloader mode
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
3 - Check to see if fastboot mode is working
Code:
adb fastboot devices
4 - Change working directory in terminal to your Downloads folder (or whatever folder TWRP is located)
Code:
cd Downloads
5 - Then type:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Replace "recovery.img" with the name of your file (I always change mine to recovery.img for less typing in the terminal)
For reasons unknown to me, some people have reported a successful flash with this method but TWRP ends out being non-existent when rebooting to recovery. If this is the case for you try this:
1 - Follow steps 1-4 above
2 - Enter this command instead for step 5:
Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img
This will temporarily boot TWRP onto your device allowing you to flash the needed files to boot LineageOS

I use it as internal so I don't want to have to go through setting it all up again!

Also another random question. I find the WiFi in the other lineage rom to be slow.
This to me isn't a deal breaker as the performance difference overall is so much better but it would be interesting to know other people thoughts and if you think it is quicker in this new ROM.
For example I tried remote play and it's a laggy mess and downloading from the play store seems to take much longer than all my other devices.

I will work on a tutorial this evening for everyone for unlocking bootloader and installing twrp. It will be in post 2
One thing for now for you to try is instead of doing fastboot flash recovery recovery.img try fastboot boot recovery.img. that will temporarily boot it allowing you to flash the ROM, Gapps and root if you choose.

Ok encrypted sd caused me no end of issues so did a full wipe.
First bug I have got is in the camera. Keeps asking for sd to be inserted even though storage permission enabled.

Something is wrong. Magisk won't write to sd.
Log collector can't get access to collect the log.
Not sure what's going on!!
EDIT: Sorted it. It was because I had used external sd as internal. For some reason even after a full wipe it was looking for it. I had to tell it to forget it and now all is well.

I managed to install your ROM using the temp twrp install method! Enabled root within rom settings! Installed flashify and gave it root permission then I was able to flash twrp.img permanently via flashify! Rom is lightning fast compared to the stock ROM! WiFi not as fast but I can live with that! Screencast doesn't find my Philips TV but other casting apps find it fine! Excellent ROM! Congratulations to the developer

HOLD VOLUME DOWN + POWER until you see the LG logo and then temporarily release the POWER button, immediately pressing and holding it back down until you see the white prompt [factory reset] screen. You will NEVER release the volume down button in this process!
Use the hard keys to select "YES" and then "YES" again to boot into TWRP
Notice: After the TWRP splash screen you will see the option to type in the password to decrypt the filesystem just ignore it and press the cancel button.

How to Disable encryption and flash super su [Root Your Device]:
1. In TWRP, go to Wipe > Format Data. Enter the keyword ‘yes‘, in the provided space and enter. This will wipe the automatically encrypted filesystem, and decrypt it.
2. Once the wiping is done, reboot back into recovery. Go to Reboot > Recovery.
3. When the recovery boots again, connect your phone to the PC and Enable MTP under the Mount section.
4. Transfer the downloaded ‘no-verity-opt-encrypt-**.zip’ and ‘SR1-SuperSU-v2.78-SR1-20160915123031.zip to your internal storage or EXTSD
5. Disconnect the device now.
6. Tap on Install. Now, navigate your phone’s storage and select ‘no-verity-opt-encrypt-**.zip’. Finally swipe the ‘Swipe to confirm Flash’ button on the bottom of the screen.
7. The flashing process will merely take a few seconds. And when it’s done, follow the same method to flash the root package – SR1-SuperSU-v2.78-SR1-20160915123031.zip [/B]
Wait 1 or 2 minutes after the zip files are done flashing then reboot system and PROFIT! Your phone may take 3-5 minutes to boot the first time and it might boot-loop once or twice at the Metro PCS splash screen but don’t worry this is expected.

You better have a backup before tying any mod as there is no available stock firmware for download it will be very difficult to fix a brick without a backup

Unofficial LineageOS 14.1 / Android 7.1.2 - Lenovo A850
This is a LineageOS 14.1 rom for our Lenovo A850. This is NOT MY WORK, I found it on this russian forum/post. All creadits to the developer. This is a pure android 7.1.2 and not a looklike rom.
Code:
#include
/*
* Your warranty is now void.
*
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
*/
Photos:
-
Bugs:
- [not tested] Camera focus may be buggy.
- There is no system space for installing Gapps. I moved webview as user app and then installed pico.
- Magisk / SuperSu installation not working
- [not tested] Xposed libraried
- Can't always get into recovery using both volume and power buttons (go through the power menu)
- When in the recovery and rebooting into system the phone closes (unplug the batery and reboot it)
- Reboot just powers down the device
- [not tested] Grenify causes bootloops
- You can fix the IMEI with Tool Hero (the update of MobileUncle), after that uninstall it.
- I face mobile data problems (data work whenever they want)...
Instructions:
0. MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP! This ROM doesn't do well with you NVRAM... You will probably need to restore your IMEI, your Serial Number would be lost, your Mac Address etc. So... backup.
1. Make sure you are on ROW format. You can check this from your "Baseband version", it should contain/say ROW or CN. You can flash this ROM first to move to a ROW format (taken from this tutorial). You can always replace the "recovery.img" file with this recovery.img that i have cooked (English version). Can also be flashed over "[MM 6.0.1] Unofficial Cyanogenmod 13".
2. Download this file (LineageOS 14.1 rom), put it in your SD (source).
3. Boot into your TWRP recovery, wipe Dalvik / ART Cache / System / Cache / Data, and flash the zip from you SD. Installation takes a lot of time.
5. Boot phone and BOOM, Android 7.1.2!!!! (boot takes a little too)
6. To enable root access or reboot to recovery, open Settings->About->Tap "Build number" many times to unlock Developer Options->go back->Developer Options->Check "Advance reboot" and change "Root access"
IMEI Problems/Fixes:
You can fix the IMEI with:
- With MobileUncle (follow these steps)
- Tool Hero (the update of MobileUncle), after that uninstall it.
- Else... if you don't know that you can run IMEI&SN Writer V1.5.3, flash this ROM and try to run it (setup drivers etc). Then FORMAT the phone (with flashtool click format, auto), and flash (click download this time) this ROM(the same with the first link), and then change the IMEI etc with IMEI&SN Writer V1.5.3.

It worked fine and very smooth for one day until i started using Link2SD (since phone's space is way too small). After some failed linked apps (after changing a SDcard) i started having problems and many apps crashed (not the linked ones!). I am going to reinstall the rom and clean everything and i will report back.
But the first day was really really good. I was able to play StarWars Heroes, which i was not able to play with the CM 13 rom (was too laggy).

It might also be a problem with link2sd itself, I was using it without problem on this phone with cyanogenmod (android 6) and in one of the last updates it blocks the phone.
A quick solution when the phone is not booting (my case) rather that fully reinstall, is go into recovery, terminal, cd /data/apps/ and delete link2sd .apk. By doing that the phone booted normally, so I would blame a little link2sd. There have been some updates (of link2sd) afterwards, but haven't tried them.

Just a hint if system space is so limited: opengapps has the possibility to uninstall/replace system apps by custom script.
Check: https://github.com/opengapps/opengapps/wiki/Advanced-Features-and-Options
You can, for example, remove eleven, gallery, screen recorder... and then maybe there is space for a pico flashing

Yes probably. Anyway the biggest problems with this roms is that the IMEI is lost. Now I can't restore it. I have driver problems connecting it to the PC and not the time to fix it.
Google Drive Link doesn't work... d'oh
Unfortunately, the google drive link no longer works. Does anybody have a direct link to the file?
Moreover, apparently there are several variants of A5500-F. There is not only CN and ROW, but also MT6582 and MT6735.
I have MT6582 ROW. Would the file match?
If not, does anybody have an idea where to get a recent Android for the A5500-F ROW MT6582 that can be downloaded without too many hoops to jump through? Why can't people post straight links?
Thanks,
Alain

Sir, this thread is for Lenovo A850 (plain). It will not work on A5500 or anything other than A850.
Are A8-50 and A5500-F the same or not?

Problem is, some posts (even on this site) say A8-50 and A5500-F are the same thing. Heck, even Amazon's bill from back when I bought it calls it an A8-50. A list of all A8-50 variants and how to tell them apart would be helpful.

No you cannot.
Hi,
No matter how hard I try I cannot get past the MI logo.
I tried several twrp img (not every, and on most recent ones I get a treble zip compatibility error btw, seems normal tho)
I wonder if I missing something obvious...
Finally the possibility of Linux on this phone I waited for this day so long thank you so much for your work. Sadly Im unable to boot. On what TWRP Version are you? The current one wouldnt work with any Miui Android 9 version i tried. Tried flashing via TWRP / ADB both end in stuck Mi Logo.

Did you download and flash Halium-boot_no_console_patch as mentioned in op, this is very important to get out of bootloop.
Yes I flashed Halium-boot_no_console_patch each time I tried to boot, but it wasn't even booting, only MI logo...
I use the recovery package to reflash android 9, it may have caused the issue... Gonna wait a few more hours to download the fastboot package ! And while waiting I'll try just with this TWRP version if it works !

Yes pls do that, and let me know.. i did it a few time, always working from my side. I think u might need to fastboot flash CN9.2.15 like me.
@luigi024, @xN&5NP hi both, I just tried to simulate my steps and realized that I failed to mentioned one important step, you need to flash LineageOS 16 on top of CN9.5.12. I have updated the op, if you cannot download LineageOS please pm me.
