No pin access after reboot. - Mate 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can some one please help me in this problem I now have with my mate 8, which started after I selected ultra power saving mode followed by rogue power saving mode where it changes the resolution to 720p, so what it does now is it boots into the home screen and when It does the pin selection does not show at all giving me no option to get into my phone at all even when trying to use my finger print, because it always instructs you to type in the pin after a fresh boot.
I have already tried to re-flash the rom which is the twisted m8 (B352) version with wiping the delvik and cache but not the data because I really can not lose my video and voice recordings. I have also tried the previous (321) and stock roms but its all the same result.

Had the same after I've changed the resolution of the phone.
I'm on KangVIP. Had to make a full wipe.

What at terrible software flaw in adding a option to save battery power only to mess up the whole phone. Did you try everything before you did a complete wipe?

I just found out that by doing the normal wipe that does not include internal storage sorted the problem out, my media was saved but the apps were gone and that's no problem because my main concern was my personal media.

Sprint Hero Time for data wipe?

I have had a problem occur a couple of times today that has never happened before. I have an extended battery installed(3500mAh). After 2 hours of not using the phone this morning after I pulled it from the charger I noticed the battery was down to 86% when it should have been still at 95% or higher. About an hour after that I went to make a call and the phone would not unlock. In fact it would not respond to any gesture or button push. I had to pull the battery to get it to boot up again. That freezing up has happened twice today. Once with the extended battery and once with the stock battery. Should I wipe the data and start all over again? Or is there another solution?
Have you installed any new programs recently?
No nothing for a couple of weeks now.
Still having a lot of freezes. Should I go to the security settings and tell it to do a factory reset and then start over again with rooting and customizing?
just out of curiosity did you reinstall the location services?
No. The only things I added back in after the last flash were the ringtone trimmer, sound recorder, and the sprint tv.
one thing that I noticed when I had my phone hooked up to ddms looking at the debug log I had a RSS reader app that was add supported and every 30 seconds it would search for and dowload a new add. once I got rid of that app it seemed to help.
another thing that really helped was I downloaded an app called "overclock" it let me set my CPU to 528 when the screen was active really helping with the speed and how fluid the scroll in menu's is, but it also lets you set it to like 128 when the screen is off. seems to really help with battery life as well.
What is throwing me for a loop is that the phone sleeps like it is supposed and I have verified this with spare parts show I am not sure why all of a sudden the battery is draining much faster than before. As far as the lockups, they are just temporary freezes, it locks and I have to remove the battery to get it to reboot.
Well I wiped the data then flashed to the newest sprint rom(1.56) and then rooted again. I then wiped data again and then flashed to fresh 1.1 and installed my apps and setup my home screens. So far no problems and it seems to run a lot faster and smoother.
Quick off-topic question:
When you say "wipe your data" does that mean you rm the /data directory? Or what? Just curious
No. I used Wipe in the recovery screen.
i just did a upgrade on my hero too from fresh 1.0 to 1.1
when you select wipe data from recovery mode, besides wiping data with option 1, do you choose option 2 as well ? wipe dev something. i wasnt sure what the 2nd wipe option is for, so i did the first option only and it only took 2 sec to complete that step. my phone is up and running with fresh 1.1 without any issues, so did i do it rite ? just outta curiosity
The second one is the cache. I think it gets rebuilt anyway on the first boot with fresh installed.

[SOLVED] LGO3D randomly shuts off.

My newly bought shiny LGO3D phone has a habbit of randomly shutting itself down no matter what ROM / Firmware i have on it.
I've tried stock, king ROM, and a few others. all randomly shutdown. i wouldnt mind if it had rebooted by itself at least it would come back on but it just goes off!
i reach into my pocket -- lo and behold the phone is off!
I've read lots of Optimus2x threads about a similar issue ... some blame the android system and some blame the hardware.
i wonder why there isnt a log in the android system describing an error or whatever?
can anyone help?
maybe your battery is a bit loose?
go stick some strips of paper at the bottom edge of the battery to make sure its nudged tight.
not sure, maybe a possible solution
i think i may have solved this issue...
what i did was this:
install CWM and reboot into the CWM menu.
i deleted everything. cache, delve cache, battery stats, everything thats deletable i did it.
i am currently using king_rom (which was doing the same problem for me to start with) and i can say the phone has been running ok for about 2 days now.
keeping fingers crossed.
usually cache + dalvic + battery states are deleted on every rom flash
if it appears again pull out your sdcard
fixed all reboot issues for me... wonderful to have a phone able to play 3d + record 3d/1080p and cant use a sdcard
hoping the 2.3 update will fix it

[Q] Factory reset to some apps at fix permissions... Is possible?

Hi developers!
My phone since always, has (or had?) a little issue: the phone shuts down at taking a photo with flash.
(issue since having stock ROM until nowadays (vipers ROM)).
So, I tried the famous "Safe mode" (push volume down at startup)... all normal, the phone doesn't shuts down at taking a photo with flash.
Then I fixed permissions (through CWM recovery) (a trick that I've seen on the web, that improves performance)
Now my phone starts fastly (than before), but some apps performed an own "factory reset"
ergo, I open facebook and it opens like a fresh install!
Apps like: facebook, swiftkey, outlook and others that I don't remember.
My question is: ¿is normal that some apps perform an own factory reset at applying "fix permissions" and/or entering to safe mode?

I wouldn't advise 'Fix Permissions' if you've not done a clean install. The data directory has specific permissions.
A good example is a sense based ROM. If you run fix permissions on a sense ROM, you won't see contact images anymore.
You'll have to repair the permissions in /data, live with setting up the applications again or do a factory reset to avoid possible issues.

Stuck on Console Mode

I am stuck in console mode!
Is there a hackable way to turn off console mode?
Like an adb call or a config file I could change or something like this?
On Shield Tablet FW v. 4.0.1 (MM) I went into console mode, but the System UI crashes constantly right from the start for whatever reason. Therefore I can't tab anything on the screen except for the crash dialog.
The dialog to disable console mode shows up, but I can't interact with it.
Several reboots did not help. I just can't leave this mode and am stuck with no interaction possible.
On earlier versions the tablet returned to normal mode automatically after reboot, but not this time. I am rooted and unlocked with TWRP. So I am still able to work in the file system or adb/fastboot.
So does anyone know what I have to configure manually to turn console mode off?
You could try clearing the cache on the device
Thanks for the contribution.
I already tried that, though.
I even reflashed the system image without wiping the data and nothing changed.
So it must be somewhere on the data partition or even sdcard.
I am stuck in this now, stock 4.2 rooted. I see a few posts on this but nobody ever bothers to post their resolution.
Is wiping data the only fix?
edit-
So for me, I wiped data and all was well. what a pain in the ass. So I need to make a backup every time I want to try and use console mode?
mirror mode has worked fine, just wanted to try with screen off.
Yeah, unfortunately I ended up wiping data as well. I tried even to just install the system without wiping first, but did not help.
So I took this opportunity and updated to the latest version as well.

I have had the same problem and could not fix it so now I use an app called second screen instead of console mode. Not only can you eliminate black bars on side of screen, but you can manually change resolution as well as turn off the backlight while connected to a display. Just look up the app on play store. BTW, you will still have to clear data first.

Data recovery/Phone recovery on bootlooping pixel?

My phone died last Wednesday and has continuously proceeded to boot loop ever since. Not sure if this is due to mother board issues, a recent update, lack of space on device, or malfunctioning apps?
I don't think its a motherboard issue though. I was pretty much at capacity 29gb usable of 32gb. I recently downloaded instagram and every time I used it the the system UI send a warning message and proceeded to crash every time, but the phone never boot-looped? I had recently updated to 8.1.0 and after looking at the android loading screen over 1000x now, I can tell that the animation is a little different from before.
The bootloop that I am experiencing isn't a load then restart loop it's just an endless load. With the the google 'G' and an endless loading bar beneath swaying side to side for hours on end.
Unfortunately I haven't backed up my phone in more than 5 months. I was wondering if there was anything I can do to get my data back (i.e. media, numbers, texts etc.) or potentially get my phone working again with the data intact?
I can boot into recovery mode perfectly. In the past google had a "clear system cache feature" on V7.1 I think? but that was phased out with more recent updates leaving me with the option of only factory resetting the phone. My phone is not rooted. I was wondering if there was anything I could do in the recovery screen that could mimic the clear system cache feature? Like writing some sort of command line or something? Or anything else that I could do to get my data back and my phone working again?
What are my options?

I think you can clear cache in fastboot. Not sure why you would continue to use an app that is crashing system.

That feature was taken out of the boot-loader by google in the past few updates. I'm currently on 8.1.0.
I was wondering if there was an alternative method that I could take in fast boot/recovery mode that could possibly give me the same cache clearing result? Possibly some sort of adb method or something? Also unfortunately my boot loader is locked. So If I can't clear the cache, I was wondering what my current options are as far as backing up the device before I inevitably have to do a factory reset are?
