So I've ran into an issue with my Huawei Mate 8 and Google Fit. It keeps telling me to enable location but I already have my Location Access enabled and High Accuracy selected.
Has anyone else run into this issue or does anyone have any possible advice to point me in a direction to solving this issue. If anyone needs any more info or screen shots just let me know and I'll gladly post them. I would just like to solve this odd issue I'm having! Thanks.
Have you tried clearing the cache/data for the Fit app? You might just want to make sure you sync your Fit data to your Google account first so you don't lose anything
Yup I've tried that a few times now with no change unfortunately =(

I feel the same, has to be something the complex system battery saving Huawei
Hopefully it's something that can be figured out and solved. I've been trying everything possible to get some type of change and I'm not about to give up so if I ever find anything that helps I'll be sure to post!

After searching the internet and xda i can't seem to find anyone else with my problem. When i try to sign in with google+ on my galaxy note 2 i just get a white screen then after a short wait i get an unknown error. I've tried multiple roms but i always get the same white screen. Has anyone else had this problem and better yet found a solution? i want to be able to kick the crap out of my brother in a race in the game but i can't until i can log in with G+.
I have the same problem with same phone.
A Wipe Data fixed the problem temporarily. But right now I still can't access any other game. And the worst is that I find no information about this problem
same issue here too on my Droid DNA. i get the same white screen on every game i try to use G+ with.
i was able to get around it on stickman golf by logging on my nexus 7, then trying to login on my dna (the white screen never showed up after i did it once with the nexus 7).
this is really frustrating
At least i'm not the only one with this problem. It seems odd to me that i couldn't find a single post or page documenting this problem. Hopefully we can find a solution soon. I really want to try the race feature since i've completed almost everything else in the game.
I think I found a solution but it's a pain in the butt. I'm still not sure what is causing it but it's something in the custom roms I've been using. I flashed a stock rooted rom then signed in to G+ through ssg2 and did a titanium backup. After that I reflashed to my custom Rom and restored my backup and I was already signed in with no issues. If you really need to sign in to get full function of an app it works but it is a pain. Just thought I'd share.

I'm having that error too, i was able to get around it by messing around with the settings in google settings for that app but none of my friends show up. If i download a new game, it'll have same unknown error issue until i mess with the settings again.

Does anybody else have a problem with the screen timeout settings? It seems to remain the same 10-15 seconds no matter what I put it on. Even if I set it to 10 minutes
Good for your battery life! ?
Are you talking about the lock screen or the normal display after you unlock it. There is no way to change the timeout of the lock screen.
I get that too. It times out no matter what time I set it!
This is driving me crazy!!

Might have something to do with face recognition. (Smart Stay) try messing with those settings too. I receive mine today so ill look into it too.
I'm having the same issue. Spent all night messing with every setting to no avail. Incredibly frustrating.
think its about smart stay, or did you use any battery saver that comes with the phone?
Does the same thing with smart stay on or off (unless you're staring right at the screen in good lighting), no battery saving modes used. On the phone with Samsung right now

Please let me know? I would like to find out what Samsung says!
They used smart tutor to access my phone and looked at all the settings. Said they would call me back when they have a solution. Didn't ever verbally confirm it as an issue, not holding out much hope

just for your info, I did spoke to Samsung as well and I reset the phone as they told me to. They are thinking there is something contradiction between your old backup data and current. It actaully fixed the issue but now I found a dead pixel.... shoot. Now I will have to go to T-mobile for the replacement phone. Hope they accept it.
So did they just have you do a factory reset? Sorry to hear about the dead pixel what a bummer. Anything you could tell me about what they had you do would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
I'm glad its not just me, I'm going to factory reset to see what happens. I've been using a Stay Alive app in the meantime
Installed the T-Mobile software update, made no difference. So far the only thing that seems to work for me is a factory reset and to set it up as a new device; restoring any devices through Google seems to result in the same issue. Restoring data from devices linked to Samsung account (which I have to if I log into Samsung account while setting up for some reason) doesn't seem to matter one way or the other.
Mine is working for now going to start installing my apps and hope it continues to do so

Hi, Thanks for the info. So which one did have an impact? Google backup or Samsung Cloud? I only restored phone number and picture from google and didn't even try Samsung cloud.

Samsung cloud seems to have no effect. Restoring app data (can add Google accounts etc. just do not restore data from any other devices when prompted) from any devices linked to my Google account causes the issue eveytime. Set up as a new device and manually selected apps to install from my list of apps in play store and all is well.
Hope this helps

Thanks a lot! it helps! I am getting a warranty exchange for the dead pixel. You cannot get this exchange from Samsung directly but from the service provider.

Thank you so much, so much help. It worked
I find even playing games my phone goes onto lock mode if I'm not touching screen.
Annoying.
Hello everyone.
I decided to post this question here instead of my specific device's forum because I believe it is an issue of android itself, not my phone.
Since a couple of days ago, there is an annoying popup that appears on every boot, right after I unlock for the first time. The message reads:
No location access
Device location for all apps is
turned off, and you might not be
able to locate your device if it's
lost.
Yes, I'm aware of that, since I keep my location off for privacy and battery concerns, and that popup annoys me because it's an extra step for me to take. I suspect it's generated by Google Play Services, but I can't be sure.
Has anyone else seen it? Any ideas to disable it?

I have. And you're right. Its generated by Google Play Services. I got rid of it by disabling a bunch of Google Play Service's services

Thank you very much for your confirmation.
Do you remember by any chance which services did you disable to get rid of the popup? I'm betting doing that will screw up google maps and possibly some other gapps, but I'm willing to do it because that popup is sooo annoying.
Thanks.

Disabling them will cripple the device's location services. Though you'll probably still be able to get your location info by using the GPS only.
Here are the services I disabled
com.google.android.gms/com.google.android.gms.locationsharing.service.LocationSharingSettingInjectorService
com.google.android.gms/com.google.android.gms.nearby.connection.service.NearbyConnectionsAsyncService
com.google.android.gms/com.google.android.gms.clearcut.service.ClearcutLoggerService
com.google.android.gms/com.google.android.gms.clearcut.service.PlayLogBrokerService
com.google.android.gms/com.google.android.gms.common.stats.GmsCoreStatsService
com.google.android.gms/com.google.android.location.fused.FusedLocationService
com.google.android.gms/com.google.android.location.internal.PendingIntentCallbackService
com.google.android.gms/com.google.android.location.geocode.GeocodeService
com.google.android.gms/com.google.android.location.network.NetworkLocationService
com.google.android.gms/com.google.android.location.internal.GoogleLocationManagerService
com.google.android.gms/com.google.android.location.geofencer.service.GeofenceProviderService
com.google.android.gms/com.google.android.location.internal.server.GoogleLocationService
com.google.android.gms/com.google.android.location.reporting.service.LocationHistoryInjectorService
com.google.android.gms/com.google.android.location.reporting.service.DispatchingService
com.google.android.gms/com.google.android.gms.mdm.services.NetworkQualityAndroidService
Finding them all might be a bit tedious so here's a backup you can restore using DisableService from the Playstore
Woah, that's mighty cool of you. Thanks! I appreciate it.

Did you go about disabling them manually? Or by using the DisableService backup?

Using backup. I double-checked and they are disabled
On my Note 4 I noticed an auto update a few days ago which I couldn't stop.
Today, my Skype auto logged out and when I tried to log in I couldn't. I entered my password 4 times and I couldn't log in. I tried login into my PC and it was fine so it wasn't a problem with my password.
So I restarted my note 4 and got this "No location access" pop-up. However I was able to login to Skype.
Are these two things connected? It seems weird. And the pop-up is blatantly scaremongering saying if location is disabled the phone cannot be tracked if it's lost.. yeah Google, on yer bike.

Okay. Try restoring this backup instead. I'm 100% sure it'll work because thats my current config and I'm pop up free. It seems to have broken the smart lock feature though. But if you don't mind/use that then you should be fine.

I really don't know. Maybe it was just a minor glitch/bug in the app. It does seem weird though. But if you're interested in getting rid of the pop up then check the post above.
I just disabled preference service. And the popup is gone.

Running the following on boot works for me too. Any idea what else it disables?
Code:
pm disable com.google.android.gms/com.google.android.location.util.PreferenceService;
Thankful to the person who posted it on Reddit (But no good responses yet). Hopefully through this platform we can get some help.
So I don't know if this is bothering anyone else, but the app drawer search takes forever to load and for the keyboard to show up - by that I mean 5 seconds or so, but it's still crazy when the nova search is instant. Is anyone else having the same problem?
PS: Even with the new TouchWiz update, issue still exists.
Please Help.

Hi I also have the T-Mobile variant no root absolutely stock but yes I did restored my pictures from last iOS(iPhone 6s) do you think that might be an issue.
Should I restore the device again to factory settings?

Not sure just pictures would cause this but you might try a factory data reset. I'd wait a bit and see if you get anymore suggestions first.
Hello everyone. I'm having a new issue with my Android phone, I keep getting a pop up stating no_permission_read_phone_state. What is causing this? It just started very early yesterday and continues about every time I touch my phone...have I been hacked or what, does anybody know the why or how about this pop up and possibly a quick way of stopping it? I appreciate any help, I do Alot on my phone and don't need any hacker gaining access to my phone...this started while I was discussing the buying of a vehicle which I found out before I lost any money was a scammer trying to rob me, that's why I'm concerned with this pop up. I don't know if it's related but it sure is coincidental at best.....

It seems that some app installed on your device was requesting the permission of READ_PHONE_STATE. Go through all apps installed on your device.

Putting it in safe mode is a quick way to test that.
Android Services maybe the what's putting up the notification.
Find the app and either grant needed permissions, block its notifications, or uninstall it.
