SP01 rom, what is that? - Mate 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

There are 2 versions of the stock B3xx roms, the normal, and the SP01.
(Like now both B356 and B356SP01 is available, but is was the same for earlier versions also)
Can you help me what is the difference?
Thx

service pack. basically same rom, just with a few bugfixes
Sent from my Huawei Mate 8 NXT-AL10

They were released the same time (and the previous version also). Why would they release the same time a normal version, and a "bugfixed" one?

im guessing service packs take care of very minor but necessary bugs that dont involve a completely new firmware version.

There were SP01 build from the last few B3xx versions also, and they were out the same time, as the non-SP01 build. So it is strange.

In desperate need of a European or International Rom.

Hi all. After days of searching and reading all posts I still didn't find what I need.
I own a NTX-AL10 Chinese phone and like to make it European or International.
So I need the proper image files to flash with adb fastboot or a complete zip to flash with TWRP. An European or International recovery will also be very helpful. For now it shows as a Next model with NTX-C900B170. So maybe the international NXT-AL10 recovery will do? Please, any help would be very appreciated because I am in fact a newbie.
as far as i can see ure already on the international B170 firmware so....what else do u need?
if ure planning to make your AL10 completely into an L29 model including automatic ota updates etc u can forget about that for the time being. there are some efforts going on to reprogram specific models into different ones, but none of them successful thus far. so for now ure stuck with manually crossflashing firmwares

On this rom the phone freeze now and than. But it's the only I'm able to find. So I need a (Preferred NTX-AL10) C432 or C900 rom with proper recovery. It's already rooted and with twrp. I wouldn't mind to go to a stock rom as long as is it one of the above mentioned and I can use ota updates.

I am satisfied with staying AL10 but now it's reporting as "model NEXT Build NXT-C900B170" ,also in HISUITE and the phone freeses every now and then.
What can I do?
Please educate me.
hm thats strange. the most current AL10 firmware is B168 with an OTA update available for B172. u can also try and install any one of the four custom roms available in the dev section

I just flashed this B168 rom of the same developer and I think that did the trick.
It seems it solved my problems.
Thanks for all your help.

Still on 5.1?

Hi guys, im new to Huawei coming from note 4. Like it so much better then Samsung!
I'm still on 5.1 emui 3.1 I see some of you already rocking 6.0. How can I get that and is it a stock rom? Im from Europe btw
Hi, I had the same version as yours in Europe. Through the HiCare app from Huawei, the system was able to check that there was a new version. It prepared the phone and I finished the update using the complete file available from the website (and here as well).

The hicare got an update indeed... But will I get a ota update or do I have to do it manual?
Is 6.0 good?
B560 MM is nice
You must have stock recovery. IMO, best to use a full ROM. The OTA probably is a full ROM though.
I'm having battery issues with b560. It lasts almost as half as on 5.1
I think im going to wait until I get the ota update
In B560 you lost the chance to hidden the navigation button, battery (for someone) is worst than LL.

L29 C636 B180 to B193...would you do it again or any regrets?

I only just now got offered that update by the system updater.... the changelog doesn't sound too interesting to me.
And I'm happy with battery life and everything right now, but sure I also don't want to reflash if something is not satisfactory.
The Google Security Fixes would be alright...and I understand that flashing manually to B320/B321 could result in worse battery.
So, therefore, just between B180 & B193.... For the ones who tried: any regrets? Anything much better or worse? Thanks!!
My Mate 8: 4/64 GB, NXT-L29C185B320, EMUI 4.1, no root.
I wouldn´t buy Mate 8 again cause of
- missing automated firmware updates,
- no configurable status bar (e.g. no weekday+date),
- notifications somtimes too late,
- no way to use the full 6" screen.
I'm generally happy with my Mate 8 and those issues don't bother me... Just wondering if I should update or not...
Sent from my HUAWEI NXT-L29 using Tapatalk
are u rooted and got twrp installed? if so, u could just make a backup of B180 and return to it if not satisfied with B193...
otherwise, if not, just stick to B180, its got good stability, battery life and performance
Sent from my Huawei Mate 8 NXT-AL10
I'm not rooted this time.....So did you try out B193? And you would say it doesn't bring anything better to the table than B180?
All are.similar firmware.
185 has some Arabic language issues which was corrected in 193 and 320.
320 is EMUI 4.1 while older ones are based on 4.0 version
Thanks!
Any reply here

In other threads about the exact same "new" 140 updates, it's told that it is emui 4 with google security updates.
I I got it well, there is nothing to upload for firmware finder, as it searches on Huawei servers. Correct me if I'm wrong
Someone say that this version is marshmallow on another thread but it's not. Make firmware takes Time ! And Time is money ! They can't do 3 or 4 updates for 3 peoples in the World ! So for me it's test build for new updates (Oreo or nougat)
Since septembre, we can view 4 builds (B350,B351,B135,B140) ! B135 is a sp03 like the B392 sp01 was a test build for new 5.0.1 EMUI version !

Imho you're wrong when you think only few people still use MM on their honor 8.
Latest MM was 131, N is 3xx, and this is 140...
(edit) Look at firmware sizes, 131/140, all nougat roms..
When you have sources, upstreaming to google updated source might not be that hard.
Anyway, I can't tell more as I did not rollback to MM just to try this.

Which rom has the latest security patch? Can I install it?

Hi all,
I have an MHA-L29 and it is currently running 8.0.0.360(C567). The security update is dated January 2018.
My company requires that my phone not have a security patch more than 90 days old. Is there a ROM compatible with MHA-L29 that has a newer security patch? What is the newest security patch available in any MHA-L29 ROM from Huawei, does anyone know?
And how likely am I to be able to install it? This is a retail US model phone, so far as I know.

It's better to buy other phone
Your requirement is too hard to satisfy.
You have US region and latest version is 8.0.0.360.
Even if Huawei will post new ROM need 2-3 weeks more to test and approve.
Additionally Mate 9 released at November 2016. 15 months ago. No guarantee that 8.0.0.360 is not last...
Ok. There are other regions with newer security patch, like C636. But you have to rebrand your device (unlock bootloader, install custom recovery, install patched recovery) - so beat your security. Sure, it is temporary, but in advance you have to rebrand back if region C636 will not post next ROM in 90 days...
As I know, region C00 (China) has latest security patch and regularly updates. Rebrand to C00 if you are not confusing by hieroglyphs and specific memory manager (it is very aggressive to background apps)
P.s. to rebrand when using Oreo you have to rollback on Nougat's ROM, then rebrand using oeminfo in HwOta, then upgrade to Oreo.
This way cause oeminfos from Oreo are different with Nougat's files.
Gotcha. Thanks!
I was afraid of that. I'm OK with Android and Linux in general, but I don't want to do a lot of hard, risky work over and over again just to keep my phone running. Company is recommending Google Pixel 2 or iPhone. Not exciting, but I'm getting too old and lazy to hack my Android devices once a month.
Thanks for your help!
