GPS stipped working in Canada - Mate 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys I have been using Waze to drive around the city but yesterday I can't use Waze or Google maps. I did not update the phone it just stopped working. Any suggestions? My location accuracy is on high and my battery is on performance.

GPS doesn't work in Google Maps - but is okay in Navigation

I've got a problem. When I open Google Maps it doesn't seem to activate my GPS so my location is decided by the operator-network and/or wifi, and is not very precise. I've tried to keep Google Maps open for a long time but my location is never that precise as when the GPS is activated. Also if I log into Android Device Manager on the web, I only get a location with an accuracy of 1.5-2 kilometres so that's neither located by GPS.
But if I then enter a route in Google Maps and use the Navigation, the GPS is turned on and everything is fine. It's the same if I use Sygic GPS Navigation. I've got Avast Anti-Theft installed on my phone and if I log into avast.com and send a location command to my phone, it's also located by GPS with an accuracy of 5 metres.
I've installed 'GPS Status & Toolbox' and set the app to show an icon in my navigation bar when the GPS is used. And it's the same as described above - when Google Maps is open there's no icon but when I use Navigation the icon it's there.
I'm pretty sure that on my last phone (Samsung Galaxy S II) with Android 4.4.2 Google Maps also used the GPS and I've got a precise location every time, so my question is how to get it in the same way on my new phone (Sony Xperia Z1) with Android 4.4.4? There are many times I just want to see on Google Maps exactly where I am without using the Navigation directions to a specific location.

Have either of you guys tried clearing app data and see if that works? Every once in a while I get that to resolve my issues.

i don't know about the gps not turning on at all, but it is a somewhat known bug on googles end when wifi is used to help location services, it frequently causes accuracy issues.
try turning off your wifi and see how it acts.
Yeah, off wifi it's more accurate. But yes, rooter, just cleared my app data and that did the trick, thanks.

GPS Not Working

Hi,
I think I have a problem with GPS on my Oneplus One, it's so hard to lock to my location.
I use Google Maps for navigation (High Accuracy GPS), and it's always showing wrong location, sometimes even far off from my location. And if I look into the status bar, it's always showing "Searching for GPS". I thought it's a problem with Maps so I downloaded Here and Waze, but still the same story, Here and Waze always show wrong location, and Waze also says my GPS is off.
But it's also worth to mention that if I am home, all apps above showing right location. And also I just downloaded GPS Status and test it in my home, it stuck on "Looking for GPS location" message when I'm indoor, but it works when I'm outdoor. Obviously I haven't been outside since I downloaded GPS Status so I'll updated this thread later.

You need to be outside for GPS to work, there's no point testing inside because it'll never work.

Thanks for the info
But it supposed to work inside a moving car right? I tested and compared my OPO with my old Galaxy Tab 2 10" yesterday when I'm going outside. I ran GPS Status & Toolbox on both devices and it's seems like my Galaxy Tab locks position faster and more stable, although showed less total satellites than OPO.

Yes OPO gps detection is not so faster
If u have disabled Google play location services and maps app activate them in privacy guard
Go to settings >location > set DEVICE ONLY mode
Keep your Internet on
Place your mobile on flat surface then click on location button
Wait for 1-2min
It will detect

GPS fix

For several weeks now, the compass was broken, but I could live with the view from top at the maps. Now it won't even find my GPS. Also, when I activate to check in to a location to Instagram, it shows a different location than where I am, and I have to use the search. How can I fix it? I live in Greece.

I am facing issues with GPS as well. I am facing issues with Google navigation. GPS doesn't fix. It takes too much time. I used GPS fix app which fixes GPS in 1-2 min. Still Google map takes 15-20 mins to figure out where I am on the map and start navigation correctly. Is it a ROM problem? Currently i am using resurrection remix. When I was using Blisspop, navigation was slower than the car speed. Means few mins after I take a turn, Google map would instruct me to take a turn. Any idea what could be the problem? I recently did a clean flash. But that didn't fix the issue.
Missed one more point, after 15-20 mins GPS locks and Google navigation starts working. But frequently it would announce GPS signal lost. To test, I kept running my nexus 4 in parallel. Nexus 4 locks GPS instantly and on the same route never losses GPS signal.

Any one?

Try GPS Status to calibrate the compass and Faster GPS to set your continent and region.

Google maps "Searching for GPS"

My Google maps is able to locate me via GPS and plan a route but when I begin my drive, it says "searching for GPS". How do I fix this? I've recently been playing around GPS spoofs for Pokemon go, but I've switched over to high accuracy. Solutions?
It's the samething for me with Coplilot or Waze....
Somebody can help ?
Maybe try "GPS Connected" app from Play Store. It has helped me in the past. It will keep your GPS active and LOCKED.

I saw that on a Xiaomi MI 4c too.. The only way to navigate with GPS is using HERE Maps or Maps.me
Both work really nice, especially HERE maps
Any solution found for gps issue?
Guys... What are your ROM ?
Uhm I flashed TWRP 3.0.2 bacon
Same issue for me. M using Mokee 6.0.1 Nightly on my 1+1
Hi i have exactly the same issue. When i use the App GPS Toolbox and Status, I can find 21 Satellites, but no one get fixed. I tried flashing several roms, basebands, firmwares, kernals. Nothing really seem to work Any idea?
I get the same problem, sultan cm13
Anybody find a solution for this?

Compass not working and GPS only working for Google Maps

My XZ Premium has the 47.2.A.10.107 build on it.
The Compass has stopped working and any GPS apps I use, apart from Google Maps, never find a GPS signal (GPS Status, GPS Test, Waze)
I find it odd that Google Maps will still work without issue though.
I have tried turning on and off 'Wi-Fi scanning' and 'Bluetooth Scanning' from within 'Locations Services'
Anyone have any ideas?

G8142 on 47.2.A.11.228, currently having the exact same issue.
What i have tried:
Using a different GPS.conf No good.
Unrestrict Locationservices battery usage No good
Clearing apk data and cache No good
*#*#7378423#*#* No good
Feels like a hardare issue to me.
