Encrypting External SD Card - Moto G 2015 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want to encrypt my SD card in a way that I can access it on my Linux system. The only two apps I find that can do this, get errors when they try to set up containers.
I want this container to open when I unlock the phone. SD card is a Samsung 128GB card. I can move files to it wirelessly and with file manager, but not with the encryption apps. Could this be because I'm running Marshmellow (Resurrction Remix)?

[Q] Can't access SD card

I have apps on the SD card that work, however in emulators I can't access the SD card or anywhere I have to go through the directories. Anyone have an idea how to get this working? Is it not formatted correctly?

No, everything is fine on your end.
You must be on android version 4.4.2, which block write access on the sd card, which means you can't put things on it with a file explorer or have apps write files to it(save files, random generated data, etc...)
You either have to downgrade to version 4.3 or root it and install sd card fix from here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...+play&pcampaignid=APPU_D-xVU4WjEYu0yATe3YGYBQ
You can still write your sd card using a root explorer. Apps that store data on the sdcard can only write to their respective folders is what it is. I think hes talking about how the directories are different because of how mount points are in kitkat now
Access to the SD card isn't blocked. Apps can only write to folders the app owns. Snes9x for example created a folder on the SD card. That is where you have to tell the app to save files to as it is the only folder it has write access to. I figured that out and have no problem saving files to the SD with any of my emulators.

I noticed this too on my shield. I was going to put some ISOs on my SD card for FPSE to use. When I was in FPSE's config, I was going to try and point it to the SD card but it would only allow me to work with the onboard memory. Would the SD card fix allow me to get this working? I really don't want to store ISOs on the onboard memory or just continually shuffle my active ISO to the internal memory when I want to play that game.

Yes SDFix: KitKat Writable MicroSD will allow you to move things to the SD card. (write access) Just remember you need to be rooted to use the app.

Thanks for the link. Yes, it's definitely rooted.

Are there any file managers that work with an SD card?

So I've been pretty happy with my Shield K1 but I finally bought an SD card and I'm having some trouble. I originally used the SD card as "portable storage" but it was a bit limited since I was unable to copy apps to the Micro SD. I reformatted it as internal and it's been great... except that I can't use any file managers. Cabinet tells me it needs root access in order to access the files on the SD card, and Solid Explorer keeps asking me for permission even though I granted it Storage permission.
Are there any file managers that can be used to manipulate files on the Micro SD card when it is adopted as internal storage?

Default Download Location To SD Card?

Hello, as the title insists, I would like to know if there is a way to have my downloads save directly to my SD card. I have my pictures set there but I want my Chrome downloads to automatically download to my SD.
I know you can format the SD card as internal storage in Marshmallow but that really defeats the purpose that I want it to do.
I need to be able to download straight to the SD WITHOUT ENCRYPTING MY SD CARD. So I can easily put the SD card with downloaded files to my computer.
I'm running Cyanogenmod 13 6.0.1 rooted.
Someone please help!

empty/hidden folders in "Device\storage" can't access Sd card

Hey
With the new android update for this phone i can no longer browse to the sd card via the directory of device\
usually there is a link to the external sd card in device\storage but now its all empty there and i can only access the internal storage via Device\sdcard.
If i use a file browser like Es media then u can select the external sd card directly and access it. But the problem im having is when im in simple apps like ePSXe it wont let me reach the external sd card since i have to manually browse to it but there is no shortcuts to it anywhere. There was one app that allowed the full path to be manually added which worked since the folders are hidden or something.
Its like samsung have hidden the folders link to the external card.
Is there a way to create a shortcut from the internal storage that point to "device\storage\D8C7--9661" (which is my external sd card)?

How to transfer APP's Data to SD Card

Hi, I am trying to find out how can I transfer my app's data to external SD Card so I can save some space in the phone. I saw some videos but all they do is transfer/make a copy of the apk file in the SD Card. I want the app's data/obb to be transfered to SD Card and the app to use it from there. Like in the older models of android there used to be an option Move to SD Card.
