Never installed a boot ani standalone... do you just install from zip while in recovery, or put it in a folder and apply using theme manager?
Any chance we could see a SkyRaider Athena boot ani as well? =]

Depends which type of rom youre using...i cant remember the damn folder for aosp/cm roms but sense/senseless roms is in system/customize/resource...change to VZW_bootanimation.zip. you have to use root explorer to move then restart

Figured it out. After making the previous post, I went through and found some info on it.
First I tried to just install from ZIP via Recovery, didn't work.
Then I used adb push, and on first attempt tried /data/local. This didn't work either.
Finally (and what I do every time now) I did the adb push to the following three directories:
/system/media/bootscreen (I think this one is unnecessary and mainly used for .gif)
/system/media (believe this is the one that worked for the dinc)
/data/local (just in case)
Since figuring this out, I have been playing around with creating boot animations of my own:
1st: sonic the hedgehog rolling, spinning, and then stopping at an android logo.
2nd: a "rick roll" - series of screens of "What Rick Astley will never do" LMAO
3rd: Sonic (2 screens) putting on his glove (better graphic than the 1st)
4th (and current): Guile doing a flashkick followed by Ryu doing hurricane kick.
Rick roll sounds hilarious would love to see that lol

So for aosp Roms just name it bootscreen? Or VZW_bootanimation.zip?
*It's IncREDible*
Any chance on some previews?
Ok first off these should only be named "bootanimation.zip" for the Inc. The only reason this would change is if you have some off beat ROM... but that would be weird and annoying. Next is these should be installed at /system/media for most roms however this can change from rom to rom so its best to ask your roms developer if your not sure. I should have previews as links but I'm not sure cause I am sending this from my phone so i.ll have to check later. This thread will receive an update soon. Btw if you find a good YouTube that would make a good boot ani (no sound) you can post a link to it here. If you can't post links yet put the name of the video and who it was posted by and ill review it and see about making a boot ani from it. Anything that has any inappropriate content such as drugs or sexual content will be ignored all together.
Redemption and Redemption Revolution both have theirs called VZW_bootanimation.zip and VZW_Droid.mp3. They go in the system/customize/resource folder.
Hi all, there's a simple mod enable the call-record feature on i9000:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=967297
and here is another approach:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=863074
I want to know if any of these also works on Nexus S?
FYI - I've tried the patch and although it says it backs up the Phone.apk and injects the "modded" Phone.apk - neither of these seem to occur.
I do however end up with the .rec template.
The APK app works fine.
When I dial, its as though nothing has happened to the phone.apk - no errors, no display indicating failure - nothing.
I do have SU/Root access on Android 2.3.3

So, are you saying that you have the call record feature worked, although the patch didn't inject the "modded" Phone.apk?
How did it happen? You made an recovery image by yourself and flash it?
Thank you~
Hi mate,
No, im saying that the patch SAYS it worked, but it doesn't in fact patch anything.
I suspect it will only work with that particular Samsung model due to the firmware.
Looks like you'll have to wait for someone to investigate further.
A great need for this feature!

you can easily add a font (also battery and so on) to a ROM (tested only on WB's CM6 V06, but I think it should work for other ones too) by yourself:
1. just upload the framework-res.apk (lokated in system/framework) from your rom to http://uot.dakra.lt/ (under kitchen/file upload)
2. make the changes you want to have in the tab "kitchen"
3. dl the output file
4. afterwards flash it via xrecovery.
Note:
if that doesn't work for you,
1. manually mount data and and system in partition tools
2. afterwards flash the zip.
This ist the way, i, simacid and playgunsta "made" the new battery icons and font for WB's CM6.
I suggest we put our modded files here so we can all post our creations and so everyone can choose by himself what he likes, without searching the whole threats.
Note:
When making a post, please add for which rom it is and which version of it. also post a screenshot when possible and add what you have modded.
Update: seek4 just confirmed that everything is working fine for him except the power toggle widgets in notification area, so keep going and don't hesitate to post your creations.
Update2: kevjef420 noted, that if you use Amend scripting in the tab "file upload", everything works fine without mounting system and data manually. Thanks for that.
regards
So, ill start this with my "mod":
Rom: Cyanogenmod 6.1.3 V06 by Wolfbreak (don't use on other roms)
Mod: only the Battery icon (without percent, so you can choose the color with Cyanogenmod settings)
Edit: also works on hotfix V06.1 by WB (because there are no changes in framework)
Screenshot: in attachmend
I tried to use this source 3 days ago. Uploaded my framework-res.apk from WB rom, changed only battery icons, flashed my cooked framework-res.apk using xRec, nothing changed. I don't know what I did wrong, but its seems not working for me.
But I didn't do this
1. manually mount data and and system in partition tools

then do it .
1. go to xrecovery
2. go to partition tools
3. mount system and data
4. press back button
5. flash the zip file as usual
it should work then, worked for my gf's phone also
I also didn't have anything change the first time. What you need to do is in the screen where you upload your framework on the lefthand side there is 3 options that you can select. By default it has the first and last option selected but you need to select the second and third not the first one. I don't remember what they are right now since I am not near my computer.
This worked for me. I created a nice theme I will upload it here latter when I get a chance.

ok thank you for your experiences, but it also works for me with the first option, you just have to manually mount system and data in some cases.
so the thread slowly gets used
Ok my new mod:
Rom: Cyanogenmod 6.1.3 V06 by Wolfbreak (don't use on other roms)
Mod:
1. Battery icon (without percent, so you can choose the color with Cyanogenmod settings) (this time made it to turn red when under 30 percent and other charging animation)
2. Notification background (pure black, 75% transparent)
Screenshot: in attachmend
Edit: sorry, forgott to insert the file
Edit2: also works on hotfix V06.1 by WB (because there are no changes in framework)
Thanks a lot for this topic dude!! Very usefull and nice!!
I love UOT. Super easy to use. Everyone on WB's rom should give it a try.

So are you saying that the transparency setting works with CM6 roms?
cause it says in the kitchen that it is for gingerbread roms only.
oh and this is the option that I checked that got my mod to work without having to make any other changes. (second option)
"Amend scripting. Old scripting, compatible with old recoveries. Use this if you having problem with flashing (no changes, error 0) or have not HTC Desire phone"
I have been using this kitchen for a few weeks now with no problems since I have started checking this option in the file upload tab.
thanks for sharing it with everyone.

No. What I did is under kitchen/status bar i ticked the background only, set the color to be fully black and choosen the transparency to be 75%. As you can see in my screenshot, it worked. Don't tick the option "Enable transparency in statusbar".
Thanks, i'll put it in my 1st post.
can i use this in eclair?

No. But you can upload your Eclair framework to the kitchen and mod it yourself. Make sure you have xrecovery installed to try it out.
I can't promise that it will work, because I never tried it, been on 2.2 for too long

Nope, 2.1 fw-res is too big to upload. There is a size limit on Uot. You could make one for a different Rom then dig out the icons. It's a pain but it works.

Send from my X10 CM 6.1.3 by Wolfbreak
hi,
thanks so much for this thread, it is awesome and has really helped me out!!
can someone just answer a few little things for me....
i am running wolfbreaks 6.1.3 v07, and i have tried to load a few different boot animations using the kitchen, but it never works, it just says sony erricsson?? i checked in my system/media, and there is a bootanimation.zip - do i need to specifically install it or should it automatically have done that when i installed the kitchen zip? (i had to mount system and data in xrecovery, if that means anything?)
also, is there a way similar to kitchen that i can edit the little icons that appear next to SHUT DOWN, REBOOT, AIRPLANE MODE etc? atm mine are grey, but i seen on the kitchen that they can be coloured? is the reason that they are grey due to my framework-res settings? and if so, is there a way i can change it?
thanks in advance!

edit: fugu tweaked?? well u can double check with WB
ok so im cooking up a rom and im teying to get the basics down before i have fun and start changing colors and things, but im having a bit of an issue.....
can anyone explain to me why the 1% batery mod and reboot in power menu do nothing but power cycle the phone?
ive tried many different ways of implementing them and get stuck every time, regardless of if i flash a zip or change only the code that pertains to the mod in framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk....
I have a very quick stable version of MERetail-MEARET and want to get it out there but those reboot in power menu and 1% bat mod are a must for me....
so far i have a working zip install including data folder with some apps (jrummy busybox for one):
Supercharged 8.2
Speedy7
cwm on boot (rads gps working version)
OC'd/UC'd 1200,840,500,250
all the build prop tweaks i could find...
once i get the reboot/1% thing worked out i can make her pretty and get it out there for u guys anyone wanna help?
Do you have the properly modded associated jar files - services.jar for the battery, and android.policy & framework.jar for reboot?
If you do, then maybe you crossed some files or have a typo and the id's aren't matching up...

Ive run into same issues. Im on a new international rom and although i got 1% working no problem. The reboot in power menu mod cant be just downloaded and used from another firmwares files. Youll have to manually do it yourself. Those internationals have invompatible crossovers...strange i know ..but true nontheless. For example i cant go and switch frameworks from the u.s. rom and push it to an int. rom. Doesn't like it.

Hello everybody !
I loaded Portal ROM v1.3 on my SGS2.
Notice that history tells that since v1.1, we are on PDA XXLPS, which I saw in my phone About, so it is nice.
I then tried to install JKay Deluxe Framework.
Trying the XXLPS deodexed version, it tells me that my PDA is not XXLPS (assertion failed).
Reading the thread's title, I noticed it says XXLPF. So I downloaded XXLPF version of framework, which installed smoothly.
Rebooting, viewing the "updating Android" message, get to desk, and ... nothing. No JKay icon, no JKay apk shown. Some things have been applied because I have the 6-line battery icon now.
My main track is I might be in XXLPS, but there is a miss that make Jkay framework believe I'm not.
How & who could confirm that ?
Thanks
PS: as a noob poster, I can't ask directly on the ROM thread.
