Hi guys,
I was still running 4.4.4 (KTU84P) for a while on my Nexus 5 and decided to flash up to Marshmallow. I flashed to LRX21O (5.0) first, then to LRX22C (5.0.1) successfully. I can get it to boot up fine as well. However, no matter how many times I try flashing LMY47D (5.1.0), I get stuck in a bootloop. I'm pretty sure it's a bootloop, as I'm stuck at the 4 floating dots, and I've waited for over an hour. I've tried using the flash-all.bat as well as flashing each img manually via adb.
Anyone have any suggestions/ideas? Am I missing something?
Are you also flashing the userdata.img file and performing a factory wipe before booting the phone for the first time with the newly flashed rom?
I am also flashing user data. I've been trying to get into recovery to do a factory wipe but whenever I hold Vol up and power, I end up at the Android with the red triangle
Okay, this can be closed. I ended up flashing another version over it and it seemed to have cleared up.

Hey guys, android 5.0 has been causing many of my apps to crash. Before I installed it, I had to flash the stock rom 4.4.4 since it was rooted and had a twrp recovery. After successfully flashing the stock rom, I installed 5.0 through OTA. It's my third day with the new version and the problems are pretty bad; nearly all apps crash. I turned off my phone to see if restarting would help. After trying to turn it back on, the boot animation would be constantly running. I can get into fasboot mode but for recovery mode, there's a message saying "No command." The final problem is... I did not turn on USB debugging through the developer's options in the settings which means I can't flash/ downgrade to 4.4.4 or any other rom. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, my phone is basically a brick right now.
Thanks!
You don't need USB debugging to be on to flash through fastboot mode.
Just follow this http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/tutorial-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2513701 to flash again and it should work
I did not know that. Thanks a ton!!! :good:
I´m running Android 4.2.2 and now want to update straight to Android 5.0. Is that possible or do I have to update successively from 4.3 and higher?
I have already tried flash the google factory image and got stuck on the spinning circles for hours. Have tried the wipe cache and factory data reset, but nothing happens. So got back to 4.2.2.
Any idea on how i can taste Android 5.0 in my Nexus 4?

Are you using the Nexus 4? This is the Nexus 5 thread. However all you need to do is unlock the bootloader then run the install for the factory 5.0 and wait like 15 mins for it to boot up the first time. If you want to keep data then that's a whole different story as flashing the factory image wipe contents of your sdcard. ALL OF IT!!

Thanks for the answer! I was just wondering if there is any problem in updating it straight from 4.2.2 to 5.0. I'll try couple of times more and hope to get any luck!
Hey guys,
I haven't touched my Nexus 5 for a while and today I picked it up for some development actions. Atleast that was my purpose. I booted it and I saw it was still running the Lollipop 5.0 beta from a year a go. I immediately downloaded the lmy47i 5.1 Nexus 5 Hammerhead factory image and flashed it (using the flash-all file).
However, it was stuck at the boot animation (spinning dots) for over an hour. So I erased user data and cache (fastboot erase -w) and then flashed it, with a new fresh clean download of 5.1 again. Let it go again, but after an hour still no go.
When I loaded it into fast boot mode, I did not had to unlock it again, since it was still unlocked. But I guess that shouldn't make a difference.
I am running on a Mac, so NexusToolkit isn't an option, sadly..
Any suggestions?

What happens when you flash a kitkat rom?
Hello everyone. So I was updating CM12.1 to the latest nightly (4th of July) and when it finished flashing, it rebooted mid-boot, and when booted into 5.1 it said something about "encription failed" and told me to factory reset. So I went to factory reset it, and my CWM recovery was gone. The only thing that happened when I went into recovery is that the spinning-thing Andy popped up for 0.5 seconds again and again. I tried flashing the entire firmware again (stock 5.1) but no help.
I can access the bootloader and input fastboot commands.
I would give more system information, but now I don't know what the hell this phone's running.
moto g XT1039 cid7
Was running CM12.1
Was using CWM-6.0.5.0-peregrine recovery
Thanks for the help.
EDIT: FIXED
So, in order to fix it, i had to install stock firmware one or two times until it worked. You can get your corresponding 4.4/5.1 stock firmware from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/4g-development/xt1039-moto-g-4g-stock-firmware-kxb21-t2805619 If you install it and it doesn't go past the "Bootloader unlocked" screen, try flashing the stock firmware a few more times until it works.
Hope it helps!
I've got quite a peculiar problem with my Nexus 5.
Last night, I left my phone on charge. It was working normally and the software was functional etc. However, once I woke up, the phone was constantly restarting itself, and wouldn't load past the boot animation. I tried to load up fastboot to enter the TWRP recovery, however, the phone froze on the load screen. I should also add that my custom boot animation was replaced by the CyanogenMod mascot.
This problem has never occurred before, and I really haven't got a clue how to fix it. I tried to use WugFresh's NRT to flash a factory image of Android 6, however, the command terminal indicated that each process had failed. This did not restore the phone to its original condition.
I should also point out that I have been running a CM 12.1 nightly, which has been very stable and I have been using this nightly, without major problems (bar the infrequent system UI crashes) for a couple of months. It is obviously rooted and I have a Nandroid backup, which I can't access for aforementioned reasons.
Please could you help me with resurrecting my phone? I would be happy to clarify and elaborate upon any point of information.
Kind regards,
Sami
Have you tried manually wiping cache in fastboot or manually flashing a stock ROM in fastboot mode?

I actually have tried to flash stock Android ROMs, from KitKat to Marshmallow, however, this didn't work as there was a 'write failure' and CyanogenMod wasn't removed. I did erase the cache, but to no luck.
Sounds like the memory module on the phone is defective. I had a Nexus 5 that would constantly re-lock the bootloader after I reboot. I had another N5 where the bootloader remains unlocked and a full wipe in recovery would finish in about 3 seconds which is far too short.
I could only solve both problems by replacing the motherboard.
Ok... slightly frustrated here.
Basic issue: Have flashed CM13 (Nightly 5.17.16) along with the latest Gapps. Upon reboot my phone will go to the Cyanagenmod splash screen, appear to load for several seconds, and then restart. It keeps doing this for at least 10 minutes until I turn it off. I have re-flashed a couple times after reloading the backup but no change.
Process I used: First of all my phone already has Android 6.0.1 firmware installed (not sure if that's an issue). I have TWRP setup as recovery and rooted with su 2.52 (and yes I verified the root prior to flashing). To flash I boot into recovery (obviously), factory reset, install cm13, clear dalvik, and repeat process with gapps. I've done this before with older CM's successfully but for some reason I can't get past the CM splash screen.
Any assistance is appreciated. If I have made a completely stupid error in my process or this exact issue is covered in another thread don't hesitate to point that out!!
Thank you in advance.
You need to be on 5.0 Lollipop. Custom recovery. Rooted. Then flash the ROM after you Wipe in Twrp
