With Marshmallow, the G4 Home button now has a delay or lag before responding to the single press to return to the home screen.
It seems like an intentional delay as if the OS is expecting a double tap or possibly a call to Now on Tap (although Now on Tap is a long press, so this doesn't seem right)
Lollipop did not have this; home button response used to be pretty snappy.
Any idea how to fix this?

I am currently running the CM12 nightlies, stock kernel. I don't know for sure when this started but it has been this way for a few months.
I have long press home (hardware button) set to turn off the screen. It only works however, after I have tapped it once since it woke the last time.
Most of the other long press actions seem to work ok with the home button.
I read about some issue with the home button and how it was waiting for a double tap, so the single tap didn't seem to work, but that does not seem to be the issue, as the fix for that (turning off the double tap function) does not fix my issue.
I have only read of two other people with this same issue, but no solutions.
Hello Friends,
Been having this issue couple of times but could not get lights on to it from the devs.Note that, every ROM I installed is by clean flash(Wipe everything except internal storage)
Some ROMs has custom button actions, for example, long press on home button to sleep, double tap on home button to take screenshot.
This feature works but sometimes I have to press the home button twice or thrice to make the button responsive. In short, when I enable this option, home button is not responsive all times. I went around trying different ROMs and had this with every other ROM out there. I then found out that this doesnt happen with CM11s and occurs only in 5.x roms though. When I do not enable custom HOME button action for long press or double tap, this issue doesn't occur and home button responsiveness works fine. Can any brainy developer check on this issue please?
Already drives me crazy. About 10% of all times when I tried to simply lock or unlock phone (without double press for camera) — camera launches with long vibration. Appeared about a week ago. Stock Android 6.0.1, latest camera app.
Derped power button. Use volume button to unlock or go to service center to get it fixed.
P.S Have the same problem. I use volume button
Remember iPhone 4 and update who enabled multitasking double pressing home button. That update made some home buttons to die faster, cuz they werent made for fast double tap.
Same for Nexus 5. This will kill your power button fast. Mine is dead too. Using dt2w and a navbar button to goto sleep.
Stop using that feature, it kill power button.
Double tap home button to go to the camera and then press home button again and you unlocked the phone.
What the hell?
Didn't Samsung thought of this through?
Whoops just realised it locks after 5 seconds.
When I flashed some ROMs on this device, my home button was really slow to carry me on home page. And I've understand that's a problem in software side: practically Home Button waits some seconds before do the task to understand if you want push the button one time, two times or do a long press. It creates a delay that sometimes is really annoying worsening user experience.
To fix this issue follow these steps:
(This guide is for CM users, but it would work on all roms that allow to change button options).
>Go to options
>Find button section and go in
>Under "Home Button", remove actions of long press and double push.
>Enjoy the speed
