Hi all ,
I've recently been using the Tune In Radio app over 3G and it's been perfect .
If I turn on Wi-Fi , it gets disconnected after about 15 minutes .Turning the screen back on for a few seconds is enough to get to connect again .
The same thing happens if I use the Wi-Fi option with the HTC Sense media player - it'll stream music perfectly from my server for about 15 minutes then disconnect itself .
Turning the screen back on for a few seconds is enough to get to connect again .
I have power saver disabled in the power options ,and I'm running a "Three" branded phone , with the recent 2.3.5 / Sense 3 update .
It also did this before the update .
Is there any setting I have missed ?
Does this happen to anybody else ?
Thanks

This sounds like your Wi-Fi Sleep Policy Setting. It is set to '15 minutes' and needs to be changed to 'never'.
Go Menu> Settings> Wireless & Networks> WiFi Settings> press 'Menu' then select 'Advanced' and change the Wi-Fi sleep policy drop-down.
This will stop your phone cutting Wi-F- off 15 minutes after screen goes off. I find it actually saves more battery power on this setting too.
Hi ,
I just checked , and the Wi-Fi sleep policy was already set to "never".
I've re-saved the settings and I'll try streaming again in the morning .
Have you any other ideas in case it still disables Wi-Fi after saving the settings ?
Thanks .

Odd. Perhaps a bug with your ROM. I use Tune-In and it works ok for me with screen off for any length of time.
If you are not rooted and able to change ROM to get around this, I'd simply recommend using a screen time-out toggle widget and remember to set screen timeout to off when you want to use Tune-In. Not ideal I know. Sounds like you've got all your settings set correctly.
Can you plz check your router dhcp ip lease time and report back.
Have my Screen Timeout set to Keep Screen On on my LG G3 running 4.4.2 and something keeps resetting it back to 30 seconds. I've posted on the LG forums with no response. I've tried running Log Cat but I'm apparently too dumb to figure out how to find out what's causing the setting to change. Any thoughts?
Bump... anyone?
I think you can set the timeout on display setting, set time as you want it.
Thanks yeah... I know. I have it set to not turn off. But it still reverts to 30 seconds periodically.
I have set 2 minute timeout on my phone, and its work fine, but it will be reverts to 30 seconds if the battery is low (on state < 15%) . I'm not quite sure but i think your phone timeout setting periodically reverts is because your phone is in low battery state
My battery has never been below 50% so that's not it.
Thanks though!
EDIT: Still unsolved - see post nr3
"keep wifi on during sleep" is set to "only when plugged in" - it worked like a charm in lollipop (it switched off wifi after some seconds of disactivity), it doesn't now.
EDIT: In lollipop after some seconds of inactivity wifi was turned off, that was proper behavior I guess... It is not working in Marshmallow.
1. GSAM Battery monitor seems to have problems with showing WiFi activity on Marshmallow (shows "on" when switch is turned on, but it's inactive). I used build-in Marshmallow graph instead (settings > battery) and that showed me, that WiFi is indeed being turned off during sleep.
2. In my Lollipop WiFi became inactive just seconds after screen turned off. I expected the same behavior from Marshmallow, but it is different. It seems, that now wifi is turned off after 20 minutes of inactivity (checked few times).
Am I right about deactivation timer in Lollipop / Marshmallow? I guess It's much better now, since in Lollipop I sometimes had to keep screen active in order to install all upgrades, etc. But for me 5-10 minuted would be perfect instead of 20 minutes. Any way to change that?
After some weeks I have to say, that problem is unsolved. I can't repeat the situation when wifi was turned off when phone went to sleep.
I tried safe mode - the same effect, wifi is on when screen is off. Even after I am going back home with phone in my pocket it automatically connects to the router (with screen turned off, phone should sleep)
Does anyone have similar problem?
Bump - more info.
When I turn off Wifi my phone uses 1% or less battery during night. With Wifi turned on it uses 5-10%. If it worked like it should and turned off wifi when screen is off it would use the same amount of battery life as when wifi is off.
Could anyone at least confirm, that I am the only one that has that problem? Your marshmallow Nexus 5's are working as expected?
I have a Nokia 3 phone running Android 8.0
Ever since I got it about 5 months ago I changed the 'Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep' setting to 'Only when plugged in' because it saves battery. It worked so far, the Wi-Fi would turn off when not using my phone and it would turn back on instantly again after pressing the power button.
But a few days ago when the Wi-Fi turned off and I pressed the power button to unlock my phone it wasn't turning on again anymore. This is when other weird things start to happen on the phone with the Wi-Fi off, for example when going to the Wi-Fi settings it would freeze for a few minutes, when I go to the battery usage settings and the storage settings pages it just shows a spinning circle and they don't show up. Also when I try to restart the phone when it's in this state it takes about 10 minutes to restart it.
The only way to turn the Wi-Fi back on is to go to the 'Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep' setting, which would then freeze for a few minutes and then change it to 'Always'. When the Wi-Fi connects again the battery usage and storage settings pages work again.
I didn't install any new apps or change anything right before this started happening. I also tried doing a factory reset but I still have the same issue. Can anyone please help me with this?

This is unusual issue to me.
When you updated to 8.0? It's maybe 8.0 issue, i didn't liked how Oreo performs so i rolled back to Android 7.1.1 Nougat December Security Patch, in my opinion most stable Nokia stock ROM currently.
Maybe go to Android 7.1.1, but my advice is to wait for next update, Nokia may fix problem.

I updated to 8.0 when the first beta came out in February and it worked fine ever since then, until last week.
Just got my Mix 2S. It's a Global variant. Global Rom 9.5.4.0. Came factory sealed. Has all the usual Google Apps and so forth. Nothing shady. Unrooted/untouched. Completely stock.
Like the title says. Annoying bug. Wifi will shut itself off, I think during sleep, and not wake up when I use the phone. If I go into wifi menu, the wifi toggle is off and will not turn back on without a reboot. The toggle slides to on for a moment and then goes back to off. Exactly what you see in this video. Any ideas? Know bug? Do I need to wait for the next global version OTA?

Sorry, can't help but have observed exactly this behaviour on my Mix 2 as well. Turning off sleep mode (Settings >> Battery >> Scenes >> Sleep mode) may help.
Any progress here? Same problem.
I had this problem and fixed it by going into wifi settings and setting keep WiFi on during sleep to ALWAYS. Doesn't seem to affect battery life much if at all.
happens to me too now on stable 10.0.4 anyone any input?
I noticed before it started it asked me enable some smart feature to scan for kown wi-fi and turn itself on if it finds (was a prompt) anyone known where that setting is?
