So i recently updated my firmware and was checking around internet where i can root without change of fail, i found kingroot which will check out if root is avaible your device and if it is (this worked for my tab 4 7.0 OD2 kernel) it will install root and its ready to go! No need install twrp or other recovery stuff (sure you can install them later if need) rooting took less than minute but i also found out that theiy install their own superuser app which is pretty bad and adware aswell.... you can replace it pretty easily.
Rooting happens in app by launching their app it will check if root is avaible for your device and then press try it and let it wait till 100% and you are rooted!
No reboot needed. However you should install busybox to unlock full powers of root.

Kingroot also copies all your personal data to Chinese servers, just in case you hate not having your private data looked over by strangers in a different country

Im not sure what you mean with that link. Antivirus will detect it as virus because it uses exploit to enable root on your device. Also srsroot tool is virus because it contains exploits. There are no proof about virus (i havent seen in google). Why should you care about kingroot virus if facebook also has same premissions to use your device and billions of people use it all over world while it collects data all time. I havent seen any problems after i rooted my device and used for few months before i changed rom and wiped /system....

Wow, most of the time I remain silent towards your unprovoked, unsolicited slights, but I guess I've reached a breaking point. First off, kingroot does send your private information to a server in China, second I'm not an idiot, I know nobody from China is coming after me as a result, third, I'm not naive, I know it amounts to the same thing the NSA does on a daily basis, but four, there's a way to root without all this kingroot nonsense. Oh and finally, mind bugging the hell off, like just leave me alone? Maybe at least just for a week or so? Try out not sniping each and every one of my posts to critique everything I say, to see if it suits you at all?

Help And Support
Please Backup data! Photos and stuff you need just in case! I am not to be help responsible for data loss or if your phone dies.
This IMG has been tested on 4 phones today 2 of them needed a full wipe to get it it boot so please keep this in mine that you may have to do a full data wipe.
Please read the readme file to upgrade your modem and kernel to the newest ver.
Preparing to install this img when coming from an img with root xposed stuff like this. 1. Uninstall xposed and any mods reboot when done. Step 2 Flash via mofo let it try and boot if it hangs on the moto screen. Hold down power enter recovery and wipe cache and reboot. 3. Download android pay and update android services VIA google market setup android pay update remove cards it will not matter at this point. Just remember android pay only supports some cards and the ones you already have on your account. Also you now have to add you google wallet credit card to android pay as wallet and android pay are split up now.
If you can not boot no matter what you do and you forgot to backup your data then flash back the img you where on and boot BACK UP YOU DATA! Then start over with step 1. and when you get to step 2. Wipe cache and data.

For me it is easy as soon as I am done testing and tweaking this build I will be back on my rooted 493 img. I can always pull out a credit card to pay for somthing not like any of us walk around with your phone only and not you real wallet.
Help and Support Update
For android Pay I will post updates on my website and on XDA and remember android pay is an unrooted tweaked img with ad blocking and more.
On my website Computerfreek.com Now has updated help and support how to setup stuff like adaway,Boot anamation, Dpi and more.
I will also be posting Pre-Release images there days before there on XDA for testing. There will also be images some custom images that will not ever be listed on here on XDA. So please check out the site it is still a work in progress but it is getting there. As of right now I did not get custom IMG listed and the newest ver is still 1.6 and it is listed below. I hope to clean up OP this week with some of the same info found on my website. I maybe doing an order page where you can order an custom IMG for a fee with 3 free Updates per IMG.
I have tried everything and cannot get audio to work at all. Is anyone else having this issue or know of a fix?

Right. You have to pull out SOMETHING -- whether your phone or your credit card. It's the same action. Using the phone is not really any easier.
And in the real world, no one leaves the house without their wallet. Occasionally going to work, I have left my phone at the house, but I've never left my wallet.

Argghhh. I wish people would STOP digging up old threads. STOP IT. THIS is from September 2015! NOTHING from back then for the XT1254 is relevant for now. And Safety Net has been updated many, many times since then to block people. Anything that worked over a year ago sure wouldn't work now.
However, usually it's people who won't believe you need to pay for Sunshine to unlock their XT1254 bootloader. They dig up year old threads to ask the same question over and over like they are going to get a different answer.
Wow, you are really upset there buddy. Sorry that it bothers you. But to me, this is relevant. I have mofo root not sunshine, and i dont see the point in going through all the effort of sunshine and new roms, when moforoot works perfect. Furthermore i surely might be wrong, but i didn't see a lollipop or marshmallow ROM with these features (tweaked, tether, android pay).
I was simply asking if there was anyone who know how to get the audio working with this ROM. If you don't know, then just don't reply. What's the point in posting just to complain?

If you are still on Moforoot (with Kitakat 4.4.4 base installing a "Lollipop" image), you are 1 in a million. You're a year behind all the dev work.
And the ROM will NOT work with Android Pay -- due to all the Android Pay/Safety Net updates the past year. SafetyNet will detect Moforoot. It's obsolete, out of date ROM that will no longer work.

Getting Android Pay to work on a modified device is a constant cat and mouse game. A few workarounds were found and promptly patched by Google in Android Pay/Google Play Services/ Google App updates. If you use it frequently, unlocking is a bad idea. Android Pay might still work on an unlocked device, but any change that you make to any system files will cause it to not work, so there's no point in unlocking.
Even if you managed to root without unlocking (via moforoot or through the terrible kingroot method), you would break Android Pay because root is one of the first things that it looks for, and none of the apps/xposed modules designed to fool it are successful at doing so.

It won't. Please let the year old thread die. It was dead for a reason.
This was back 6 months ago and Safetynet has been updated several times since then.

Hey guys,
I really don't know where to ask this since this phone doesn't have a forum or anything - at least that I know of. If there is one I am glad if you can point me to it.
So, is there any way to root this device? I only bought it as a second phone for listening to music but I'd really like to root it, so, do you know anyhting?

This was essential for me. I have given up on purchasing this device. Based on monitoring the support page, it also seems the manufacturer is slow to develop updates. This device is starting to look like a manufacturer's experiment. I hope they do create an updated device and open to the US market...

If I were you, I'd try to flash root binaries via the recovery menu. Keep in mind, that I don't have that phone. If that fails, you can wait for the custom recovery and you can try to install binaries from there. Keep me updated.

Yes it is extremely slow development on this phone, since i did get it at the release there have been like 4-5 updates and none major update just some bugfixes that actually made the phone worse.
The support at MP is good fast answers but their not that good at helping you, they basically just copy&paste a standard Q&A.
My phone does stop vibrate occasionally, notification led is only functional sometimes, random reboots, Led flash is unusable on taking photos it does blend the lens so photos get almost black and some minor bugs, did contact support about this and they was not able to do anything due to that this is a gift from them. I had to pay for a shipping and repair myself.
I was hoping for root and custom rom, but as it seems that it will never happen i have an nice looking paperweight.

A custom rom might be a stretch due to the unique nature of the device, closed source code for the DAC, among other things. I have had trouble finding source code for this device, using code from similar devices tend to run into kernel panic issues.
I am working on a way to have flashable system images and a custom recovery on this device... and also a way to return the device completely to stock. The good news is that once you have binaries, you can use Fastboot to restore partitions. I have been able to re-flash experimental recovery builds with the original without any issue. No need to unlock or root.
And yes, root is possible. Kingoroot worked for me and I was able to successfully remove Kingo for SuperSU using the built in root swap tool in SuperSU.
I plan on starting a new thread for everything that I have for the Marshall London when I have everything working. Root, recovery, flashable ZIPs and stock images.
It may not be a device that is widely used but it definitely has a niche. I use it exclusively as an MP3 player because of its amazing sound. I also will be using it as a travel phone when I go to Europe. Shame the phone didn't find a larger market or even make it to North America because it's a very unique phone.

Hello, I got a free old Samsung tab 3 a week ago
At first the ROM was laggy like hell so I decided to root and install custom ROM.
The problem is every ROM, either it's KitKat, Resurrection Remix, Linage has pop up ads after my tablet connected to network around 30 mins.
Its worst on KitKat, even pop up every 20 sec ads
In lineage and RR, its appear if I start an apps.
How do I cure this infected tablet?
PS: no bad coded apps, only Gmail, Google Drive, total commander, titanium backup, and MX player and seven Guardian installed
Sounds like your router has been infected by a malware because you were used an app which injects your router
Go to 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.87.1 and login to access admin settings. If you don't know your password, lookup for default password.
Update the firmware to the latest version and it will remove the malware and factory reset your router.
There is no way that it can happen on any custom ROMs.

If so, that's where the adware probably came from. Try installing Malwarebytes from the playstore, it will scan and remove adware.

What method did you use to root the device before?
Did you re-root with CF autoroot? Is it still having the adware issue? I can guarantee you that CF autoroot will not infect the device, it's the rooting method you should have used the first time. If you still have adware then it's still there from what you did earlier. There are root methods that inject malware into system, generally, all of the Chinese softwares and rooting apps have malware that collects info from your device and sends it back to unknown servers in China for purposes that can only be guessed at. It is highly recommended that anyone using these softwares to root and customize their device should immediately convert to SuperSU and remove the Chinese software.

you answered your own question
If root is important, then skip the updates. Taking them creates risk of not being able to go back. That said, I wouldn't count on the US version getting rooted. If that is important get an international version or stick with the pixel.
Thing is, root is getting less and less necessary. Used to be 110% for me, now I'm sitting with this device and no root. The only thing I'd like to do is change the Bixbie button.
Android has come a long way.

Same here. Even the last Samsung phone I had didn't really need root which was a note 3. The phone just works.
The s8+ is a great phone so far, I just like the ability to install custom roms and customize my phone how I want.
Don't Update, If you have a Note 7.
If you dont have a Note 7, Update.. By all means.
So, Rather than wasting a post,
I have rooted mine, and I manually flash my updates over ODIN using the Home_CSC, so my data stays intact.
As soon as you flash over odin, you need to boot to TWRP, and then flash the Kernel, or else, you will enable the encryption again.
Root - Was worth it. The only things I lost was SamsungPay and Secure Folder. However, on the other hand - I've got built-in Call recording, Built-in Caller ID, Bixby button remapped to open the Camera, Ads Blocked from Hosts file, iOS Clean Emjoi's installed to system, TouchWiz removed and Nova installed in system... I can go on.

Why shouting?a simple google search will show snapdragon will not have root
Actually a quick Google search finds a root method supposedly provided by chainfire, but it's not hosted on XDA, soi I didn't trust it.

Mine's Exynos. G955FD
I didn't root the device but I know that it is carrier unlocked. I downloaded an App called North One a business banking app and when I tried to open it it said that it detected that the device had been rooted and that it would shut down due to policy or some other.... Official way to check if rooted?
I'm happy that your first option when facing a tech problem is XDA, but you still should do research with yourself.
You didn't even bother searching you just came here to be mouth fed...

No no you I tried the root checker to check root. Majisk says it's not rooted I went to reset and it also said OEM LOCKED. I just figured I wouldn't bore you with all the BS and I just wanted a straight answer. I would get on my laptop and run the fastboot commands myself but I had to pawn it cause I became homeless and had to rent a hotel room. D!©|×

Do you think someone would guess the back story? you define a problem and ask for help, doesn't work well the other way around.
If it says it's not rooted, then it's not rooted. Why download a root checker just to nullify it's report?
Did you modify your device in any way? Carrier unlocking doesn't trip CTS check.
Maybe bought the device second hand?
Please send him towards a respectable, legitimate, source other than XDA. In my thoughts this is not easily achieved. It doesn't excuse his brashness and lack of enthusiasm for solving his issue. However he could have made a worse choice! SMH
Thanks fellas. Was just having having a bad day. My real question is WHY DOES THE APP DETECT A ROOT IF THERE IS NONE? ALSO, HOW CAN I MODIFY MY SYSTEM SO THERE IS NO DETECTION.

Open the Magisk app and attach the screenshot, please.
hI ..uninstal any superuser app(Supersu,Magisk....) and try your bank app....If the phone had not any superuser app installed the rooting status is undetected for any root checker app and the bank app working normaly....nice day...
