Don't know what I'M doing wrong...

Okay, just got an exchange for a phone. New battery, new phone, new SIM card as well.
Let the battery drain from 30 to 0, then charged it all the way to 100.
Okay guys, I'm up to 84% on a few text messages and market searching. Is this serious?
What do I do for a damn good battery? I can't even text and get good battery life.
Can someone help me figure out what to do with my battery life? I was a blackberry user and new to androids so I really need help

Try doing a system reset then immediately sign in with your google credentials. I wasn't a believer that this would help with anything, but somehow it did help a bit with my battery usage.
Then try the bloat freezer program and freeze all t-mobile related programs.

The issue according to Cyanogen is a bad driver that reports the percentage to the phone, not a problem of excessive discharge. I'm not sure if it's reporting higher or lower than it should be, or if it's just plain inaccurate. Either way, it's fixable, and he's working on it.
I didn't root my phone and don't know if I should, I'm a newb and not sure how to do it and I'm worried about it. 2nd, i guess I can try the system restore option as well.
MWBehr, so your saying the phone has an issue telling me a different battery percentage than it should be? I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean?

Correct. The problem more than that is that it's lying to itself aswell. What I mean by that is the phone will automatically shutdown at 1% or so. Well if the phone thinks the battery is down to 1% when it's really at say 15%, it's still going to shut down, preventing you from using that remaining 14%.
So it really is a big problem, it's just not the problem most people think it is.
But i noticed everyone has different issues, some people the battery lasts long. Some people it doesn't (like mine). Is that what it's doing ?

Safe to share?

Is it safe to share my phones info from the menu such as the kernal version etc as i need to find out if my phone has been reverted back to stock so i can get it repaired.
If so i will post the details and could you guys help me out?
Thanks
Why wouldn't it be safe?
Not sure, i am a complete noob at this stuff hehe
arndroid version, baseband, cpu, mem, mod, build number are all safe to share.
No one can do any harm with those.
Thanks aha, are you good with troubleshooting issues with android phones?
My Galaxy 5 Stock 2.2 is experiencing severe battery issues which renders the phone useless as it will die in under 10 minutes from a "full" battery.
Any ideas what the issue is?
Look up reseting battery stats.
Apart from that there is no issue that would cause a phone to go from 100% to 0 in 10 min aside from a faulty battery.
Already reset the battery stats, recalibrated it etc, tryed everything.
Then your battery is f'ed... :-(.
x2
Look into getting a new battery or have it replaced if still under warranty.

Poor battery life due to Index Service

How is the battery life for everyone here? I am getting some very very bad battery life out of my Note Edge simply because of the Indexing Service. That is killing up to 30-50% of my battery and can see the percentages go down so rapidly..
Has anyone experienced this? Any way to turn it off as it is driving me INSANE..

Phone defective?

So this problem has been going on for some time now and it's really starting to get annoying. My S8 (G950U) has a pathetic battery life. I've contacted Samsung about this in the past and all they did was do an Odin flash. Didn't help. Resetting didn't help either. According to Ampere, my battery health is good. I'm attaching a screenshot of today's battery usage. Any help would be great.

Odin was my way to fix the issue. I also let the battery die till the phone turns off and charge it completely while it's off
its your firmware flash ARD1 firmware .....that will eliminate the problem

S7 Battery Drain? Or Potentially Another Problem?

So my sister upgraded her phone and gave me her old Galaxy S7. It has a problem, when left idle, it will drain its battery to 0%, essentially shutting itself down. But I tried watching a 50 minute video on it and it lost 20%. So theoretically, it should have about 4 hrs of video playback capacity.
So my question is, will replacing the battery solve this problem? Or could the problem be something else? Cause I really don't wanna go out and buy a new battery for this, without being certain first.
Thank you all for your responses!

If the phone is working normally, the possible reason is battery or a bug in a management service of the battery. Make e full backup, do a factory reset and see again.

My sister had this problem before she handed this phone to me. I reformatted it as soon as I got it.
So do you think that replacing the battery will really solve this?

Turn Airplane mode on the phone and leave to for a couple of hours. Then check it again.
