From reading about 6.0, were supposed to have actual app data being backed up to Google drive. This is supposed to happen when plugged in and on Wi-Fi.
This will be awesome after a factory reset, or setting up a new device!
BUT....I'm not seeing anything on my drive. Is it a hidden folder or something. It would be nice if we had a little more control/visibility of this process.

I've never seen the 'awake' bar look like this. Can anyone explain, is it the wifi? There is nothing out of the ordinary under running services and most of the info on the battery use screen was from this morning, while I was asleep.
Edit: pretty certain it was google backup transport. The 'back up my data' option was selected from a restore I had done. And I was on wifi during the suspicious activity. Made the necessary adjustments, testing now but so far it looks good.

i always disable backup transport when i install the new rom, you should try too. backup transport bounded with android system so you can't watch excatly itself alone because of this.

It's gone. Even went as far as deleting it. However, this morning I think I determined that its the wifi that was giving me the strange 'awake' bar.

Team,
Accidentally i did factory reset of my Nexus 5 without taking backup of my photos ( these are my kids photo's - the most important thing in my life)
i tried using multiple photo recovery tools, nothing is working as the NEXUS 5 is not connecting as USB Mass Storage drive.
These are most precious photo's of my life, please help ASAP.
I'm afraid there is not a way to recover data. Most of the data recovery utilities on windows require usb mass storage which the Nexus 5 does not support.
There have been many threads about this and I've yet to see anyone successfully recover anything after a wipe.
Perhaps you can use a cloud backup of some sort in the future. (Google+, Dropbox, Facebook, etc.)
Sorry.
I'm afraid there's no way to get them back. You didn't back them up to the cloud? Use Google drive or Dropbox in the future.
Try this app... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.defianttech.diskdigger
It worked for me in the past. A little confusing to use, but I figured it out.

This things happen to anyone, But sadly the lack of USB Mass Storage in the nexus makes it incompatible with most recovery tools via PC.
For now, feel happy that your kids are healthy and enjoy older pictures of them before the ones you lost.
From now on, You will make frequent backups. for sure.
Is there an option if i connect the nexus 5 to Mac machines ?
Any option of rooting and recovering ?
If there is an option to break the phone and get it.. an ready to do that as well.

I am truly sorry, but I think they are lost forever. In the future, I would suggest using Dropbox or Google+ for automatic camera uploads to the cloud.
Sign into G+ and see if it prompts you to add/back up photos

Should in now try rooting the device and try with this app ?
Got my nexus 5 today, and I have ran across an issue (I think its common) of android deleting the timestamps of images when you transfer them to a new device. I tried copying with windows, Bluetooth, NFC (Superbeam) but all these ways reset the timestamps of the pictures and just kinda screw up the whole collection.
Is there a workaround for this?
Thanks.

I don't think so.
You can edit metadata manually on a pc with third-party software. I had to do it a little time ago, but I don't know the application's name anymore. Google probably knows

The metadata doesn't change. What does change however is the file's "created" time stamp, which means teh images you took no longer show up in file managers / gallery etc in the order you took them.
I thought the metadata of a file includes this timestamp?
Edit: You're right.

I'm surprised there's not some way, this is 2014, and they have 2k 5" displays and phones with 18mo cameras why can't the phone save the timestamp when I copy a picture?
I just decided to use auto backup and not transfer the photos to my 5 because without timestamps from 1 an a half years of photos the collection looks real messy.

Hey guys,
For about two days now, ever since I updated my Nexus 5 (running on T-Mobile) to 4.4.3 using the OTA, Google Hangouts is failing to send texts in phases. For one hour or so it'll fail every other text until I resend it, then after that it works for a few hours again perfectly fine, then back to failing some.
I'm going to try using Evolve SMS for a bit to see if it happens there, but something tells me this isn't Hangouts' fault.
I am rooted and have a custom recovery, but it's been that way for months (Before 4.4.3 update) and I doubt would affect it.
Thanks,
David
Try cheating the cache in hangouts. If that doesn't work uninstall it, reboot, and then reinstall it from play store

I'll do that, I just cleared my cache/dalvik too. Unfortunately Hangouts is hardwired into stock so I can only uninstall updates, but if it acts up again I'll try that.

I do, although I'll use that as a last resort at the moment haha. Still think it's a more widespread-than hangouts problem.
Update: Switched to Evolve SMS, still happening x.x
I was also having this issue using Chompsms. Reverted back to 4.4.2 and the issue is gone. Also on T-Mobile

I think it was with T-Mo in my area. My friend was on Nexus 5 stock 4.4.2 and having the problem, it's since gone.
Tldr: Issue resolved itself, was likely T-Mobile's side
Is it possible to restore app data (mainly for a game) from my N5 to my new S6?
My N5 is rooted if it helps but my S6 isn't.
Yes just use TB I do this with every phone I own and most of the time never have problems.
