HI everyone, hope thats the right forum
I have in my possession an iphone 4 charger, and since i dont have a dedicated G2X charger i was wondering if it is possible to charge the LG phone with Iphone charger?

Well I thought iPhones use same charger as ipods which has a lot wider plug than an android charger. But if that's changed and it fits than plug it in and find out.

I don't see it working unless you have some sort of an adapter. The G2x uses a micro USB port, and the iPhone uses a proprietary port.
please see bellow what charger i have. just need to plud the USB cord in the charger, since it have USB input.
so, technically it should work, but will this affect the battery in the long run? i mean, maybe the voltage\current values are different.
If it is a USB adapter then it should conform to USB standards and would then work. I think most of the previous responses assumed you meant a charger with the iPhone tip.

Actually it's likely it won't work. Compare the amps on the G2x charger vs. the iPhone one (and just about any other generic USB charger). All the one's I have are different, lower, and don't work with the G2x. One of them, for some odd reason, makes the touchscreen not work at all when plugged in.

That is not correct, iphone charger will work technically, however it will reduce your battery life over time due to iphone charger are 1amp while g2x charger is 0.7Amp. Amps must meet to properly charge at the pace selected by manufacturer and battery specs. Lower amp takes time to charge, higher amp will charge fast but will reduce life.

Don't worry, using that iPhone charger/adapter won't turn your Android phone into an iPhone.
The iPhone charger/adapter is a 5 volt USB adapter, it will work. The battery will charge normally, there's a charge regulation circuit in the phone and protection circuitry in the battery which will ensure that the battery won't be screwed. I use a variety of USB power adapters which range in their current rating which is the maximum current the device is capable of supplying at the rated voltage (although the cheap adapters' output voltage decreases as the current output (load current) increases. The LG power adapter I have is rated at 4.8 Volts and 1 Ampere output. I use that, a USB port on my computer which is rated at 5 Volts and 1/2 Ampere (500 ma), and other 5V power adapters. I also use a variety of micro USB cables some of which are just for supplying power, not data, and they work too.

Yes, it's totally safe. I've got a service manual for an LG phone which is substantially the same as the G2X and Optimus 2X which shows the battery charge circuitry. That circuitry regulates battery charging. Here's some more info regarding the battery:
90% = 4.05V +/- 0.05V
60% = 3.83V ditto
30% = 3.72V ditto
10% = 3.64V ditto
OFF = 3.42V
The battery voltage decreases according to the load current (milliamps) over a period of time. The higher the load current during a specific period of time, the quicker the battery voltage decreases; that's why it is important to have everything except the cell radio and the operating system off when the phone is in standby. There will be some background processes, etc., which are necessary too. Bluetooth, GPS, and WiFi quickly drain the battery. Automatic updating should be turned off always. If you're not expecting any calls, turn the phone off. Setup your phone to reroute received phone calls to your home or work phone, if the call is important they will leave a message, then pick up the messages at your convenience. Use a ROM and kernel which are known to have good battery life.
ive been useing the iphone dock to charge my g2x and it works fine lol no issue
I know this is a bad subject to bring into discussion but notice the S4 charger for the wall charger charges faster I bought a generic car charger for my last phone and it couldn't even keep up with the charge if I was using the GPS...... Any idea what a good car charger brand is or even Samsung makes for for the S4? I really would like a nice car charger that won't screw things up with my phone thanks all if you can just put your input if not thats ok too...

Is there a way within the UI to see how much charge the phone is getting? I have a generic USB car charger and I want to know if it's .5, 1, or 2 amps.
Generally I'm happy if I can use Google Maps navigation on a charger without losing any battery % but it would still be nice to know if I'm getting the fastest charge possible.

Generic car chargers, usually offers 700mah or 1000mah for the most.
It seems that getting 2000mah charger is the only good solution.

Battery Monitor Widget from the market will. It shows discharge rate when off charge on charging rate when on charger.

I have the same one. Works great.
Just keep in mind battery monitor widget does a best guess calculation on Samsung devices because Sammy refuses to put the code in that reports the actual current. Back on GB on my Captivate one of the roms had the code and it was nice but Samsung in its infinite wisdom deems it more important to include 500MB of bloat and omit this tiny important driver.

Just to point out.... While you do need a 2A+ charger, the cable also plays a huge factor. I've measured anywhere from 460mA to 1900mA depending on the cable plugged into it.

I guess you could consider a aftermarket charger a accessory....... so ive seen on here that every one is pretty satisfied with the 2amp charging speed on our phones, I had a 3amp charger (lost it) that I tried to charge my gs3 on and the battery got really hot. I wonder if a 3amp usp port would charge the gs4 faster?? Or just be a wast of money?

Imo its a waste of money... I personally am still going to use my 850mA chargers in most cases, but Ill keep my 2amp nearby in case I need a quick 20% mid day

S4 has a hardware limitation on charging current, right now it won't go above 1100mah while charging which is 1.1a, perhaps in future with kernel development we'll be able to raise the charging current but for now purchasing a charger above 2a would be completely useless.

On this point what you need to realize is that the usb cable loses a bunch of the power on the way... so like, a 3 foot cable might deliver most of the power to the phone ... a 10foot cable might only deliver 66% of it... so really a 2amp charger is whatthe s4 needed but going above it is kind of useless
The S4 actually goes to 1,910a when charging, I've checked with and app (galaxy charging current) that's why it charges so fast

Do the lights dim everywhere in your house?
Oh and guys/gals, you cannot get around Ohm's law. 2A at 5V is 10Watts. You can use a 10A (50W) PSU but your phone will only use what it's designed to charge at unless you increase the voltage which I don't recommend unless you like to smell burned electronics.
Larger power supplies do have an advantage, however. You can charge multiple devices at the same time, i.e. a tablet, phone, spare battery, all at once. Good to prepare for a storm like we had last night here.

10w is not a lot btw... My laptop pulls 60w on load and a hair dryer is 1000w... I mean't 1.9A sry for the confusion in french we use "," for the decimals in numbers

1900 here for me as well, USB cords can also limit the current supplied, can only get this rate on a 6' (or less) my 10' and 15' each drop down quite a bit

Haha yes I figured, just being sarcastic, no harm meant.
I will add using this app I find interesting results of cable length vs. mA delivered. If you want to charge fast use a shorter cord.
I may connect it to a bench supply and see how it reacts to a gentle overvolt, say 5.5V. This could be what's needed to compensate for a longer cable, i.e. getting ~2A with a ten foot cable!

Just a thought but what about a 10ft+ cord with a 3 amp charger? I wonder if the 3 amp will bring up the charging?

The currents which we're discussing when charging apply from the phone to the battery which subsequently uses the battery voltage as a charging indicator. Those 1.9A only happen at low battery percentages with voltages around 3.6V or lower, with raising voltage the current is limited. This is basically what QC quickcharge is. I don't really see the gimmick in it, as such a logic could be emulated in software on any phone.
I wonder if the Samsung Car charger Fast Adaptive which is the name sammy gave for Quick Charging 2.0 is compatible with the M9?
The wall charger version work from what I heard but dunno about the Car one
Maybe the output specs could shed some light on interoperability. I'd guess that between the differences of Samsung's Exnos processor and Qualcomm's Snapdragon there isn't much collaboration to build a common fast charging standard. Too bad, that.

It's made for the note 4 qualcomm too so it must be the same, I also saw somewhere you don't need a snapdragon cpu

Some users said yes, in another hand S6 and note 4 are 100% compatible with quick chargers 2.0

General properties of batteries. Fast charge and discharge cycles cause them to break down sooner.
Guys, I tested the Samsung Adaptive Fast Charger and it was a no-go. I tried two different ones under ideal charging conditions and what I found was the charger would sync with the phone and boost to rapid charge levels, but it wouldn't sustain them. It kept prematurely stepping back down to slow-speed, lower amperage levels. So IMHO you should save your $$.
The QC2.0 certified chargers that I have found work 100% are the ZeroLemon wall charger and the PureGear 12v car charger. Both will lock the phone on at high rates of charging unless (or until) the phone heats up too much, then charging is throttled until the phone cools down some. My observations are that it will definitely throttle after temps rise above 100F and if you cool the phone down by (e.g.) holding it in front of the A/C vent, rapid charging resumes.
Ok so I tested the Samsung Fast Adaptive Car charger and it's pretty fast even with the screen ON due to the Car App, though better let the screen dim by itself or the phone will get hot.
Conclusion: I recommend this charger even though it's a little bit more expensive than Chinese cheap QC 2.0 that can end up DOA or be bad for your battery
My wall QC 2.0 charger works as it should once over 3 and the screen can be a little weird
I'm looking for a Car charger that can fast charge the V10 and also had a 1 amp output. Has anyone seen anything like this? All the dual car chargers I have seen that offer QC 2.0 have a second port that is 2 amps. I want to charge my phone and power my electronic cigarette that gets hot when using a 2 amp output.

Get this one. Very good. Quick charge 2.0 on one then the other slot provides 2.4amp output for universal any device and even tablet could charge off it as well.

Reason why I posted it, having read very well the op, I was having same issue and got this one which surprisingly works in my car.
I have the same one and it works without any problems. Perhaps you (OP) could reply in a better way instead of being snippy, he really did give you a good suggestion of what to get.

Look at Anker products, I have their "smart" charger. It adjusts to what is needed and supports quick change.
Regardless of smart or not, the device requiring the power will dictate how much amperage it draws unless charger or device is faulty up to the maximum available via the charger. Perhaps your ecig is very basic and is really meant to be used with a pc usb that doesn't supply more than 500mA and doesn't have the ic circuitry to cut and control it's own intake..
Like it has been mentioned for a charger to supply qc 2.0 it has to be rated at 1.8mA minimum, so most will be 2mA~
I spend a lot of time looking at chargers and havent seen any single that meets your requirements. I'd suggest getting a socket splitter and using two small chargers. One older 500-900mA and another qc 2.0.

I wouldn't recommend anything but the cars port for the cig lighter.
Reason is, anything else that you plug that lighter into will be made partially out of plastic and will more than likely melt as the lighter heats up.
OP needs a lower output ( 1 Amp-500mA) to charge an electronic cigarette/vape mod and is not using the actual cigarette lighter. Honestly I would just advise that you remove the battery from your mod to charge because typically when mods fail it is either because a battery is being over-discharged (user error or mechanical short) or the IC circuitry fails causing the battery to vent. Charging your IMR batts in a dedicated charger tends to promote better daily use and overall extended life cycle. If you are still limited to keeping the battery installed in your mod while charging, is QC absolutely necessary? I personally have not ran into an issue topping off using a standard charger while driving.
EDIT: I thought the flux capacitor was a joke but looked it up and it actually fits your needs..
