Hello, everyone
I'm trying to use root in my samsung galaxy pocket GT-S5310B, but I'm having some troubles. I used towelroot, in the first time it works, but after remove some programs root (like supersu and super user), I get the following error in adb shell:
Code:
$ su
Connect ui: Timer expired
So, I stuck here. I don't know what to do. Do you have suggestions?

FYI, use the XDA search feature and type:
"Galaxy S pocket root" (without quotes) and you'll find several results.
Good luck!

Hey guy's, I've beentrying to install clockworkmod on my Epic for some time now to no avail. See, I just rooted my phone using the noobnl's "one click method v2.2.6". The only recovery I have on my phone as of right now is tthe stock recovery. I've read just about every post about the installation on clockworkmod recovery and tried accordingly. Still no custom ecovery. Im really noob to all this "wiz stuff", and would greatly appreciate any help you guy's could give me. Perhaps some DETAILED step by step instructions ( CUZ IM REAL BRAIN DEAD AT TIMES )?? I have DI11 installed on my phone as of now, and im running the stock kernel v2.6.29. again, Im rooted with "noobnl's one click" and I do have root. Also, I need to know if you download to my pc, then push it to my phone using command prompt? Do I flash it with Odin? And what do I do after I run the clockworkmod exploit? Will I have custom recovery after that, is there anymore steps involved? Thank you all for making this site the best web site I"ve been on so far. You guy's are the best. Please hel[p with my dumb question, and sorry to waste your time. Thankx IA..

Download the .zip from that. Extract it to your desktop and rename the folder "cwm". Open up command prompt. Type this:
Code:
cd C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\Desktop\cwm
adb shell
su
remount rw
exit
exit
After that, run the run.bat from the folder.

Excuse the stupid question please, do I have the sdcard mounted, or unmounted? I heard it can be done either way...
The only thing you use Odin for is to flash a complete .tar file. Ie, returning to stock, or updating to a new release DG27, DI07, or DI18

Make sure it is NOT mounted as a mass storage device. Make sure you can access it from the phone. So, don't mount it.

Technically, custom ROMs can be made for Odin, too... But since it's not a very good method, everyone prefers the recovery method. noobnl released his first rooted kernel for Odin. Odin does a lot more than just complete .tars.

I ran the commands as you stated, then ran the exploit. It keeps saying,
"remove stock recovery patcher"
"device not found"
system (something) install recovery.sh permission denied
"system/recovery-from-boot.p permission denied
failed to copy 'zImage' to /sdcard/zImage: permission denied
reboot: operation not permitted
im failed for /sdcard/zImage, permission denied
So what do you think is going on? Any thoughts?
I had same exact issue. Went back to completely stock then rooted then did clockwork. Do not mount sd card. Follow instructions exactly.

I'm having the same issue. When trying to 'su' to do the remount I'm getting a permission denied... but apps that require root seem to be working.

Is your phone in debug mode? (Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB Debugging) Did it actually let your run those commands I told you?
Yes, my phone is in fact in debugg mode. My desktop command prompt does let me run the commands.
Adb devices
Adb shell
Su #
Remount rw
Exit
Exit
After I type the command "su" it gives me the #. Then on my phone a superuser request comes thru and askes to chose "yes" or "no". So I hit "yes". But when I run the exploit in the beginning it says "mount", and it says that the operation is not permitted... then it starts saying "I'm failed for" and "operation not permitted" and so on.. I think I'm missing a step somewhere but I don't kno...

Running su through adb shouldn't ask for permission the phone... that is weird.

I spent the weekend trying to get my Epic rooted and cwm installed. I was finally successful with both. CWM I had to install by typing in each command that was in the bat through the cmd window with adb.

So exactly what are the steps you took to install clockworkmod manually through windows command prompt? Do I just look in the bat exploit?
I've switched now completly to ubuntu, and now my first problem: No Windows, no Odin to flash stockroms.
So i've searched and found a app called heimdall, but i did'nt find a good starterguide how to use it.
So i hope that some of our guys here know how To Use it, and provide me a good getting started guide or a link to another good program To flash stockroms via ubuntu.
Thanks in advance

I think i have to say, that i'm using heimdall 1.4.0 with the frontend extension.
first step is to connect heimdall with the phone -> detected
then download the pit file from phone, but this wont work because of usb issues.
do i have to istall usb driver, and if yes, how do i manage this? -Solved
Sorry for the noob questions... I'm new to ubuntu and linux
Edit: In my softwarecenter i found the libusb 1.0 as installed but how do i manage the root rights?
To get root, do i have to write in terminal: <sudo chmod 777 heimdall-frontend> ?
And i've got following error: <ERROR: Failed to access device. libusb error: 0>
greetz
You have to execute the frontend with root rights. chmod isn't needed.
Code:
sudo heimdall-frontend

You can try using heimdall from commandline ( there are some threads on this forum on that)
If you still need GUI, you can try other variants of ubuntu like xubuntu / lubuntu (you can use live cd)

Hi amigos on the internet!
I recently purchased an Asus TF700T about a week ago and still I'm having trouble rooting it.
Tried basically every method I could. I desperately seek help!
My device is unlocked though SU say's there is no binary installed.
I don't have fastboot on my device it only shows three images which is the RCK logo ANDROID logo and WIPE DATA logo.
There is not USB logo.
I have JB 4.2.1
Build number :
JOP40D
If you need anymore information I would be glad to provide! Please and thank you for taking the time! I just want to root and have TWRP on it
Unfortunately I do not know how to get TWRP
When trying to root it with DeBugfs I get this
Waiting for device to be detected…
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
Found system partition at: /dev/block/mmcblk0p1
Step 1 – Pushing files…
failed to copy ‘debugfs’ to ‘/data/local//debugfs’: Permission denied
failed to copy ‘su’ to ‘/data/local//su’: Permission denied
failed to copy ‘debugfsinput’ to ‘/data/local//debugfsinput’: Permission denied
failed on ‘/data/local/tmp’ – Permission denied
link failed File exists
Rebooting…
Once your devices has finished restarting,
Press any key to continue . . .
Step 2 – Rooting…
For this step, ignore any error messages that say “File not found”
Unable to chmod /data/local/debugfs: No such file or directory
/system/bin/sh: can’t open /data/local/debugfsinput: No such file or directory
rm failed for /data/local/tmp, Permission denied

rm failed for /data/local/su, No such file or directory
rm failed for /data/local/debugfs, No such file or directory
rm failed for /data/local/debugfsinput, No such file or directory
Rebooting…
Once your devices has finished restarting,
Press any key to continue . . .
Finally the following appears:
Rooting FAILED! You may want to try running this tool again.
Your device region may not be supported if you see this message again.
Press any key to continue . . .
Your help will be greatly appreciated it! I will also donate through pay-pal since I'm very desperate, haha. Thanks again!
You need to run the tool as administrator
Also, have you used the unlock file from Asus. You must be unlocked, bootloader unlocked, for this to work.

What is your firmware version? If you are on anything later than 10.6.1.14.8, then you have to downgrade in order to root... You are already unlock and why don't install custom recovery and custom rom...
You don't have to donate to me because I am here trying to help out new user....

Apparently you didn't read the text in the upper left corner - recent bootloaders activate fastboot already in the bootloader menu.
So you can use fastboot to install TWRP (read the guide on the teamw.in website or here on xda), then TWRP will offer you to install a root app.
And ignore the "you have to downgrade to root" advice - that's only relevant if you don't want to or can't unlock.

Hello,
I am attempting to follow the instructions to root the S8+ on the SamPWND thread. I have successfully flashed the four files with ODIN and booted my phone. However, whenever I attempt to use adb to push the systemroot folder to the phone, I am met with the following error:
adb: error: failed to copy 'systemroot\debloat.sh' to '/data/local/temp/debloat.sh': secure_mkdirs failed: Permission denied
I have tried rebooting the phone several times and reflashing, to no avail. Does anyone know what I need to do to fix this?
Thanks!
EDIT: I've figured it out, incase anyone is running into this same issue, please right click the "cmd-here" file and run it as an administrator.
