Only have seen this once in my Honor 6, and was the first day using it. Problem was that I forgot that my router was configured with a white list (only IP devices listed can connect to wifi). After adding my Honor 6 IP to the list, it got connected instantly.

[Q] Wifi issue ! (Lollipop 5.1)

Hi All,
I got the Lollipop 5.1 OTA 2 days ago and installed it - everything went smooth and the phone working fine...
But I noticed that if I reboot my router (or turn it off / on again) the Wifi don't reconnect unless I turn on the screen (the second I turn on the screen the wifi connect normally).
I didn't have this issue with Lollipop 5.0.1
P.S.
I know that this is happening because I have a led on my router telling me if any of my Wifi devices is connected or not. And to make sure I also entered the router settings to see if my phone is connected or not.
Anyone noticed that issue with the new lollipop 5.1 ?
Cheers,
I think that your problem is not switching off the router. The problem is when your phone goes to suspension (screen off) and then it drops the wifi off.
My Nexus 5 with 5.1 is doing the same

I've got some similar behaviour here, both when updated from 5.0, and with a fresh install from the factory images. When I arrive at a place with known WiFi, the phone only connects once I turned on the screen. After that, it stays connected until I move out of range and back again.
It's probably a matter of responsiveness/battery life. The more it polls for networks, the more battery it uses. It should connect, even with the screen off, within a few minutes.
That being said, I have my wifi set to always stay connected, and I've seen it not connected when I turned the screen on, then connect a couple seconds later. So, there's that. Curious how often it does that.

That's what I suspected. Sometimes, the waiting game works, but I've had my N5 lying on my desk – where it usually gets full WiFi bars – for about 40 minutes the other day, still it did not connect until I turned the screen on.
Edit: Just now, my phone disconnected from WiFi when the screen turned off, which leads me to believe that this is all caused by the WiFi sleep policy. Could it be that Google messed up something there?

My "research" has led me to believe this is the case.
Anything in terms of a workaround?
I came across those settings in the developer options (see screenshot), especially the "Always allow WiFi Roam Scans" looked promising. Been playing with them, but so far no luck.
Hi All,
exactly the same issues as yours guys are happening since I received the OTA 5.1 and installed it !
I Guess something messed up with this new update in regard of the wifi... as you mentioned.
If you come across a workaround or a confirmation from "Google" please share.
Cheers,
(With almost everyone nowadays having data ..it is difficult to notice such a behavior due to the fast wifi/data switching)
I have seen this happen as well. My battery graph will even show a missing area for WiFi indicating it turned itself on and off twice within a few hours and then stayed on after that.
Google just now released LMY47I, has anyone had a chance to see if that version fixes our problem? Once I'm off work (in about 8 hours), I'll give it a whirl and report back.

Could you please elaborate on that? I'm familiar with Tasker, but I can't think of a way of dealing with this, since I'm not sure what actually happens with the WiFi. The settings appear untouched.

I'm sorry, but my phone is now in the service center , and press that I do not remember specifically . The idea is that when you disable wifi, a time interval is forced to connect to a particular network . Look presence on the internet , here is full of instructions.

Almost all of the changes on these different builds are SIM related for specific carriers.
LMY47I was only released to LGD821 devices with SIM cards from Indian and Australian carriers
Same problem here. I am slowly losing faith in Google. Get the frickin basics going guys!!!
Back to my 5.0.1 build.
I've gone back to 5.0.1, too. Pity, except for this I was pretty happy with 5.1. Maybe 5.1.1 will actually be usable.
Do you think it can be related to Issue 163350? code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=163350
I have just reported that, but I'm still trying to understand if it just happens to me or what.

I think the solution is "use vibrate mode on". Get your device to vibrate mod and test it.
I am waiting for your feedback.

Honor 8 Hotspot keeps on disabling itself for no reason

Hello!
I've had my Honor 8 for about a year now, and I haven't had any problems until now.
Basically, when I activate the hotspot, it just disables itself after a few seconds, even if my wifi is turned off and my mobile data is on. I've tried changing the frequency, the name, the password, everything.
I'm not root and the only thing I haven't tried and don't want to try is a factory reset.
Sometimes it works though, and I have found no link with anything yet.
I recorded my phone but unfortunately I can't send a YouTube link (new user)..
Any idea?
Have this problem too. It can be fixed by switching in Hotspot setting/Device list/Enabled devices from All to Enabled (add the requested device into whitelist). It is strange.
Have the same problem
Sorry for ressurecting, but I have same issue. It doesn't disable itself, but stops working after a minute, the displays goes off. :/

Weird Wifi Problem

Just got my new OP6 and i love it, especially the nocth . But one problem i`m facing is that the Wifi sometimes after it gets "dozed" out it doesnt turn back on. Only a reboot can help. ANyone else experiencing that problem?
Have you already updated your device to 5.1.5 via OTA?
You can find the update here -> https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/oneplus-6-mirrors-official-oxygen-os-t3792244

Seriously, sounds similar like the bug from Lineage OS in OPO but the other way round. My OPO while leaving a wifi coverage area, will not be able to switch to mobile data. It just shows an X on mobile data. Only fix was to reboot. The issue happened while I was connected to a 5GHz wifi though, and soon after switching to 2.4GHz wifi, I did not face the issue anymore. I know your device is the newer OP6, but maybe you can try to observe when exactly does the issue happen. Only at office, home and etc? And what is the wireless freq band 2.4 or 5 just to verify if it has anything related.

I don't know, I updated immediately to 5.1.5
The problem has been happening consistently during the few last days, in my Wifi advanced options it used to be Wifi always on , i changed it to no in the keep wifi during sleep
So now whenever the phone sleeps more than 10 minutes and disconnects from the wifi , when I use it again it does not connect to the wifi and when I go into wifi options I can't turn the wifi On. If I wait for 4 -5 minutes with the screen on, the problem resolves itself and a restart solves it immediately
Edit: this Problem has been happening for a lot of OnePlus 3 3t 5 5t users ...

I see, thanks for clarifying your case. So in your situation, it most likely started after changing the "Keep wifi on during sleep". Did you try to revert that setting and verify if issue still persist? Not sure if OP toggled this same setting as well.
EDIT: Found this reported in oneplus forum with regards to op6.

Wifi dozing off after some period of inactivity on phone.
Hi,
I have the same issue of wifi dozing off after some period of inactivity. The wifi symbol always shows that the wifi is connected. And I have the setting of "keep wifi always on during sleep". I found this issue on my new phone I bought, a month back. Customer service were very quick to send a replacement phone. But I can see this issue on the new phone too. I need to turn off my wifi and turn it back on many times in the day to get my messages and emails or to browse online. Whatsapp calls don't get through too. I have checked this issues with 2.4ghz and 5 GHz WiFi networks. My phone is currently running on OS 5.1.8. I think OnePlus customer service has created a ticket for this issue. Kindly let me know if anybody had this issue and got it resolved.
I love the phone. I would hate to not be able to use it.

I have the exact same problem!
I thought it to be my router/access point so actually set up a completely new router and access point (which was overdue anyway), but problem is still happening.
Every other wifi device works fine.
Also on OS 5.1.8

Hi guys, I've got a OP6 5.1.9, android 8.1.0, I was having the same problem. I tried everything ;reboot, plane mode, turn off and on router, change to wifi setting to static... but all didn't work.
Then I thought of changing the SSID Name (wifi network name) and now I can connect my phone.
Hope this solution works for you.
I am on Android Pie beta 3 and still facing the same issue.
Possible Solution!
Phone: OnePlus 6 - Android 9.0 pie
Just came across this problem starting last week. It initially started by connecting to 5G wifi when I got home from work but not the internet. Switching to 2.4 worked then back to 5G also worked. Yesterday nothing worked, not even neighbors wifi for work wifi. Tried everything on here and what google suggested but as most of you nothing worked. Today I found a solution..
1.) Open SETTINGS
2.) Go to SYSTEM
3.) Go to RESET OPTIONS
4.) Open Wi-Fi, MOBILE & BLUETOOTH
5.) Click RESET SETTINGS
6.) Enter Password and re-click RESET SETTINGS
DISCLAIMER:
It DID NOT reset my apn or mobile settings to default on Tmobile. Phone worked just fine and reconnected immediately to the mobile network. WIFI now seems to be working just fine. Hope this helps some of you!

Android 10 - wifi sleeping while screen locked

Hi guys!
I did a lot of googling and searching through XDA, but never found a solution for my problem, so I might as well try it here.
Recently I updated my Sony Xperia X Compact to AOSP 10. Now when I am connected to wifi (and it does NOT matter whether it is 2.4/5GHz or IPv4/IPv6, I tried everything) and my screen is locked, my system seems to put the wifi connection into some kind of battery saving mode. Notifications then will hardly come through. You can also see this in WhatsApp Web - every two minutes or so, "Phone not connected" will show up, and messages take up to 2 or 3 mins to get delivered. Then I can use Whatsapp Web normally for 30 secs, after which my phone seems to disconnect again. If I unlock my screen, WhatsApp Web will immediately (!) start working normally again, also missing notifications (e.g. Signal) will then come through.
While of course this might be a ROM bug, I am at least 100% sure it IS ROM-related, as I used exactly the same phone with exactly the same router without any problems while on Android 9 LineageOS.
Another interesting thing - if I charge my phone, during charging WhatsApp Web works completely without problems. The moment i UNPLUG the phone, wifi gets somewhat throttled agian.
Does anybody know a working solution for this? I do not have the option "Disable wifi sleep" or something similar - i believe Google has dropped this option somewhere around Pie.
Thanks in advance!

AFAIK there are kind of wifi energy saving options on some devices. But IDK if you can enable or disable wifi when phone is locked

Hotspot disconnecting each 8-10 minutes, no way!!!

I had a terrible deception when I renewed my Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro for a _Xiaomi Poco X3 NFC, because I thought that the connectivity issues I had with Redmi Note will disappear in the Poco X3.
The problem is that each time I use my hotspot wifi connection to share 4G internet with my Surface, or my Amazon Fire, after 8-10 minutes suddenly wifi connection stops, and I get my device frozen in the middle of a film, TV series, etc.
I use it also to work outside, and the only remedy I have so far is to press the bottom on the side to unlock the phone each 4-5 minutes, if I remain doing this the connection stands.
Anybody have the same issue? How can I fix it?
I read time ago when i had the redmi that it was something iremediable in MIUI, is that true???
Thanks to all, I am desperate.
Not a real solution but you can always set the device to remain unlocked at your location and always on -- better plug in the charger while this is on, BTW...
In Hotspot settings there's an option to automatically turn tethering off if no device is connected. Though it shouldn't make a difference as you're actively using it and it turns off anyways. In developer settings there's a switch for Hardware accelerated tethering which is supposed to lower the power consumption of said function so it might affect how long it stays on.
I can't fix it, anybody could tell me a solution????
Isn't anybody else suffering from this, or simply nobody cares about it??

Assuming you have tried the settings I suggested and the workaround from pnin your best shot is probably doing a Factory Reset or flashing the full stock ROM and doing "format data" to exclude a hardware issue.
As you can see it doesn't look like a common problem with our device as over a hundred people have seen this thread. Two of them are trying to help you.
PS: I've just tested it by watching a 20 min video on my huawei tablet connected to POCO X3 hotspot no problem. It hasn't disconnected and the Hotspot is still up.
But it is a new smartphone, it started from the first day I had it. How can a factory reset fix something that was since the very beggining??
It happens to me everyday and now it is still happening.
The only other option is that my Surface and my Amazon Fire 8, both of them disconnect automatically from it, which is very strange thing.
same problem with me, im using POCO X3 GT its a new device, which i bought it two month ago, its keep disconnecting from my PC, when i using tethering either, wifi tethering or USB tethering both have same problem,
after a certain time, its keep disconnecting, and weird, that the no connection show on my PC, but while i checked on my Phone, it said still have connection,..
please give me some solution....
ive got the same issue here, just got used to it ... ive given up on all the solutions here there and everywhere ... i think its a bug in the software of the redmi note 8 pro ...

Hi guys i would like to announce that I might just possibly found the solution to the disconnecting issue. 3 steps.
The first step go to your setting .
Second step find for the battery and performance setting.
3 steps find the setting symbol in the battery and performance page.
You then might see the a command "turn off mobile data when device is locked" set to 5 minutes or what so ever in your default then change it to never.
This should solve the problem off the hotspot keep disconnecting when you connect from the external device.
