Hi i need help with z3 and pebble. I have rooted z3 using kingroot using stock rom. My problem is that i use my pebble to enable my mobile hotspot while i drive it's easier and safer for me than pulling my phone out when i need to use hotspot. i have an lg leon on lollipop that works, but for some reason i cannot get it to work using z3 lollipop. i have given one of the programs root permission it is called dashboard for toggles, it gives a toast saying that it has been granted permission but it does not enable the hotspot. my z3 is with tmobile. i was forced to take this phone because of service issues with my flex that is no longer available. i have also made the app a system app through titanium backup, it did not help. the hotspot can be activated on the phone without any problems. i did not to my knowledge unlock bootloader i'm not sure if that would have any affect as to why it would not work. Any help would be appreciated.

After reading about the Xposed framework I decided to write a module to bypass the validation checks for wifi tethering / mobile hotspot.
This method will allow you to bypass the validation without having to worry about moving around APKs, backing them up, setting permissions, etc. It also will no longer contact the actual servers used to verify if you have permission to use the tether.
This Xposed module works by replacing the list of entitlement apps available in the string array "config_mobile_hotspot_provision_app" with an empty set. This means that the entitlement app is not run at all and defaults to the native tether immediately.
Works with VZW, AT&T, Sprint, DE and non-DE devices running 4.4 or 4.4.2.
Installing
Be rooted and have the Xposed framework installed
Search for and download "X Tether" under the download section of the Xposed installer
Activate the module in Xposed.
Reboot.
Tether away!
SPRINT ONLY: Change the line ro.mot.tether_dun_required=1 in your build.prop file to ro.mot.tether_dun_required=0

This guy made this for the Moto X, however people on rooted Moto G's have this working on their devices.
I just recently purchased an unlock code and rooted my Verizon Moto G (Yes, you read that right, Verizon) and installed this tweak.
The Verizon Moto G doesn't even have the menu options for tethering, however it did make this app work. (It used to say that my plan doesn't have tethering and whatnot)
When enabled, my phone does broadcast and other devices can connect, but it seems as if DHCP isn't getting enabled because no device can get an IP lease.
So close, yet so far.
Anyone here knowledgable enough to get this working right?

Few things:
Can you link to who or how you got the unlock token (seen it before but it ended for the one source)
Supposedly the kernel has been modified to kill tethering at the core or something. Some tether apps that require root, can fix this by putting in what was removed.
Also, you can use pdanet+ to use bt to share your internet. It requires pda tablet on the other device and you probably can't share more than one device at a time but at least it doesn't require root or any major workarounds.
so you may have noticed that in lollipop 3rd party apps no longer turn on/off mobile data.
BUT: after rooting with supersu 2.4.4, i noticed that the app power toggles CAN turn on and off mobile data! i dont know if it will work for any app but after unrooting just to check, i can report that rooting allows data to be toggled, at least in that one app!
i noticed the same thing but with a different app (GreenPower). I denied it root access when I first upgraded to Lollipop and it wasn't able to turn off mobile data until I went back and gave it root access. I guess not allowing apps access to controlling data without root must be another Lollipop "feature"
I recently purchased an unlocked note pro 12.2 p907a and I can't find a hotspot option anywhere. I'm using a tmobile sim card but the only hotspot app that came with the tablet is for att customers. What apps are you using to generate a hotspot on your note? Also, I'm stock, not rooted.
You can try Wifi Tether Router in the Play store but its a paid app. Use the configuration settings (link in app description) for the Note 3 or email the developer. He responds very fast and will help you out if you cant get it to work.
Any progress on this? Just got my tablet with same question. WiFi tether requires root and I'm hoping to find non root option first if out there. Willing to root but just getting started here.
I have a rooted s7 on the stock rom and kernel. Exposed framework is installed.
I have been wanting AutomateIt to allow my phone to automatically turn on/off my hotspot when it connects to the bluetooth in my car.
It just doesn't work. I can manually turn on and off the hotspot with no problems, but would really some automation on my phone.
On my S5, I had no problem having it automated using exposed and xtether.
I understand Marshmallow has different permission settings and that may be why, but has anyone figured out a solution for this?
bump for any help or potential steps toward solving this.
Have u tried tasker? Remember to give root permissions to the task

Hi all,
Just like the title says, my Pixel 4a doesn't allow hotspot. It says "To use Mobile Hotspot, please call customer service to subscribe." But if I put the SIM into my G6, it works fine. Bought the phone from Google. My service is Verizon. I have the grandfathered unlimited data. Any suggestions? I was thinking of getting a new SIM card and seeing if that does the trick, but concerned that it may block the hotspot on my G6.
Found the answer to my problem. If you by chance checked the box to allow Verizon to manage your phone, you may need to reinstall Android and start over without that part selected. It's finally working.
