no 4G network on B511 H60-L04 - Honor 6, 6 Plus Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
after i upgraded from B380 to B511, there is no choise in network mode settings to select 2G/3G/4G. Only 2G and 3G is available. Why? On B380 there are all network modes.
Have you the same problem? How can i set 4G mode please?
Also 4G toogle from B380 isn´t available. It seems that B511 does not support 4G networks.

I'm on B511 too (upgraded from B390) and I confirm the same options you see at the screenshot. But, if you close the popup you can see it reports:
"Preferred network mode: 4G/3G/2G"
The 4G works for me as far as the status bar network indicator is valid. Also, the notification panel 4G toggler is missing.

Yes, it true. But if you choose another option from the menu, there is no way how to get back to 4g.
This is what I made yesterday

If your phone is rooted you may try to add these options manually by editing settings.db -> systemex -> hw_networkmode_preference. You may add values which mean:
9 is for gsm/wcdma/lte
3 - gsm/wcdma
11 - lte only
2 - wcdma only
1 - gsm only
12 - wcdma/lte
At least it works on emui 3.0. I've added "wcdma/lte" option that way.

no root

This method works on my phone (B511 H60 L04 root)

You can try an "4G toggler" or "2G - 3G - 4G switcher" app from Play Store. There are plenty of them.

Hello,
it does not work. All of these apps only open phone network settings.

Sorry man. That seems to be the only major flaw of B511. Also, it seems it does not support LTE Cat 6 (4G+).
I'm waiting for the official European release. Until then I'll enjoy the battery life of B511.

No 4G on Honor 6 after update
I also had the same problem
I just factory reset my phone and the problem was solved.
You may also try this it may also work for you too.
Dont forget to backup Your date before resetting.
thanks.

Multiple missing menu in service mode, Possible ways to enable

Coming from SGS where I could select WCDMA/GSM in the Settings>Mobile Network
or through *#301279# and select HSDPA/GSM mode
I find it bit annoying not to be able to
1. switch off 3G mode when not neeeded so as to conserve battery.
2. preferentially select wcdma/3G mode in slightly weaker 3G areas for faster net.
Though it is understandable to an extent missing menu in UI customized by/for ATT
But it surprises me how the *#301279# menu is also disabled.
Also number of menus in service mode are also disabled (menu does not exist).
Is there a way we can re-enable these?
Can we push "service mode 2.2.1" from some other device (e.g. backed up through titanium etc and restored over the one in infuse.)
(There is no Q&A section and this is more than general query so I have put it in dev section. I apologize if I was wrong.)
Try *#*#4636#*#*
Then choose "phone information"
there you'll find the option to choose the preferred network type.
I assume this is what you are looking for?
Already tried that.
The option to choose band is there but this does not stay, in fact it is not getting executed. Immediately after setting without even reboot if we go back to the menu *#*#4636#*#* it has reverted to wcdma/gsm auto prl.
In galaxy s and galaxy s2, there is a option in mobile network settings, and also your suggested method holds. Also *#301279# takes us to selection for hspa version.
Is there some apk like wireless teether manager which if frozen could allow internal android menu to work.
Or we need to push service mode from galaxy s...
I am not a developer and not confident to risk a brick... Wish someone with knowledge about these to look into this.

You should definitely risk a brick. Why else would you be at xda?
I personally would ADB pull the backup from the infuse while in recovery and push the new from SGS rom. That way if you bootloop, you can adb reboot recovery, possibly get a recovery reboot and then push the original back.
Keep us posted.
*#*#4636#*#* does hold i have been on wcdma only for days now after going in and making the changes press the home key not back if you press back it reverts back to auto by pressing home i got it to stay

You could also try the *#0011# menu.
Then press the menu key and press back. Then press menu and choose "phone control" then press either "network control" or "hspa cat control".
This should be what you're looking for, if not, I'm sorry.

att disabled this feature on all their phone, it' working on SGS cus you using a uk/europe rom.
the only way it will work on infuse is someone make a custom kernel for it. or wait for canada version of infuse.

Thanks for the encouragement... I took a plunge and atleast concluded few things in process.
I pushed service mode from Galaxy S in number of ways, .apk pull and push, titanium backup and restore, supermanager backup and push.
But Service mode>>Debug Screen>>Phone Control>>Network control Has missing [4]-----, which in SGS is service acusition order,
Also RRC(HSPA) control sows menu does not exist.
But at this moment it Struck me, What I am pushing is the UI and commands/codes but the menu has to exist on the ROM...
And in this case The RADIO ROM or the baseband. Probably samsung has modified basebands for ATT thats why we may never be able to get full choice on choosing 2g/3gNetwork (not data)
I found switching to 2g network helped battery life big time while in my work. Only to switch back to 3g network when I needed data/vedio call.
Screen Shots show how convenient it is in Samsung Galaxy S and S2.
So for the sake of More Juice from battery Lets hunt....
Have you tried *#2263#. You can switch between gsm/wcdma band easily. I've tested myself to keep my phone stuck to 3g in weaker reception areas.
Yes that is one way of doing it, In fact I created Contact entry By name 0f "2g3g" with that code in. Look at the screen shots in my earlier post Wish there could be this menu...

[Q] Need help on the Market App and 2g/3g switch on unlocked Atrix-2

Hi experts,
I got an unlocked Atrix-2 thro' a friend, two days back. Phone is great and working nicely (in BSNL network in India). Everything about the phone and android is great. I have two problems.
1st Prob:- Whoever unlocked the phone, has used his google (and market) account. So, I'm unable to access market.android.com and so no app downloads Deleting that guy's account can only be done by factory resetting the phone (so says the phone). My Question is "if I factory reset my Atrix-2, will the phone get locked again? OR is there anyway I can delink the other market account from my phone ?"
2nd Prob:- As BSNL's 3G coverage is scattered (yes we are still at 3/3.5G and not 4G in India), I was primarily using 2G earlier. My old workhorse Nokia 5800XM (tears for ditching it) allowed me to switch between 2G/3G/Dual modes. My new Atrix-2 doesn't give me an option. It tries to latch onto 3G (it shows 4G, whenever 3.5G signal is there), if not changes to 2G (it shows E - for Edge). Problem is, I drop calls, when going from 3G area to 2G area. Specially, some rooms in my house are hit and miss for 3G . Nothing changes by selecting network manually or automatically (Frustuuuuu). My Question is "how can I toggle between 2G & 3G ?". I saw a few apps in android market for this, but, pls remember I'm unable to log into the market using 'the market app', without the password of the guy who unlocked my Atrix 2. I request your valuable suggestions and help. Thanks in anticipation. And sorry for the looong question.
Go ahead and do a factory reset you will be fine.
Keep in mind when you delete that Google account it will delete all contacts associated with it also so if you want to keep them you need back them up another way before you remove that account.
As far as locking in in either 3G or 2G I dont see how that would help, the phone should be automatically searching and locking on the best signal available.
First time Android user, I am and with an unlocked phone. Bit reluctant now. One more advice like yours, and I'm game.
I'm concerned about 2g/3g switching, because where my 5800 XM held signal, Atrix-2 is loosing, due to lack of 3g and search time for 2g. And, Web pages wash out, if I'm opening a link. A big thanks.
Factory resetting worked . My Atrix-2 is still UNLOCKED and going great. Without advice from JRW 28, I wouldn't have given it a serious thought.
Regd 2G/3G:- Installed and tried about 5-6 apps from android market on "2G/3G switch". Atrix-2 doesn't allow them to go anywhere near. Anyone got solutions ? I'll live with the problem till BSNL improves the 3G coverage.
E is actually 3g on this phone I think. I've never gone down to Edge in the city.
My 2G/3G problem also got solved !
I installed an app called "network" by Philipp Mangelow (downloaded from market.android), and changed the 'preferred network type to 'GSM only".
Procedure is self explanatory, upon opening the app. It solved all my problems.
I needed to force the n/w to 2G (it says E), as the 3G signal strength in my:
house : -80dBm to -97dBm (settings -- about phone --- status).
office : -60dBm to no signal. As you all know, every 3dBm less signal means that half the strength of earlier value.
Whereas 2G signal strength is at least 10 to 15 dBm better than 3G strength.
So poor Atrix-2 kept hunting for signal (me not knowing) and draining battery (though this served my battery conditioning purpose). Now that both my problems are sorted out, I've become a happy Moto-A2 user.
So, anyone residing in India, with an unlocked Moto-A2, can safely "factory reset" the phone (IF needed), use above network app, and enjoy the A2 happily, for a longer battery life. Thanks everyone.
You can also Update
you can also update the phone wiithout it loosing your unlock. I did that with an Unlocked ATT i bought from amazon and carried to Venezuela, after i got it, i hit the update button, and it upgraded OTA, restarted, and still unlocked.
thanks a ton buddy:.. these stupid at&t people switched off the 2g network and locked the option to change it...

Hi, I have an Atrix 2 MB865 unlocked and on the CLARO network in Nicaragua. In settings it says I have EDGE as my mobile network type. I have an E and full bars on the top of my phone. I can use voice and texts but can't use the Internet; 'Web page is not available'. If I install the app called "network" by Philipp Mangelow (downloaded from market.android), and change the 'preferred network type to 'GSM only" Do you think it will solve my problem?
THANKS!!
sounds like you need to check your apn settings
Enable "2G or 3G"
I don't know if you (vijay_968) need help yet but case someone need enable just 2G or 3G, I know how to do it.
Your A2 need be rooted!
Open /system/etc/motorola/com.android.phone/defaults.xml and change this key:
Original:
Code:
<boolean name='network_select_menu' value='[B]false[/B]' />
Changed:
Code:
<boolean name='network_select_menu' value='[B]true[/B]' />
Save the file and delete the backup file with .bak extension (/system/etc/motorola/com.android.phone/defaults.xml.bak). Some file's explorer don't show hidden files. Check the program configs.
Repeat the step 2 and 3 with these files:
/data/data/com.android.phone/shared_prefs/_has_set_default_values.xml
/data/data/com.android.phone/shared_prefs/Settings.xml
Make a copy of "com.android.phone_preferences.xml" in the same folder with the name "com.android.phone_preferences.xml.bak" and repeat the step 2 and 3
You need delete "com.android.phone_preferences.xml.bak.bak"!!
Reboot...
Now, if you go "Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile networks > Select network" you can select 2G or 3G only.

That would be a fantastic feature to have easily accessible!
I'm trying to modify the files in the way you said, but even though I've found the files I'm unable to edit them, how did you go about that?
Did you have to pull them from the phone, edit, and put back.
Or were you able to edit them with an app directly on the phone?

LG Flex 2 Sprint LS996 unlocked to work outside USA over GSM/WCDMA

Hi all,
Well i saw a lot of threads about how to unlock the Sprint LS996 flex 2 and a lot of strange explanations that the phone is locked on the hardware level, It's a lot of bull***
I just bought this phone from Ebay for only 280$ and it took me less that a hour to make it work in Israel (Hot-Mobile) 3G GSM/WCDMA network. (the LTE band are different than in USA so it can't be enabled due to hardware limitations)
This will only work on Android 5.0.1, who already did the upgrade to 5.1.1 should wait till approve of root method or
can try KingRoot application (Chinese developer and UI) and let me know if it's working. I did not used this app so can't really approve that it works.
5.1.1 Root (experimental):
Explain Video about KingRoot method: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QicDqTKb_sU
5.0.1 Root:
I'm used this method for rooting G flex: http://www.smartphoneclinics.com/easy-one-click-root-lg-flex2-sprint-ls996/ (worked flawless)
SimUnlock:
After successful rooting and restarting the phone I've used this post for enable SIMUNLOCK (seem the db/obb files from G3 but they worked on my Flex 2): http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-flex2/help/managed-to-gsm-ls996-awaited-apn-t3090484
Did exactly what it says and used the files that attached to the thread. After restarting the phone Inserted the simcard and restarted the phone again, (I love restarts )
the network should change to "No Service" Instead of "Invalid SIM" or something like that before the obb/db file change.
Roaming Enable:
After you see "No service" you almost there
Go to Settings > Network > More > Mobile Networks > Network Mode and choose "Global"
Don't forget to add APN manually, you need to use WIFI for downloading applications like "Shortcut master lite" because there is no Mobile data... yet
APN setup:
Install Shortcut master lite click and hold the recent apps button and click "Search"
Search for apn select com.andoird.settings$ApnSettingsActivity and then click Launch / homescreen
Select on the Top Right new apn
Fill this form out with the apn from your provider (If you don't know the apn look it up in google APN settings for your provider).
Restart the Phone and let 1-2 min to the phone connect to your Mobile Provider
Let me know if this worked to you as well and press "thank's" button for me and "tomtam" that wrote the original post.
Actually after the root I manually de-bloated the phone using Root Uninstall and it's just amazing phone,
without any lag what so ever and i get Over 50K in Antutu 64bit. I'm trying to find a way to use custom recovery and i feel that i
found a workaround for that using TWRP Manager and Busy box..... (It's for different thread )

well lets get to it then it to much of a waste not having a custom recovery etc...maybe maybe a recovery using g3 bump would still work...
I did everything as you did for LS996 GSM unlock. I also enabled the LTE band 4 and it is working perfectly in my country, see: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-flex2/general/how-to-enable-lte-bands-band-4-1700-t3097409.
To change apn simply install this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.appando.app.changeApn&hl=en. This app does not require root.
Use greenify app to control some apps resource use and freeze LG MLT service, just doing these steps you improve battery a lot.
Finally use any kernel control application as Trickster Mod to change scheduler to row from noop and set governor to interactive, don't forget to set changes at boot.
Enjoy your network unlocked, 4G capable and snappy flagship for only 200 bucks.

I believe this may be limitation. In the network mode option there is automatic, LTS/CDMA,CDMA and GSM/UMTS. I am thinking if you select LTE the phone will try to use CDMA for voice. So if your using A GSM network it wont work. There needs to be a option that says LTE/GSM.
No APN option.

Hello, I just bought a 2nd hand LG G Flex 2 for around $100 USD in Nepal. It is a USA Sprint model but unlocked. I checked the imei and its clean. It is already rooted and no sprint apps are present. Calls and sms are working good but there is no option of APN inside mobile networks. So i am unable to use data connection. Is there anyway i can enable it? And also the call volume via earpiece sounds a little low. Thanks in advance.

Jio Network Issue Finally Solved

Almost all JIO users have one issue in common and that is network fluctuation issue. Although JIO has made it possible for everyone to use high-speed 4G data at a very lower cost, however, signal drops too frequently due to which it is sometimes very hard to use the full potential of JIO.
So, today I am going to explain why JIO networks are not stable and how to solve this issue.
The reason why JIO network is not stable:
In order to provide seamless service, JIO has 3 LTE bands which are Band 3, 5 and 40
Band 3 provides the best coverage while Band 40 provides the best speed (But the most unstable band too).
By default, all these 3 bands are active all the time and they keep clashing with each other to become the primary band.
Most of the users have noticed quick battery draining issue after switching to JIO. It's because of this "Clash Of Bands".
How to solve the network fluctuation issue:
I have tried almost all possible methods shown on Google or Youtube. But none of them worked, as you already know. So, I have done some deep research as to why exactly JIO network is not stable. And as soon as I realised the actual reason, I knew what to do. And finally, I found something that solved my problem. So, if you want to solve your JIO network issue too, follow below-mentioned steps carefully. It will also improve your device's battery life.
Steps to follow:
1. Go to Google Play Store and install an app called "Network Signal Guru"
2. Open the app and give it root access.
3. Next, click on the 3 dots menu at the top right corner.
4. Click on "Lock RAT" and select "LTE" from the options.
5. Now again click on 3 dots menu and this time select "Lock Bands" and then "LTE"
6. Now deselect all bands and select only B3 and B5 and click on "OK"
7. Leave the app in the background and don't remove it from recents.
Now, as soon as you follow my steps, you would see a sudden change in the network. It will ofcourse not change the network from 1 bar to the fullest, but you will definitely see the improvement. The reason why I left B40 (even though it has the best internet speed) is because of its instability. There's no point of keeping Band 40 without getting stable network coverage. Band 3 and 5 are more than capable of giving you high-speed internet.
I shared this method with a few of my close friends and it never failed. So I thought of sharing it with all XDA members so that they can also take benefit of it. If you like and appreciate my help, please encourage me by hitting "Thanks" and I will bring more posts like this.
N.B. I am no way related to Network Signal Guru app. And I am not sharing the app link as it is not my property. Please search and install the app on your own.
Yes it worked. Thank you so much.
worked for vodafone as well.

I wish if is there anything without root access
Ótima dica! Good information! Thank you. Regards.

This is because of unchecking B40.

You know, I did and noticed the same thing but didn't think much of it.
I found that traveling the freeways, calls and network connection would drop. Additionally, I had found that I would loose connection when the phone went into a power saving mode like dose ( after the phone sits unused for for a while).
At this point, I've got it figured that Xiaomi doesn't have the radio kernel optimized or exempted for the doze function, and the cellular to cellular handoff may be an issue with a proprietary kernel or algorithm that that Xiaomi hasn't purchased the rights to.
Good find. For me, Band 3 was the problem (Vodafone Australia) - Band 1 and 5 are working well without fluctuation. But it's annoying to have a background app running.
I've been trying to find how the stock ROM differs from e.g. RR at the filesystem level to try and find any kind of configuration to make this permanent, but haven't found anything.
If anyone has any leads, do share.

I really hope that you or some other developer will find out the solution for signal fluctuation on custom roms. This is the main reason I am still on stock rom.
Problem solve for me
Hi EveryOne, as we had the experience of network dropping issues such as switching bands automatically, now my phone is working perfectly well. I'm using redmi note 3 phone and had changed the pcb board of this phone and i find that the problem is gone forever.
Working amazingly for me. Thanks man, B40 was the issue for me. Also, does the app need to run in background all the time?
Thanks for the great info ? but are there separate settings for both the sims?

Brute force 4g/lte

Do anyone knows how to brute Force 4g ?
I live in an area where I know that my phone can get LTE but for some reason he stays on 3g. With my OnePlus 3 I had an app which gave me access to a hidden menu (same menu as *#*#4636#*#*) where I could select "LTE ONLY" and this would make the phone to switch to LTE. Anyway, just after the launch of the OP6 I installed the same app and did as usual and it just broke the LTE connectivity for a week or two before OnePlus released a proper fix. But alongside fixing this LTE connectivity issue they also disabled this useful menu.
Do you guys have any replacement idea for it ? I've been searching for it since but I couldn't find anything.
play store->4G switcher (by Cracky)
Start the app, and set the preferred network type to LTE. This way you won't be able to get called (unless your network supports VoLTE), but the network stays on LTE. You can switch back, but can be buggy, the best way to switch back is to restart the phone.

Thanks but this is exactly the app I was talking about and this menu doesn't seem to do anything with my OP6 so I am searching for an alternative.
There's an app called shortcut master lite. Download & install it. Open the app, from the menu select search. Type "engineering"
Launch the 1st result. You can also mark it as favourite and keep it on main page of the app.
When you launch the search result 1, do this:
- network set, sim card select, <sim1/2> & come back and tap on rat mode, choose lte only.
This sim will not catch any signal when there's no lte coverage.
Thank you for your answer, I'll check that but if anyone have the same issue as me with the other app I found the solution reading your message. My sim was on the slot 2 and this is why the menu wasn't working but in slot 1 everything works fine.
Hi, I can access that menu. I was able to fo that on 5.1.9 and DP3 also
What I can recommend for you is to clean install of 5.1.9 via fastboot. Here in op6 forums there is a thread, of fastboot rom, so flash it. Just read instructions there, very easy.
I bet 99.9% that it will solve menu problem and LTE in global.
