Playing games in landscape without getting interrupted - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Like the topic says i want to play games in landscape mode (Clash of clans for example) without getting notifications and calls.
Something identical like ios's do not disturb function where i can play games without getting calls and notifications.
And another thing is can I rotate videos on browser(default and chorme) without using the auto-rotation function? Like ios where i can rotate the screen to the left/right. Because i usually watch videos while in sleeping position.
Thanks

pretty sure you can use tasker to automatically turn on do not disturb whenever you play your game, and turn it back off when you're done

Do not disturb doesn't even work. When i play games calls and notifications still get through. This is getting annoying many times.

Airplane mode?

the game i playing requires mobile data connection.
I've been googling so many hours and i still haven't find a true solution. I manage to find Tasker able to *block calls* but not in game, just when i open the app. trying to configure this **** out

But won't you feel at least a LITTLE guilty if someone keeps trying to call or text you over and over with some urgent information but you were busy clashing with some other clan?

[App] Wave Control - Use the light sensor to control your phone!

Just found this app and it is one of the most amazing things I've ever experienced. It can use the light sensor to control music playback and call options. It is limited and buggy but it works well.
Block light - play/pause
Wave once - play next
Wave twice - play previous
Wave thrice - enable/disable

Glad you like it!
Let me know if there are any features you want to see.
Oh and what kind of bugs are you experiencing?

Oh is this your app?! If so I really enjoy it so far.
Stone things I've had issues with is getting the three waves to work. I've tried it inside and outside the app. Also, I have no idea how the pocket mode works, could you explain how to properly use it? And would it be possible to add a confirmation on closing the app?
Edit: this is your app! Great work. I just got the three wave to work, takes a bit getting used to. And maybe an idea for a feature, but would you think adding a sound notification for when gestures are detected? Like a Facebook pop sound when it detects a single wave, a double pop for a two wave gesture, etc?

I just downloaded the app this morning great work, and I agree some notification would be great

That's a great idea! I'll see about adding it.
Pocket Mode only doesn't allow the controls to get enabled without the screen on and app in foreground. You still need to disable it before putting your phone in your pocket.
Some people had asked for it since they left the app running and even though the controls were disable when walking the 3 wave gesture would get triggered just by their phone moving in their pocket and re-enable and start playing music and skipping around like crazy.

Oh well that makes sense, I've just been putting in my pocket while a song was on so it would turn off. Since my jeans area pretty slim I haven't had those issues. I'm enjoying the new update, especially since it won't accidentally close on me. An issue that I have been encountering is that the app will so recognizing gestures after about 10-15 minutes of the screen off. I have to relaunch it to get it recognizing again. I'm curious about the pro features and I'm amost ready to purchase it but would like to see this issue fixed along with an optional sound notification. Also, would it be possible to implement launching the app with a long hold of search button? I have a shortcut on my home screen because I've been using it a lot and this would make it more convenient. If you put that in pro then I'm in.
Edit: oh and maybe add an Upton for which app it can control?

Playing games without interruptions

Im currently having a dilemma
Im trying to play games like clash of clans for example that requires constant internet connection without interruptions like phone calls and notifications. Is there any solution? Been trying to find an app or function to fix this.
Of course most of you all would say you could disable the notification for a certain app (whatsapp for example) but that's not what im trying to find. Im trying to find a "gaming mode" lol
Running on 5.0.2 S6
Going to root...soon. Just not now
Thanks
Yeah you can partially stop some interruptions just as i do.
Try greenify app (requires root) and greenify all apps that are threat to clash of clans . As for calls, i don't think there's a solution but to immediately switch to clash of clans without disconnecting call. That's how i save myself from getting 0 stars.

Android Lollipop features a kind of "do not disturb" mode. When you press the volume rocker the volume bar will appear on the screen. Immediately below it should be 2 or 3 buttons. Try pressing them.

Notifications when playing a video or listening music paused

Hi all,
In my last experience with S5 I didn't have this issue. And I think is annoying because I can't watch a video normally which means every time a whatsapp notification comes the video enters in pause mode for a while. Is there any special configuration to avoid this? Actually I'm using this app "Don't Pause!" but as I mentioned this is not a normal behavior. In the past I didn't need an extra app to handle this.
Thanks in advance.

Any idea? In addition to this concers, this happens when no headphones, just speaker
Did you get a solution? Im having the exact same problem.
Have you tried not to disturb
Yes I have tried DND mode and incredibly it still does not work. I managed to find sort of a solution. I disabled pop up notifications, so now whenever I get a messagw the phone still vibrates, but it doesnt show on screen and video isnt paused. I didnt have this problem at all on my S6, I dont know why it happens on S7 though.

Best Virtual Assistant for just basic phone usage (nothing fancy).

I have an LG G4 and I'd mainly like to be able to double tap a volume key while my phone is in the holster and then via blue tooth headset make phone calls and create and read SMS. I don't want to use gestures or voice commands to initiate my interaction. I just feel they drain your battery way too much. Even shaking means the sensors are constantly being monitored. I just want to double tap the buttons to activate, even if that means using multiple apps to take control of those functions. I'm just a minimalist when it comes to things that are constantly eating CPU cycles and such.
I don't really need to do anything with movies or trivia... I mean a google search here or there would be nice. Maybe tell it to launch a maps program or something wouldn't be bad.
I really just mainly want to make phone calls and create and read text messages so I can do these things hands free. I'd like to do this for driving as well as I'm a bee keeper and it would be very convenient to do these things fairly hands free while I've got my hands in the bees.
Thanks in advance and I look forward to hearing people's opinions,
Gilligan

I was going to do that... I just didn't want to activate something that was too intensive and not be able to really shut it down. You know how they are, they seem to take over and never stop running once you activate them.
Everything I kept reading about Google was how it can help you watch TV and other crazy things that I can't see how anyone would need a voice assistant to do.
I mean, why do they have 3rd party apps if Google can "do it all"?

WhatsApp ignores "Do Not Disturb": ideas for workarounds

It's been noted before that WhatsApp ignores DND, leading to intrusive interruptions. For example I use my mobile as webcam for Zoom and Skype calls from the PC (whose webcam is broken) and every time a WhatsApp notif comes it, it stops the video in Skype or Zoom.
I scanned forums for workarounds but didn't find a one-click solution.
Thought I'd share what I've settled in so far, and ask if others are using other methods.
I use Nova Launcher. Nova has a widget type called Nova Activities. Using that, I placed a button on my screen that launches Settings / App notifications. WhatsApp is usually on the first page, and can be turned off in one touch (so two touches total), which I do before Skype or Zoom calls. Just have to remember to enable later.
Rejected solution: saw an app in the Play Store but it wants to create a VPN and (i) don't want to create one on top of AdGuard, (ii) don't want to entrust my traffic to an unknown entity.

You're talking about using the macrodroid app from the Play store to kill WhatsApp overnight, right? Interesting, I didn't know about macrodroid, looks easier to configure than Tasker.
That said, what I'm going for is an easy way to kill WhatsApp notifications while I'm on a Zoom or Skype call, and to turn them back on after the call. The only quick solution I've found so far is this "Nova activity" button.
@jaggillararla tried Macrodroid, really like the interface, great way to create macros. It looks like some options would work, like killing WhatsApp or disabling its notifications when either silent mode or DND are turned on. Sadly at the moment these triggers are not working on my device (which is rooted).
But in the meantime I realized that just going on Airplane mode should do exactly what I need! Duh. In airplane mode, the webcam software still communicates with my PC. That's probably the easiest trick for me, if it works.
Thank you very much for your thoughts, hope I can get Macrodroid to work for something else.
EDIT: these two macros seem to do the trick:
- IvCam ON → Airplane Mode ON
- InCam OFF → Airplane Mode OFF
