So a while ago EMUI 3.0 came out, at first i was afraid of updating to it since my phone was rooted.
But today i finally got the nerves to do it, uh oh, what? My phone is modified? oh well screw that, i will continue updating. So i updated my phone, and when it restarted, the phone didnt change at all, and it said that my update failed. I later tried a update from the SD and had no luck. I think it is something to do with the root and the unlocked bootloader, so i unrooted my phone but i dont know how to relock my bootloader. IS there any way i can upgrade to EMUI 3.0?

I bought a sim-locked xperia x10 with android 2.3.x installed, but couldnt use it due to the fact it was locked. So i decided to give it to a "cellphone-shop" to let them unlock it for me. They did but now the android version is 2.1. 1-update or something like this.
So my question is: Can i update the phone via pc companion and it stays unlocked or will it be locked again after i updated it to 2.3.x again??
Thanks in advance
i updated no problem, after the update it was still unlocked.
good luck
yeah, but the guy there told me not do update it, the reason why i asked is that this guy didnt really seem to know what he was talking about, still he told me that it would be locked again after an update, so i need to be sure before i really update, would be nice if someone could ensure me that its not gonna be locked again after the update, maybe yours was unlocked in a different way than mine......
but still, thanks for the answer^^
plus, i dont think that my phone was unlocked via a code.........but i'm not sure!
is there anyone who can tell my why or why not it will be locked again after the update?
i'm not clear about your question...you mean unlock bootloader or sim?
im talking about a sim-unlocked phone (was unlocked by a shop and i dont know how they did it), i dont want to unlock the bootloader, i just want to know if it will be sim locked again after an update to android 2.3.x from 2.1. 1-update or not, but i want to be sure, i really want to avoid updating and again having a useless up to date phone
also the guy who originally sold me the phone told me that he unlocked it and before he actually sold me the phone, updated the software, when i got the phone i couldn use it with my sim-card...it was locked again, but he told me that he could use the phone with two different sim-cards from two different providers even after the update, but the phone simply didnt take my sim-card (3rd other provider).....i just dont know^^
It's my understanding that once your phone is unlocked it can't be locked again. My advice is to do the update and if it's locked again kick that dude in the throat for failing.
well, if its locked again and i tell that dude that he failed, he will say that he told me not to update it and kick my ass for complaining xD
i mean i would do that if i tell somebody not to do something he then does and afterwards complains about it.....
is there noone who can tell me for sure if it will be locked again or not?
OK, i finally did the update and it remained unlocked......NIIIICE
This morning i finally relented and installed the 4.4 update (kitkat?) on my droid razr maxx hd. now im stuck at the red M motorola splash screen thing. is there any way i can fix this? I went to verizon and they wouldent do anything for me. I need my phone for work every day so help is greatly appreciated. i also tried the power volume down to restore factory settings or whatever but it just goes to the M screen forever. the only thing that DOES come up from those menus is ap fast boot. not sure if thats helpful or not. PS im new to this stuff so noob friendly responses please!
Were you rooted at all? Did you modify your system in any way (froze or uninstalled stock apps)? If so, that's why.

That's your issue. You can't do an OTA after you've rooted since the OTA does a verification to ensure the system isn't modified in any way.
Go to the link I posted in my previous reply to you to get yourself updated to Kit Kat and then unlock you bootloader if you haven't since the KK update put the bootloader exploit back in.
ok

could you link me to the root/unlock tutorial for my phone? sorry im noob XD
Just to be sure, you didn't update to the latest soak that just came out, correct? You are on the previous Kit Kat OTA right?
If you haven't applied the latest soak (183.46.10.XT926), then you are golden and can unlock. ONLY apply the soak update AFTER you've unlocked your bootloader.
no

You should have just ignored the update until after you unlocked the phone. The link I sent you to was meant to get you updated to KK before the 183.46.10 update. The previous KK update allowed you to unlock your bootloader. Now, that is no longer possible. There is no way to downgrade to a previous version. Once the ability to unlock has been patched, you cannot go back and try to unlock it.
You can still root the phone, though. Search for towelroot and you can install that and run it to root your device.
One thing you could try is once you've rooted, try running Motopocalypse to see if it will unlock your bootloader. Either it will or it won't. It won't hurt your phone in any way or brick it.
lame...

WHOA! WHOA! WHOA! My bad. You should be okay to unlock!
Please go here and attempt it -> http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/topic/46155-rootunlock-442-182183-razr-hdm-only/
Get Towelroot and run it. This should root your phone -> http://www.towelroot.com/
Next, get the motopocalypse apk from here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53428225&postcount=22
Install and run that on your phone. That should then unlock your bootloader.
So, you are fine. I completely brain farted that the soak test hasn't been sent to everyone. It is available to download and install, but don't do it yet.
PLEASE go and unlock your phone. I'm so sorry for the confusion.
Let me know how it goes!

No, that is the version you CAN unlock. At first, it was believed it couldn't happen, but someone discovered that Moto had accidentally added the bootloader unlock exploit back in with the KK release. It's the version after that, which hasn't been released yet but will be soon, that patches the exploit back up to no allow it. The zip file for it is available outside of the soak test so it hasn't been sent to you. What you took was the OTA you do want which does allow unlocking.
Please, go unlock your phone now before the OTA is released and then you'll be forever locked.
Go here to unlock it -> http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/topic/46155-rootunlock-442-182183-razr-hdm-only/
Do it now before you do anything else. Do NOT apply the soak test OTA (which is available via a media fire link from SamuriHL) until you've unlocked your phone.
done
Rooted and unlocked. Very happy about it. But now what? What can I get with bootloader unlocked besides revert to jb?
I still need to get my WiFi tether app to work. I'm grandfathered into unlimited data so my phone is basically my internet. Are there any cool ROMs where the WiFi just works with no tricks or work a rounds?
I didn't know that there was a root workaround found for 183.46.10 so I foolishly updated to 183.46.15. I've had this phone since 4.1.2 so will a factory reset take me back to 4.1.2? Otherwise will RSD Lite help me? (I'm really sorry for being so ignorant about these things and asking questions that I'm sure are dumb)

Unless you unlocked your bootloader, you have NO way to go back to a previous version nor can you root. There is no way to unlock the bootloader once you've taken to .15 OTA.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but once you took the .15 OTA, you lost all access to root and unlock the bootloader. There is no going back. Your only hope is if someone discovers a new security flaw that can be exploited to gain root access, but since this is a 2-year-old phone, I wouldn't hold my breath.

What if I accidentally updated to 183.46.15 but my bootloader is unlocked? I was fully rooted with unlock on the 4.1.2 bootloader, but wanted to update so I could flash the new CM11 builds, but I too foolishly took the .15 OTA after installing .10. I just can't seem to find a way to roll back to .10 or flash a recovery now...

You're fine. Once unlocked, always unlocked. Just flash root and you're good to go.
The unlocking of the bootloader on this phone is a physical change, not a software change. Basically, something called an efuse was blown. Hence just like with the old fashioned fuses from a long time ago in a house far far away, once they blow, you have to physically take them out and replace them with a new one. In the case of the phone, you can't really do that without putting in an entirely new motherboard. Hence, once unlocked, always unlocked. They can't lock it back up since it was a physical change on the phone itself.

As long as your bootloader is unlocked, yes. Then, you can flash root.
You need to use the correct recovery that is based on the KK bootloader.
Most are using TWRP as their custom recovery. You can get it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53245455&postcount=1
Flash that and then boot into recovery and flash the latest SuperSU:

Is there a way to know if I have boot loader unlocked ?
boot into fastboot, read message displayed on your screen
About a year ago, I had to send my phone away because I screwed up and put the wrong ROM on my phone. When I got it back, my bootloader is still "Unlocked" (ie. the lock is OPEN when I turn on my phone). However, I am running stock OTA update. I have not done anything, so I am out of date as to what is going on with the new locking/bricking etc.
From what I have read, if you took the OTA update, you can no longer flash any new ROMs, reguardless of what the lock shows? Am I correct in my assumptions?
Thanks
