Before reading - *** Found my own solution - Thanks for reading. Solution was that I didn't even have to unlock boatloader and just flashed using Clockwork Recovery. Please disregard question, sorry for wasting your time.
Question was:
I'm running stock KK 4.4.2. Rooted. Backed up using Titanium.
I want to flash Blisspop but I cannot find a step by step guide anywhere so decided to attack it in parts, beginning with unlocking the bootloader. Only instructions I found were for older versions of Android.
I really did search, for hours and hours before coming here.
My questions:
What is the easiest, most foolproof way for a relative noob like me to unlock the bootloader?
Do I have to actually flash Clockwork Mod recovery or is there an easier way?
Do any instructions for the GT-N8013 apply equally to the 8010? - or are there fundamental differences in firmware?
Once I've unlocked the bootloader, is there a step by step guide to custom ROM installation for dummies like me running 4.4.2 on the Note 8010?
Thanks and apologies if I've missed something obvious during my hours of searching.

Been researching the unlock/rooting process for my TF300T and have a few questions. I have the 4.1.1 bootloader.
So the process appears to be:
unlock
flash recovery (for 4.1.1)
backup
flash custom rom
1) Should I upgrade to 4.2.1 first? Seems like not as I have read the unlock process is sketchy on 4.2.1. But many of the ROM's only work if you have 4.2.1, so is there a process for updating to 4.2.1 AFTER unlocking and installing a recovery?
2) Getting root seems to be a separate step on this tablet that I do not understand very well. The phones that I have rooted have always obtained root through a custom ROM, but the threads I read here seem to refer to getting root through a separate step. Can someone please clarify this for me as well?
3) Finally, this may be a preference thing, but it seems that for 4.2.1 TWRP is the only viable recovery. For 4.1.1 I can choose TWRP or CWM. Is there a reason for choosing one over the other? I have used both on my phones and been happy with both. I would default to TWRP since there seems to be issues with CWM on 4.2.1 unless someone else has a valid reason to consider CWM. May not be an issue depending upon response to #1 above.
Many thanks!
Hi y'all
Im a noob at this root and custom rom flash stuff but i did do the Casual root from beanstown which did root my device, and installed the team boot recovery my question is where do i get custom roms from and how do i install them and what is clockwork mod and can i use roms that say they require cwm?
First off you didn't mention if you have unlocked the bootloader which what Casual also can do and is required to flash anything through the custom recovery. Secondly CWM is also a custom recovery which you already have one in TWRP. There two sections of custom roms this one Android Development and this one Original Android Development . All rom threads have all the info you need including how to install the rom.
The best advice I would give you is to familiarize yourself with everything in the general and development threads here for your device.. Spend 2 or more weeks reading and learning. Read every thing, if you have questions search the threads for the answers using search function. Once you learn and understand it all it will make sense.

Hi Guys,
I don't know if this is the right section to post this question, I'm new in the forum.
I just kept my ex boyfriend tablet and now I'm experimenting with it, but I have a few questions:
If I want to use Odin to flash a custom kernel , let's say rj's Kernel, do I need to have the bootloader unlocked ?
How do I unlock the boot loader for Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 International version ?
Could you please help me Unlock the bootloader ? Could you please explain if I need the bootloader unlocked to install a custom kernel with ODIN ?
Do I need the bootloader unlocked to install a recovery and then do a Nandroid backup and then install a custom kernel ?
Device:
Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 - YP-G70 International version.

To flash a ROM or recovery and do a NAndroid backup you need an unlocked bootloader.
To unlock your bootloader, use this Windows program: http://www.mediafire.com/?f3gi19g1zz3frg3
I hope this helps you, but don't forget, with unlocking your bootloader, all your data will be erased!

well with this device im not sure if you need to unlock the bootloader. some need the bootloader unlocked some don't. i would ask in the official forums for the Player http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-player you need to tell them its international as well.
Thanks Guys, it has been really helpful.
Could you please let me know the name of the program I have to use to unlock the bootloader for this device?
I've been reading like crazy and I understood when I unlock all data will be lost, but that's not a problem at all.
Then I would like to flash rj's kernel which comes with Clockworkmod and then from there I would be interested in doing some Nandroid backups and installing cyanogenmod.
In fact I would like to be able to do a backup even before installing a custom kernel so I can preserve the original kernel and android, I installed an application called something like nandroid backup and I managed to do a backup compatible with clockworkmod but the thing is that it skipped the boot and recovery folders, so it makes me think the bootloader is locked.
Please any comments are very welcome.
If there is anyone here from Ft. Lauderdale we could even meet in a mall and do the thing together with the laptop.
Thanks again for all your help honeys

Like I said your going to want to hit up the official forums but I'm keeping a lookout for a way. There has to be a way if there's custom ROMs already
Howdy y'all. I bricked my old G2 D800, I don't want a repeat with the new one. I tried doing all the research I could. I have a new D800, 10d, 4.4.2. I want CM11, tried reading the threads on that and custom recovery. I just need a little help to make sure I have the order of operations down pat before I crash another. I've rooted and flashed ROMs before, but not with th locked boot loader and security AT&T has.
Please just correct me if I'm wrong. Through the threads I have read I believe this is what I am to do.
1.) Flash my 4.4.2 back to 4.2.2 using LG FT
2.) Root using IO23
3.) Download Flashify & install TWRP 2.7.7 with Loki
4.) Follow steps to install CM 10.2
5.) Follow steps to install CM 11
Of course make backup once 4.2.2 plus root and TWRP is achieved before trying CM. I just want CM like I've had on previous phones. Thanks in advance.
All is good back to being ROM junkie. Anyone who does read and wishes to flash custom roms and get custom recovery on KK. Obtain root via IOroot25, then use AutoRec Recovery Installer for TWRP recovery.
Hey everyone, I've been researching for days, trying to figure out how to Unlock my bootloader on a 4.2.2 OS d2vzw(Verizon SGS3) SCH-I535. it seems the only way I can start flashing new roms( specifically CM 12.1) is to install a custom recovery such as TWRP or CWM, but it locks up my recovery and I end up flashing the stock 4.2.2 over and over again. are there alternatives ways to flash roms? is it impossible to unlock my bootloader on a 4.2.2? is there a way I can downgrade my bootloader? help please nothing is working and I can't find current information....Thanks. :good:
