preferably to anyone that has had the Cubot one for longer than a month.
does the phone still work as you had hoped? its everything fine with it?
i have read alot of good things about this phone, and am interested in getting it, i currently have the iphone 4.
this will be my first 'clone phone'
just want to know if it still holds up after a while
thanks.
Hi, I've been using the cubot one for about 4 months.
It's a good phone but, to be honest, I don't know if new next phone will be a Chinese one again.
First of all you can appreciate a big difference in performance as compared to a branded phone with similar specs (the branded one performs better), which can may consider acceptable seen the huge difference in the price.
Problem is that the lack of performance has a big impact on the way you'll use the phone (compared to the way you wanted to use it)
Do you use your phone as alarm clock? Well tell your boss you may be late sometimes becuase the cubot one happens to switch off overnight (even with fully charged battery) time by time. It happenwd to me probably 5 times in 4 months!
Do you use to take pictures with your phone? Well, its probably best you get a pocket camera always with you. Resolution of photos with the cubot one is not bad (it's a reasonable 7Mpix)...when you can see them!!! If you use the flash, the result is a completely white photo, due, I guess, to a wrong timing shutter-flash. So no night photos. If you take pictures with plenty of natual light, well 4 out of 5 will be corrupeted in zero time and the result is "no thumbnail available". I've missed a lot of shots in this way.
I still have stock 4.2.1 rom (august 2013) and time by time phone freezes or goes to deep stand by (remove battery necessary), also periodically I find new apps installed without my permission!!!
My room uses embedded GOlauncher, it does not use stock android!
From reviews it seems you can use it to play heavy games, but I can't even play temple run, it becomes a stop motion like game.
I'm currently looking for a better rom, hoping that usage experience will improve.
My partner has the same phone with june 2014 4.2.1 rom, in her case it's stock android, and she has a bit less issues than I do, but she doesn't use the phone as "intensively" as I do either.
honor 6 Is it heats up
I would like to know if it heats up I'm talking about normal use are not playing
The only time heated up a little was when using google maps for about 54 minutes, that time it heated up, other than that it never gets hot in regular use. I don't play games so can't answer to that part.
Thank you

Thank you When you talk it feels cool ?And another question SpeakerHear you well you speak
Yes, other people listen very well when I talk, same other way. In hivoice it works very well too. With an ear speaker didn't tested yet, never used one.
The highest I've seen is 42 degrees..that is when playing asphalt 8 for some time when the mobile was on charge.. Otherwise the max has been 41 when I don't have fan or anything turned on in the room...and it gets back to normal temp really soon after we end intensive task..

everything is perfect with my 64gb T-mobile model except for this battery bug which i am assuming will be fixed when the next update will come out which should be soon i am guessing. nothing wrong with the hardware or software (lag, stutter, app crashing, restarting). The battery bug i hear can be fixed by turning off VoLTE and i think d/c the wifi.
it really is a solid solid phone

Depends on what you're used to. If you're coming from a phone that lags badly, the S6 will be an improvement. If you're coming from a very smooth phone like a Nexus 6, Z3, M8/M9, Moto X, it won't be as smooth. For example, a few days ago I was watching a Youtube video, I pressed the Home button, the home screen showed up but the icons/clock widget took a couple of seconds to show up. This hasn't happened again though.

That's the stupid Lollipop memory leak... Blame Google for that.

Tested the S6 Edge for over 1 week, on that one there is a specific issue with the touch keyboard sometimes being flaky for the '1' and 'a' keys to the side of the screen. Somehow to do with the Edge screen I think. No biggie. Other than that I did not experience any issue like heat nor LED. I did get a weird LTE/CDMA issue with my local SIM provider, but for now that is not an S6 issue imho. It does get fingerprint-dirty quickly, and the first minute scratch on the front screen is already there. Nothing serious for now.
FYI - I posted my detailed review in Dutch at Tweakers.net (same username).

thanks for the feedback...hope it stays like this...its a shame that CM roms will have many issues because there is only EXYNOS variant...
Having massive issues with mine, trying to get an exchange going. Massive lag, FCs, memory leak... I can't have Google Nav and Pandora going at the same time, Pandora just shuts down. Half the time I get lag as I try to dial out, and half of THOSE times, it just crashes the dialer.
Not to mention the annoying crap, like the "456" SMS from T-Mobile shows up under my girlfriend's name, for some reason.
T-Mobile was supposed to have a replacement out to me on 4/8, but UPS lost it. Lovely.

some guys reported some issues, some lags, FC but your phone seems a bit too much....its better to replace it with a new one...
I've had mine for over a week now, on T-mobile. Coming from a Nexus 5 that was plagued by the 5.0 memory leak for several months (finally got fixed for the most part in 5.1), I can definitely say this phone is suffering from the same symptoms. After a few days the phone will start to get laggy and some apps will close (only one that has closed so far has been Chrome -in my experience from the N5 and on this S6, the more you use the Chrome browser, the faster it happens). I check the memory stats and every time system is taking up 1.2-1.3 GB. Same problem as on the N5.
Hope they get it updated to 5.1 a lot sooner than Google updated the N5....I don't want to go through 6 months of this crap again. I'm hoping the huge install base will push them to release a 5.1 update quickly.
Mine showed up from T-Mobile on 4/2, so I'm nearly two weeks in at this point. So far, the only real disappointment has the battery life. I wouldn't call it bad at 18-20 hours, but I've had better. Wireless and quick charging has made it almost so easy to top it off, however, that I've not yet had to worry about it. So it may be a trade off, or it may be (as some suspect) a software issue that will be corrected either through an OTA or when roms start rolling in.
Yes, yes, it's possible to love a phone. Heck, you sleep next to it, don't you? Rate this thread to indicate your love for the Elephone S8, all things considered. A higher rating indicates that the Elephone S8 is an incredible phone that you enjoy tremendously. You love it.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
too much problem
I have no problems at all:
Fast speed (I don't play games)
64gb is enough for me (10gb in use)
4gb is enough for me
Usb-c audio jack adapter works well
YouTube works (I don't use Netflix)
I don't use Facebook (Facebook playback issue)
Camera works well with "Google camera app" ver. 7.0
Screen and body is perfect designed
Weight is normal
Finger sensor is fast
Operation system is clean
GPS works well with only GPS (don't use 4G/3G for navigation)
Listen Music over Bluetooth, it's important to first connect the device and then restart the music app
Wish a nice day
Much the same situation. S8 is my third and last Elephone. My S7 was fine and still is after passing on to my wife. I wanted the big 2K screen and the 21MP camera. I got the big beautiful display but basically a useless camera. The S8 is now my mini tablet used for web browsing, ebook reader, email and occasional Youtube and it works fine for that. I gave up on it as a carry around phone after trying to take a video of a baby turtle release while on vacation in Mexico, a "once in a lifetime experience". Unwatchable with the continual hunting for focus. I have replaced it as a phone with a 5 inch screen, Helio X20, 3GB, 32GB (with a 128GB SD card) Kodak phone and a 21 megapixel camera that actually works ! It is very disappointing that Elephone has not tried to fix the camera bug since last October and I doubt that an Oreo upgrade is at the top of anyone's list. I have not tried Google Camera 7.0 and will not bother because I have my very good replacement. Shame because I could have bought a very good 7 inch tablet for less money to do the same thing.
I have to say this phone has exceeded my expectations in every way.
* Battery life is amazing once you remove the spyware. 2-3 days of normal use for me, and that's with Life-360 on all the time. No idea how much SOT but I'd guess double my old Oneplus One..
* That screen .... I never get tired of it. Really the design as a whole is far above what I was expecting in a cheap phone.
* Fingerprint sensor is super fast and reliable
* The OS seems solid as a rock. I've seen no problems with calls, wifi or bluetooth, and it hasn't crashed on me once.
As for the supposed cons:
* No notification LED is no problem - just configure the NoLED app and it's brilliant.
* Likewise the camera seems fine on mine. I used Open Camera for a few minutes and it seems just the same as my old Oneplus.
* I don't see any of the video sync issues people talk about either. I don't use netflix so maybe that's still broken but ... look, it's 2018, get yourself a VPN and live free.
* If you're into action games the decacore CPU sucks down juice like there's no tomorrow. In fact, no today. But I don't play action games. A little Monument Valley 2 on the way to sleep maybe.
I expect this will be my daily driver for at least the next 2 years. Loving it.

How did you remove the Spyware?
I'm guessing you rooted your phone but your still using stock rom?
No need to root the phone, just install ADB and then https://forum.xda-developers.com/elephone-s8/how-to/beware-com-adups-fota-myapplication-t3741622

Does anyone screen suffer from bright spots that is more noticeable on white backgrounds?
The only problem I have is the WiFi.
I have a 50 mb connection. Near the router it's ok. But move any bit away and it's so slow. In the kitchen, I get 0mb. It's so frustrating.
On all of the other phones in the house, they have perfect wifi.
Is there any fix for this?
Other than this, the phone is really good
Hello XDA people,
I received the phone and would like to ask you some tips or thought about some questions.
I just plug in the phone for charge to 100% before power it on and customize, by customize i mean doing options preferencies, using adb and "FastBootTools", updates.....
I would like to know in witch order I should :
parameterize the phone before or after using XADBF ?
Doing updates if there's update ? before tweaking ? Put my sim card in it before or after ?
Some of you got trouble with MIUI 12 vs MIUI 11 ? Should i stay on MIUI
I read this week when i prepare my things before getting the phone, that i shouldn't touch "Gallery" and "Finddevice" ( don't know if a freez is ok ), is there others things i need to avoid ?
Thanx for your help.
Just for info, got a oneplus 3 with a screen who got "detached" , unglue and the amoled was turning purpple to black, couldn't find a low price for a screen (amoled), online, they sell LCD panel and thought i couldn't repair it with an lcd screen.... so for a week was looking for a new phone. This is my first xiaomi !
Does this thread still works today with the poco F2 pro if it is still safe to follow it or should i be aware. I know some release OS change some path or disable some tweaks. https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-cc9/how-to/packages-safe-to-remove-problems-t4006171
Thx for help !
OK so i did everything alone, as usual ^ ^ and for now so far so good. First impressions, i 'm not a fan of some MIUI things, like the fact that you can't for now disable the Finddevice, the "Shield Guard" (firewall) but others then that, works fine, got a straight line on my battery at night, no data on my back... will see in the future. Received OTA after tweakings, and connect my sim card, all good.
That straight line is for 30 mins
No there's a bug...... got 0% when i wake up everyday (no plane mode ). Got it on my oneplus 3 too for 4 years.Just doing my tweaking ,and options...
Will see tomorrow ; )
