I'm looking to root my ASUS MeMO Pad HD7 (Only reason I knew it was HD was the picture) The problem is that I'm not sure where to start. Normally I would look into the model number and Android Version. Neither of these are really all to helpful in this case. Okay, so I fibbed. The Android Version at least tells me that it's the 4.4.4; however, the Model Number is one of the most unique I've ever seen because of how generic it is,
Model Number: ASUS MeMO Pad 7 LTE
I rooted my old HTC Glacier no problems, Just rooted my Samsung Gear S yesterday, I know that right now the Galaxy S5 with the 5.0 OTA isn't available for root, but I was able to do some research with the model number, so it's not lack of trying on any of my devices.
Last, but not least; if it helps, My Memo Pad is From AT&T and connected to the AT&T network.
Thanks for looking!

Hello all!
I've been getting no where with this by searching the web, and I'm not getting any help from the 3 Samsung numbers that I've called.
So, I'm a T-mobile USA customer who owns a Samsung Vibrant, and the original Galaxy Tab 7. Once I saw the Tab 7.0 Plus and the Voice Call support I knew that I had to have it. I put off getting one because I heard that T-Mo was going to carry it, only to find out the T-Mo version doesn't have the voice calling.
So I've been doing research on the web and I have found the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus with the 2 product numbers, P6200 and P7560, but I can't figure out what the differences are. I can't find them on the same site to get a full side by side comparison.
Can anyone shed any light on this?
Thanks!
Reggie.
PS: Sorry if this is a noob question.
I have never seen the 7560 model number before, but that would be more consistent with a Galaxy Tab 10.1 variant.
GT-P6200 - International 3G
GT-P6210 - International wifi
??? (Something along the lines of SGH-Txxx) for T-Mobile
For the 10.1
GT-P7500 - International 3G
GT-P7510 - International wifi
I'm wondering what tablets out there that you can use as a Phone, even if they are hacked or need to be shipped overseas!
I used the original Galaxy Tab (7") as a phone (T-Mobile/USA) since late October 2010, but am looking to switch to a better/faster tablet phone. The Galaxy Tab I used was hacked by a guy who enabled the 'phone' function of it (used European firmware or something?)
I purchased the new Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus assuming that can be hacked to do it, unfortunately it cannot (Would need to buy an oversees model and ship it here)...
So what tablets allow this?
--I heard the Galaxy 8.9 might
--There's the new Galaxy Note and LG Vudo (spelling?), but those are only 5", a little small then what I'm used to
I'm not looking for Wifi calling, or 3rd party app calling, or VOIP calling, I'm talking GSM Calling (making a call from a SIM Card that supports voice + data)
I tried doing a Google search but it's a little hard finding accurate results with keywords like tablet/phone/gsm calls/etc
Hoping you experts out there might direct me in the right place
Broken in the Marketplace has a new Tab 7.0 that does it right out of the box. I can't remember the model number, but it's white and for AT&T I think

What do you mean Broken in the Marketplace? I'm not sure if I read that right, are you saying there is a tablet on AT&T that is capable of this out of the box?
I went to their website and didn't see anything :\
HTC Flyer 3G, but needs to be hacked.

I don't think it's from AT&T directly, but it is 3G-band compatible with their service.
Broken's For Sale thread is here.
Hope you can work something out
Thanks for the feedback and providing that link! The HTC Flyer looks decent, wish it had better specs (Dual core)... and that link to the Broken's for Sale, unfortunately I don't have 10 posts yet, so gotta wait it out!
Also wondering the same thing. I'm looking for a tablet i can just stick my T-mob sim in and use as a phone. no extra plan or anything. I have an android plan on it already.

If you find anything let me know So far I've only seen 1 or 2 options :\ I was debating getting the Sony Tablet P and doing VOIP but I'm a little turned off by VOIP after hearing some disadantages
Found this topic after doing a Google search for the same question...what I've found over time:
-HTC Flyer 3G - can be made to work as a GSM voice/text device with some work, and works on T-Mobile 3G; drawback being that it's ~$450 (like $200 more than the Wifi version) and single-core
-Samsung Galaxy 7.0 (original) - you obviously know about this one =P
-Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 - can do GSM voice/text and 3G/4G web out of the box; drawback being the high ~$600 price (it is a quality tablet, though), 7.7" size (I'd sooner go for a plain 7", but that's just me), and only does 2G on T-Mobile
-Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 - AFAIK can do GSM voice/text on the international version; drawback being that it only does 2G on T-Mobile
-T-Mobile Springboard (Huawei Mediapad) - from what I've gathered on the Mediapad/Springboard discussion topic on XDA, flashing the ICS beta from Huawei grants it GSM voice/text capabilities, but because of the IMEI, you're limited either to data-use only or GSM voice/text-use only (I could be wrong, but I can't truly confirm one way or the other); drawback being that there's very little support for it (doesn't have it's own board on XDA)
-Dell Streak 7 - has a dialer app "hidden" in the system, but nobody has been able to find a way to use it AFAIK
And there's a few random ZTE/Huawei/etc 7" tablets that seem to support GSM voice/text, but finding info on them seems to be even more difficult than on the Mediapad/Springboard, they seem to be pretty low-spec, and AFAIK they'd only offer 2G on T-Mobile (and probably on AT&T too).
Why companies (especially in the US) are so reluctant to add GSM voice/text capability to 7" tablets, especially ones compatible with T-Mobile US 3G, is beyond me, when there's a clear desire for it since the original Galaxy Tab 7. I'd really love a nice high-end tablet that I could just easily pop in the SIM from my T-Mobile phone and easily use.
Also, while on topic - I know you're obviously looking to upgrade your Galaxy Tab 7, but how does it currently work? From what I understand, you either have the choice of GSM voice/text and 2G web or T-Mobile 3G (not both), correct?
galaxy note 10.1
the new Samsung galaxy note 10.1 has phone capabilities right...
I am looking to purchase a note 10.1 with LTE. I spoke with a Verizon store rep and he informed me that there is a gen 1 and gen 2 of the 10.1 note.
How do I tell what generation my future tablet is? SKU number, barcode, packaging difference other indicators?
Any help would be appreciated.
gio
There is only one gen a gen stands for generation and there is currently no successor to the original. There are a few models however.
Gt-n8000 unlocked 3g version
Gt-n8013/10 WiFi models
Gt-n8020 Korean lte I believe
And then the Verizon lte variant

VZW does have a second generation of their device. The newest one is the i925.03 and has slightly updated hardware and comes with 4.1.2 JB.
Unsure why they did this, but there were initial reports of problems with the devices turning off for no reason at random when they first came out.
The biggest (and maybe only) hardware difference is another CPU, it has the same clock frequency but another architecture and might therefore performe a little different especially in those tests out there. And probably only in those as well, I doubt you can tell any difference in real life. So since the old one easily can be upgraded to 4.1.2 as well, there's no difference really.

I'm looking into the Note 12.2 Pro, but am having some difficulty sorting out the model numbers.
I see one site listing that the P905 has multiple variants.
I would like to have GPS, be able to root, and be able to install a custom 6.0.1 ROM.
On ebay, all I come up with in my searches are sellers listing their model as the P905, but then in the description it lists Verizon as the carrier. For some reason I don't see them being listed as the P905V. Is there something I'm missing? Did Verizon start selling a P905 (non-V) variant, that has no issues with root, or a locked bootloader? If so, how can I tell which vendor is selling something fully unlocked (not carrier unlocked)?
I really don't care about the data, as I have that on my Note 3. I just don't want to get locked down completely like I am on my Note 10.1 2014 Verizon edition, which I cannot root on 5.1.1, nor can I install custom ROM's.
I see there's also the P905A, but that sounds like it might be locked down by ATT and not have root or custom ROM capabilities, so that's out.
The P900 seems to be a slight drop in features, such as USB 3.0, and a less powerful processor, and it doesn't appear to have a Odin image that is as current as the P905 series, so I'm skeptical to go that route, and curious if the specs on sites that say it has GPS are accurate, as most wi-fi only devices do not, but sometimes get lumped in as a yes for that category anyways.
Am I missing something regarding the P905? Are verizon branded models out there common, but not the locked down P905V varient?
Thank you,
--bb
SM-P900 is Galaxy Note Pro wifi version.
SM-P905 is Galaxy Note Pro LTE/Wifi version. P905V is from Verizon, P907A is LTE/Wifi from AT&T, both 905V and 907A are exactly the same tablets but loaded different software customized to the provider. The case has logo and name of provider but they are exactly the same. I can swap mainboard of AT&T to a Verizon tablet or vise versa. LTE versions have locked bootloader. The SM-P905 international version has unlocked bootloader. These are all common LTE versions I know in US.
So if you want to root, buy the Wifi version which is SM-P900 and bootloader is not locked.
I've been looking for many answers for this tablet and haven't found anything concrete. So I just purchased the 4G LTE 32gb Shield tablet not the K1 from someone off CL. I noticed its only on 6.0 android and 4.4 nvidia software. And I believe it should be on 7.0 android and 5.1 software , but when I try to do a ota update it says its already up to date. I Can anyone confirm that 7.0 and 5.1 did come out for the LTE model US model? Secondly can anyone tell me what I need to do next, because I went to Nvidia and it shows only 5.1 for LTE RoW and 4.4 version for the NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet LTE USA Recovery OS Image. Ultimately I would like to have the latest features of the shield tablet and not lose LTE functionality. Lastly, I read that 5.1 was slower then 5.0 so would like to know if trying to get that version would be better, either way I can't seem to find either version. IF someone could point me in the right direction of how to get the official stock or a rooted one that works that would be much appreciated. THANKS

They have not released 7.0 for the US LTE version yet. There are reportedly ways to load the ROW Rom and tweak some settings and get LTE working in the US, but I have not tried it yet.
Do you have a SIM in it yet. How is LTE working for you? There is supposed to have been LTE changes in some parts of the country that are preventing anything but 3G and HPSD on the tablets, both AT&T and T-Mobile. We are hoping that the delay is due to them figuring out what needs correcting to get us back LTE.
The person who sold me the tablet didn't provide me with one, he was using his tmobile sim and must of lost the att sim. I would also like to know how well the LTE works. I will hopefully look into getting a data plan just for the tablet to test. How is the LTE for you? Also have you installed the RoW version or installed a tweaked ROM version?
P.S. I called Nvidia tech support to ask them the same question the first tech said he needs to research my question and will get back to me in no more then 2 days. So I called back to speak to another tech, his response was that he was a level 1 tech and that the Level 2 tech that had spoken to me before will follow up me. SMH...
I am still running the US Rom. I am on T-Mobile and have not seen LTE so far. I live in Colorado and have also tried in Salt Lake City. I have only had the tablet for a few weeks. You can read through some threads here on XDA or look over here: https://forums.geforce.com/default/...let/lte-t-mobile-issues-since-october-2016/1/ and see that LTE has been having some problems since October.
You can see here for trying ROW Rom https://forum.xda-developers.com/sh...eriment-flashing-ww-lte-firmware-lte-t2951111
And here is @Frankenscript trying it before knowing that LTE has become a known unrelated issue https://forum.xda-developers.com/shield-tablet/help/how-to-lte-speed-lte-tablet-running-row-t3583778 He had quite the adventure. I now consider him an expert on this.
Just follow the thread on stock recovery images and OTA with guides under shield tablet general and you're good to go.
