Ahh. The "OTA" in your thread threw me off - I thought it was an OTA update.zip, hence why I didn't click it. But thanks!

No, you need to be on the NHA update.. I'll update the OP with this info. Follow this first...
I'm on ne9 rooted extreme syndicate. Can I just do this in ss or do I have to Odin back then update. Thanks

NHA only, see the OP. I just updated it.
Changed back to the original instructions to get to NHA for now untill I have some more time to make or get the proper firmware for a easier upgrade.
Anyone got some success getting the NHA Kernel to boot on the Dev. Ed. S5 ?
I installed Misterxtc's zip file from the OP and it worked fine, but I notice it didn't install the NHA kernel. When manually installing the NHA Stock Kernel from here the phone do not boot (stayed on the Galaxy S5 and Padlock screen).
I tried installing the NHA modem and NON-HLOS.bin, but I got the same results.
Any ideas ?

I didn't add the kernel path in the zip but am uploading another with the path in it. I thought flashing the stock kernel would lock the dev edition...

My understanding is that flashing the Retail Bootloader lock the dev. ed. not the Kernel

Not good, I don't know what the problem is either. I'm not familiar with the dev edition but it is working fine on the retail.

Newest stock OTA zip inside, will someone root it for us?

OTA file to bring the m8 on Verizon up to 4.17.605.9 and patch stage fright exploit.
Would a dev be kind enough to put together a rooted version on this? I do not know what else is included in this update so feel free to grab it from my Dropbox and tear it open. ? thanks in advance!

adb pull /system
Hi Andy!
I haven't installed the OTA on my phone. I have twrp so it fails and I just didn't want to chance losing root by flashing back to stock recovery.
Anyone else want to give it a go and get this man the system pull??
Thank you Andy!

Might as well just flash the firmware and stock rooted rom then. :good:
Full stock rooted is purely stock, plus root , insecure boot and busybox.

You know it just really makes me wonder. I ruu'd lollipop firmware and accepted the ota while I was still on stock android recovery. Well to make a long story short , I installed 2 highly rated stage fright detectors and ran them . And of course I failed miserably. So what happenned : HTC & Verizon got together and pretend to patch a security vulnerability with a 200 plus mb ota update to escape lawsuits... Doesn't make sense. ? . Makes me laugh a little.

Well, maybe you can answer this, can Odin this again over top of OH1? Reason I ask is I am having odd behavior with text messaging. It works sporadically, sometimes I even have to put it in airplane mode and then back on for messages to send and receive.

I am not sure, I was on the latest MM update from Verizon.
My phone got wet a few months back and my NFC has not been able to turn on since. Also, I was also having issues adding fingerprints though I could use fingerprints that were in there before. I thought maybe doing an ODIN flash may help atleast verify it isnt software related.

You always bootloop when downgrading a major version. Have to factory reset in recovery and then you'll be fine.
