anyone know a domestic HTC number that works? I haven't searched, and I'm sure it won't be hard to find, but if someone knows of the number off hand, it would be helpful. Thanks
Interesting I haven't had that problem at all. Does it do that with other earbuds? Could be the phone.
I would totally just try a different set of earbuds or headphones...
And not worry about getting a replacement from HTC. Maybe let them know of the problem, but a pair of crappy replacement buds to replace crappy earbuds definitely don't sound like a good idea to me, may as well upgrade them.
I don't get shocked with my bose earphones, but I like the music control. Guess I won't earphone when the phone is plugged in.
Those aren't headphones those are the HTC taser rods.Once people realize how much your phone costs you're going to need them.
Next time read the manual.

Lmao. I wish my phone came with a user manual on how to use my taser rods.
I don;t know how you guys are getting these earphones in your ears, they're huge
Mine sound like the speakers are blown out. It rattles when there's bass.
My friend was listening to one earbud and I the other. She jumped and complained of getting shocked but I felt nothing. Later that night at work I had them in and got shocked after a while as well.
yea, i get shocked too when i am listening with the headphones but only on the right ear bud and not the left. but when i hold the line it seems to ground it and i dont get shocked anymore
just a little annoying when it happens

you also could use it as a mobile defibrillator ;-)
Why bother, these must be the worst headphones ever. I have gone back to my SE ones that came with the Xperia X1

Agreed, They are quite painful to use. I use either my Koss sparkplug, or Sony in-ear earbuds. These help with the audio/video/youtube media with low volume too.
LOL i was like wtf, when first got shocked! it does it all the time, only in the right bud though, never the left...
Sick earphones
awkward.... i find the stock earphones fine! ^_^ tested on phone and on good sound card. bass is fine for stock. and no distortion at high volume! ( thats also tested with the phone and soundcard from laptop). Fits like a glove should fit. Lovin it. as to getting shocked lmao.... I've yet to wait and feel.
My heaphones sound great as well. I called HTC and they know about the problem but supposedly they don't have any replacements yet, that I should try again at another date to see if there is a replacement. I kept the number, its not found on their website so I figured I will bother them again one day.
Have you tried having the phone plugged in while you listen to the music? works like a charm for me...a sadistic charm....
I was getting shocked for a while before realizing that it all depended on where I placed my phone while using the headphones. When they were in my gym pants/shorts they would shock me due to the static electricity. I haven't had any problems with jeans, etc. I think polyester is the culprit.
This is not a deal breaker for me, but it seems to be bothering my GF more than me. We both came from Sprint with Evo's where the speaker was awesome. It's been well noted that the speaker on the MT4G is not that loud and crackly at max volume, but has anyone else noticed that the audio through headphones sounds fairly unremarkable? It sounds kind of distant, like listening to a recording of a recording.
I'm hoping this is just a driver issue and can be improved by an OTA updates or some innovative dev. Has anyone else noticed this as well?
My speakerphone, while playing a video for my kids, actually seemed louder than my Vibrant's. But I can't speak for anyone else's. And I've never seen anyone with an EVO, so I have no point of reference.
Sounds okay to me, though. I have used the headphones to listen to radio for the first time, earlier today. And it seemed ok. Perhaps one of the music players with better sound settings...

The MyTouch 4G loudspeaker sounds much better than the tinny weak N1 speaker. But to be honest I don't expect too much from the phone's speaker. I haven't used the earphone output yet because in my car I stream music via bluetooth. The sound via bluetooth is much better than on my N1 and has less interference and crackling.
It puts the G1 I came from to shame.
Now that this phone has officially launched, I'd like to get an idea about the audio quality of the Sensation through the 3.5mm headphone jack. Audio quality is a huge deal for me when it comes to purchasing new phones so please be as detailed as you can.
i to would like to know, im coming from the Nexus S with the one hack i forget what its called havent use my Nexus S since like March, damn o yea its called Voo Doo sound. And it sounds ****in amazing excuse my language its just that great in ear headphones with voo doo. I would like for the Sensation to be better or @ least on par with it.
Also, someone who has the phone can tell us about the quality of the external speaker and if it is any better than that of older HTC phones. The one on my desire really sucks in comparison with the Galaxy S or the iphone.

Someone said it was an improvement over their previous HTC phone (I think it was sjgore saying it was better than the Desire HD)l
I can honestly say the sound quality is good and clear. Lacking bass though and not loud through the speaker

I'm also very curious on this as I'd value such a device as an audio player to use with audiophile headphones (some of the ones I have are low impedance IEMs, others I'd use with portable amplifiers like the Meier Corda Move), mostly to play flacs.
I've owned the Samsung Galaxy S and the audio quality was pretty decent, flat, black silence and so on. Wondering if this latest HTC is better than previous HTC models.
I only care about the 3.5mm jack audio, not the speaker.. don't use that for music.
sound
And as the whole quality of sound on Sensation? Slightly better Desire HD or well?
Im more interested about the speaker quality when you talk to someone thorough the speaker phone.. can you hear the person loud and clear? can he hear you clearly?
yea like the guy 2 or 3 post above me said, im wayy more interested in the Sound Output from the headphone jack. Ive heard that the Thunderbolts external speaker is absolutely amazing like the HTC Surrounds so if the sensation is on par or even better than those 2's then itll be great for internal speaker. But im not sure about external output to the phone
The sound quality is great on the phone, it is louder than a stock DHD and the quality and bass is perfect through the headphones especially with the SRS effects. The headphones I am using are Sennheiser cx400, it would be wise to use a good pair of headphones
Audio quality TI Audio chip v/s Wolfson 8994 ???
HTC Sensation if "TI Audio chipset" then crappy sound.
If HTC sensation comes with "WOLFSON 8994" then amazing sound.
Still looking for the HTC sensation internal motherboard pics or plan.

Are you talking about the sound quality through headphones or the loud speaker? I could care less about the latter.

Wrong. Preamps dictate the sound signature of the phone. DACs don't matter as much as you think they do. As long as it's clean, we're good.
Preamps
If preamps Over rule on sensation, thats a great news. Thx for the correction if the Sensation is carrying a preamps.

+1, except that I'm using Sennheiser CX 300's.
can anyone comment about the loudspeaker quality when talking to a person? can you hear him well without distortions and vice versa?

Wrong.
Crap in crap out, if the source is low grade, the OPA will do nothing to change that. I'm not saying that DACs are the most important thing, but they are definitely at the beginning of the system. Of course, the very very beginning would be the sound file in question.... FLAC(which stock android wont even support), or low bitrate MP3.

I am aware of that fact. But us users can actually do something about the source files that we play. FLAC and ALAC support is included with certain apps like PowerAmp so it can remedied to a certain extent. Audio hardware however, can't be modified so easily; you're basically stuck with a certain audio setup once you buy the device. So am I right on point this time?

Well my point is, while the DAC is definitely not the most important part of the system, it is more important that the OPA(optical parametric amplifier), which you said was more crucial than the dac. .
This fact is only applies for 99.99% of circumstances though, you could be the oddball with the full sized headphones that are hard to drive... but really, if you're going to spend $200+ on headphones, you might as well get a portable amp along with it.

Lol I am that oddball And I do have a portable amp btw. I just really hate walking around with it since it isn't very portable.
Interested in other people's opinions on the S6's internal DAC. I just bought a Beyerdynamic A200P because it was on sale for $140. Eager to try it out I waited all week and received the unit last night and have been testing it for hours, doing many between headphones and ports, and honestly, I really can't tell any differences.
I was under the impression from audiosnob (audiophile) posts that the S6's internal DAC was basically garbage and that spending $70 or more on a simple accessory would be a night and day difference. I'm trying real hard to notice if there are any subtle differences but all I'm really sensing is volume differences; audio doesn't feel cleaned up, soundstages don't feel any wider, and I'm starting to suspect maybe it'd just be better to stick with the S6's standard hardware rather than carrying around and using other hardware.
The s6 internel dac is one of the best in the market for mobile phones. You wont need a dac for headphones you have. Only reason external dac is recommended for studio headphones with high impedance because they need the volume and power to drive them.
Comparing between external dac and the wolfson internal dac is nihil for your setup and just overkill
I was googling some questions and came across some threads/comments, they were old, from just at the time the S6 launched. I already knew Exynos SoCs typically had Wolfson SoC's, but that didn't keep people from ****ting on it. I didn't know why, I thought it sounded great, but when I don't have certain equipment people rave about, then I'm pretty much forced to take their word for it and try it myself. Never having a dedicated DAC for my phone(s), I didn't know what to expect, how much different music would sound, and to my surprise, I couldn't really distinguish any differences. Without a reference to go by, I don't know how good or bad I have it, I guess I just didn't know that I wasn't missing out on anything.
I think the lack of time I had to act on the sale rushed my decision.
Your not the only one who got misguided by those who are calling themselves audiophiles. Thats why im telling you.
Anyway you should try combination dolby atmos with vipermod. Gives a very nice bottom/fat sound and mid boost which i like alot

gj,thx
Im currently using cos 13.1 and it has really ****ty audio from headphones. Even my old nexus 4 beats the crap out of it.
Any rom that has better audio or is it the phone itself?
I'm in the same boat as you. OPO don't seem to have a good DAC anyways, and the COS 13.1 really does not help with the audio either. If I can't find a good ROM, I'll most likely get an external DAC, like the Fiio Q1 or something. Anyways, very interested in seeing what the community has to say on this.
Tugapower sounds pretty great. It comes with ViPER4Android which gives a pretty good output after some tweaks.

I just noticed that clean flashing my cos was the fix. I think it was Viper4audio that muffled all the detail.
Now it's way better. Not perfect, but way better.
To expand on Viper4Android;
I recently installed V4A and I don't think I can ever go back. The sound quality is just amazing and it makes my $70 Sony headphones feel like a pair of Sennheisers (maybe a bit of an exaggeration).
I recommend you give it another shot, and play around with the settings, as well as maybe trying out some IRS'. It might take you 5-10 minutes to set up, buy I feel like the quality is worth the effort.
If you're not interested in V4A, you can try A.R.I.S.E which is an excellent alternative.
