Have you looked in accessibility settings to see if you have narrator or something enabled?

Go to settings > accessibility and disable talkback
if this not working go and ensure that you don't have an application called lightflow cause it make several problems including this one

Notification sound volume ?

How to change notification sound volume separate from ringtone volume?
It seems that they are merged.

Through xposed framework, you can separate it.

I found a solution... just install the app called "volume butler" on Google play store. With the help of that app you can change notification volume irrespective of ringer volume.
Hope this helps !!

Replacing the default launcher

I am using Apex launcher but the middle circle always routes me to the default launcher. How do I change that ?
Apex has the option to be set as default launcher but this need some tweaking to happen.

Chinese wake up word pronunciation

I have the AL 10 version. I speak American English, I need the pronunciation of the default Chinese wake-up word. Then I'll be able to wake the device and change the word to my own choice.

Thanks for the Chinese pronunciation help. Will try

Ok thanks the pronunciation works, then using same tool you'll get the Chinese writing for ok Google, device will wake up to ok Google. But it's not the Google app. So it talks back in Chinese. This experiment is a bust.
Thanks for the help

What you can do is make an app using activator or similar which opens Google Voice Search, give it a Chinese name you can pronounce easily, then use the Chinese assistant to open that app.
It would work for OK Google, as long as you don't have a screen lock.
Unfortunately, there is no smoother solution. It might be possible to rework the innards so that the Chinese wake up word could trigger Google Voice Search, but my phone's bricked so I can't play around with it

Use tasker, create three profiles Display On, Display Off and Hivoice.
Display On:
trigger : on display state on
action : disable Hivoice app
Display Off :
trigger : on display state off
action : enable Hivoice app
Hivoice :
trigger : App Hivoice
action : app HiVoice diasabled
wait 1 sec
unlock device (another task)
wait 1 sec
Trigger Voice Search. (There are many ways to do this. i use "secure settings" app)
I guess all of above is self explanatory for anyone who knows tasker. And yes, this works for me.
Thanks will give Tasker another look I have found it more complicating than I was able to cope with. No worries Will give a look. Thanks.

HI - I gotta ask about tasker - does clearing all apps also kill tasker - my app of automation choice is Locale - which is repeatedly getting killed by Mate 8

Yes clearing apps will remove it, even if you protect it via phone manager > battery manager > protected apps.
You don't need clear apps urself, huawei emui clears unprotected apps automatically. Protected apps will be saved from auto-clearning.

Alright [emoji3] with embarrassment for someone with Android since version 2.1, I've failed to tasker it like you've mentioned. Are these commands transferable as in can you give me yours? I'll try again also cause seems learning tasker is useful, thanks

What do you mean by "disable Hivoice app"? Killing it? Doesn't work for me on P8 max
