I heard that the s6 edge has some feature to prevent the year from accidentally hitting the edges. Is there some sort of feature for this on the regular s6?

Thinking about picking up the S7 but coming from a note 3 I can't imagine going down to a 5.1 inch screen. I'm hesitant to buy the edge version because I feel like the phone cannot be protected nearly as well as other phones. I take great care of my phones and they all stay in otterbox defenders but they don't make defender cases for the edge. Basically all that glass exposed on the side is scary to me. Looking for other folks opinions and thoughts.

Not concerned my friend has the edge s6 and he always breaks his screens doesn't use a protector or case and his screen is emaculate. Will put a protector on and a case so think ikk be OK
Just use a standard film protector, cheap and they apply well if you take your time.
There is a major difference with the "edge" phones and regular flat plane, and that's the touch response is muted on edge phones. You have to intentionally press, whereas on a flat screen like the s6, you can touch with feather light presses. I know somebody has experienced this too, and it's not just me.... I guess if anyone else has had this too they can let me know and hit the thanks button...
I've honestly never had any major touch responsiveness issues with the edge. And I've owned the s6 edge and edge plus. You just have to make sure you aren't tapping the bezel area.
Thanks for the responses. I'm mostly concerned about side impacts. If my current N3 took a hit too the side it's protected. I know there are threads on this but can you guys suggest S6 cases that work well to calm my nerves haha
Surely a reputable case company that has an s6 will also offer one for the s7

Hey folks ,
My newly purchased Galaxy S7 Edge had the Gap issue , i could basically slide a paper through the gap between the edge screen and the frame on both the left and the right sides. Some people have it on top or bottom. A huge number of people have it and most don't realize it. If you do tho , fear not ;
We had a chat with Samsung Australia. The edge gap problem seems to be present in their reference device as well. Plus i've been told by the Samsung Tech Support that the gap is normal. My device has gaps on both left and right edges. I can slide a thin paper inside. I can confirm that even with the gap the device is indeed waterproof. Mine didn't have any issues besides the fact that dust gets in and out of the phone which sorta betrays the purpose of an IP68 certification. On the other hand , we still don't know if this is a major problem. The Samsung rep that helped me through this issue documented our conversation and will be showing that to his superiors to be examined. Hopefully we'll get an official statement addressing this soon.
I'll be posting the images to our conversation below.

I have UK model Edge and can not slide a piece of paper under the edge. Sounds like a production to me?

Regular papers don't go in really thin ones do , did you try something like rizla ?
I would struggle to get anything under to be honest.
There is no gap on mine
Has this S7 thigh gap issue been resolved?
It's one of the few times that a "thigh" gap is not welcome.

it would be nice if you could snap some pics of the mentioned problems..
I just discovered on the top left of the front, I have a gap. I don't know who to contact as I am in the US and Samsung US won't support it.

How about water proofing?
Have you check it ?
Mine has gaps which can fit paper but is 100% waterproof i think its there for the same reason the note 4 had it. Dont stress unless it's the top that has a gap then go get it changed

I never put my phone in water before lol
I'm looking at getting a used S7 Edge, but there are some small cracks on the back, would this impact the functionality of the phone?
Shouldn't do, the back has a glass layer, probably just cracked that

Nope. You can even get the glass replaced.

Used this screen guard on my Note 10 Lite. After application and ensuring no bubble anywhere near the finger print scanner switched it in.
At the first shot it did not read the prints. However after deleting the stored prints and registering them once again they worked well.
A little extra pressure was required for a good read.
Pressure sensitivity for the SPen was also Ok
Only issue is that it's not an edge to edge screen guard. However I'm ok with it as does not snag onto the edges of the case when taking the phone out for cleaning.
Any case you have ordered for it

Can you write all the way to the edge of the screen? I saw one report that with Samsung Notes app this wasn't possible.

No a small bit gets left out. However while naturally writing it's not noticible but while sketching sometimes there is a drop off as you reach the edge of the screen guard..
I use this one : perfect, no difference with or without !

I second that it's not possible. Any reasoning behind this?
Does anyone know how to disable the accidental edge touch detection feature? I don't accidentally touch the edges due to using a case, and when using the edges to scroll the phone feels "laggy" due to thinking I'm accidentally touching the edge and not responding straight away.
There's a setting on Samsung phones for this, but not on here. Maybe ADB or something?
Thanks everyone.

Thanks but I want to remove the accidental edge detection, in other words I want my edges to be fully functional and respond straight away.
