Hello,
I just bought the Galaxy S6, coming from the M8. I like the phone but I cannot stand the audio quality from the speaker or from the headphone, it's been bothering me quite a bit as it is a big part of my daily use. Is there anything to fix or improve this? I'm already rooted, I tried dozens of EQ's from the play store but none of them work because I use spotify. I also tested the audio options from the settings, and they didn't sound very good either. Any help would be appreciated, thanks
I came from the M8 also, and I agree, headphone audio quality does not meet the M8. I did read something about the internal DAC being crippled by Samsung. Still on the lookout for the perfect device!

The M8 audio quality was awful. Maybe you've been spoiled by bad audio.

I installed Viper4android, after installing the driver and rebooting, it sounded no different at all, so I went to the driver status and it showed that it was "abnormal" status and not enabled. Is this because of the Exynos CPU? I used Viper4android on previous devices but never experienced this issue

Make sure you select COMPATIBLE mode in viper settings, that made it work for me.

Tried setting it to compatible, the sound did not work after rebooting until I enabled everything in the settings, but there is no difference in sound whatsoever, nor in the headphones or the speaker, I tested multiple times with so many presets, it is all the same. :/

Make sure when you open viper, you turn it on in the settings for each device, like headphone, bluetooth, speaker, etc....

I've been using this headset for a long time now. And I would like to use it with my desire as well. But the sound quality is so poor that it's like listening to a 56k mp3 file while actually I'm playing a 320kbps mp3.
It seems to me that somehow the bitrate on the bluetooth connection isn't high enough(very low actually).
Does anybody here know how I can change that easily? Or do you have any other solutions for this problem without buying a new headset.
btw, I use a Sennheiser HD215 headphone or the SE in-ear ear buds.
thanks in advance
I'm using the SE MW600 and I have no problems. Using stock rom with the update.

Good for you, but I would like to know how to adjust the bluetooth bitrate on Android.
sorry if I sound a bit grumpy but I've been searching for about 1,5 days straight and still found nothing.

No actually I never touched these settings because they were already enabled when I paired the devices. And I figured it would be quite crucial to have those settings enabled if I wanted to use those profiles.

Was hoping you would conclude from my post that there isn't a problem with the Desire regarding bitrates over bluetooth. Does the headset work on other devices without problems?

Ok, I know that for example the mw600 headset from SE works fine. So I think it's just the combination of devices, but that would be solved if I would be able to alter the bitrate.
I have used the headset with other devices without any problem, other than that I had to set the bitrate higher on a WM 6.5 device.
I have always had a lot of low end sound when in a call on my skyrocket (always as in before root) making it hard to hear someone who mumbles or has a lower voice.
w or w/o headphones still have problem. *moreso referring to speaker on phone though
I have tried a plethora of eq's but none seem to affect incoming call sound.
flashed beats audio (by fuss132) problem got worse.
is there any root level eq's or any way i can boost my mids and decrease lows on calls?
I would like to know too. My new A9220 is too trebly but an EQ might help.
Have you tried finding volume+ on google there's a forum that has a free app in it
CM9 Skyrocket
Thanks I have downloaded volume+, the paid version but I need root access and I've been unsuccessful in rooting so far. Any other product suggestions welcome. Volume+ say their speaker quality function is experimental and it doesn't seem like it gives the ability to EQ the incoming call but lets hope it helps or this phone is going back....

What's the issue with rooting? where you stuck at?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
well, I've tried superoneclick, unlock root, gingerbreak and loading from SD, none of them get through the process. I have USB debugging on etc...I don't know what I'm doing wrong, I wondered if I don't have the right file for the SD method. This is my first Android phone.
Use Odin

Ok, got it rooted. Now I need to make the speaker usable for calls. Volume+ doesn't seemt o EQ the speaker, just allow me to increase the volume. Any other suggested apps or tweaks?
Did you get volume + from the market or the one from the forum i.was talking about

found engineers menu (via dialpad) with audio adjustment so that might help. Will run through the options provided.
I have the Sony noise cancelling earphones and they've always worked fine. I've just tried plugging them in and they suddenly keep appearing as a stereo mic rather than earphones, meaning no sound will play out of them. Any idea how to sort this out?

have you tried with different earphones to see if the fault is on your device or earphones?
Yeah, other earphones/headphones seem to be working fine with my Z3. The pair that I'm having the problem with seem to work fine in other devices.

have you tried going into sound in settings and go into headphone settings and see if you have chosen correct earphons there and if you have, try changing it to general headphons and see if that makes a change.

Dont think so but we'll see
I just got this phone last night and spent the morning rooting it to install viper4android and Im pretty disappointed at how low the volume is with this phone even with everything maxed. My $40 budget Samsung blew this thing out of the water volume wise.
Is there no way to mod any of the sound files to get more volume from the DAC? I notice there is no default_gain.conf like Samung phones and Mixer_paths.xml is blank. This is a great phone but the sound is an absolute bummer.

Pair V4A with Dolby Atmos. This is what I did and volume drastically increased.

He already did.
After adding Atmos to the v4a I was able to get a small increase by turning on virtualizer and volume leveler. It's still not too my liking but it definitely is better which I am grateful for.
There is nothing you can edit manually as far as gain or headphone volume in any config/XML files on this thing? These audio apps are able to make a difference but it's nowhere near enough. On my phone the 2/3 volume to full volume really doesn't change at all only the slider changes position.
some dev could pls try to port stereo speakers mod which is available for mi 3 which makes earpiece has speaker
Guys:
I did install successfully Viper4android on the NOte 3, using this link:
http://downloadmodapks.com/install-viper4android-on-miui-9-all-phones/
However its a little complicated, and everytime i flash a new rom, it becomes too much work to re-install...
So my request, like the tread we have too install Gcam with Magisk, if someone could create some kind of file to simplify all this operation.
Just for the record, as audiophile guy:
There is the sound from Note 3, and THEN from VIper4, MUCH SUPERIOR!
Magisk modules by Viper520... and by Shady... works good.
MiuiEu 9.5.x
Dear friend:
Yesterday i did install Viper using Magisk. Soon i arrive at home i can test if it woks...
Note aside: Didnt clean Mi sound original...
Well after some tests:
It works, but the sound is nothing special and looks too "artificial". Sometimes Viper4 doesnt activate.
Im comparation with my "old" Find 7, the sound just....sucks.
Tests were made using professional earphones KZ ZS10 and KZ ZST, Poweramp and rock and classical music....

So, you're saying that installing the way you referred on the first post provides a better sound than installing with magisk?
I've installed with magisk, it works, but doesn't do much.

They are audiophile phones.... better than 98% users use....

Agree.....
I always set the Viper on the mini tower(BT) and then I make the correction for the headphones.
Try the #Viper520 version, choose an older V4A(2.3.4) during installation.
Here are some IRS/DDC profiles for popular headphones:

For Mi N3 you need usb-c or very good bt headphones.
U can try also AinurJamesDSP, AinurSauron, AM3D, Dolby-Atmos M modules(disable V4A 1st, maybe need AudioModLib). I cant find best for you.
On my old Oppo, sound is great, but the Note 3 it really....sucks, Even stock.
Tks...gonna try those!
Have a good vacations
