Anyone have the galaxy s6 bootscreen without a carrier splash screen? i have the tmobile version and the white tmobile splash screen that pops up is ugly
Just go on Sammobile and download the firmware for the unlocked one for your country and update with Odin! That's what I done, I'm sure it will work for America as it does for English carriers

Use a file explorer app (I use ES file explorer) If you use ES file explorer you must go into settings in the app and turn on root explorer then tap on root explorer and read write permission will show up and check all bubbles on the right. Then go into device/sytem/media/ scroll down and change bootsamsungloop.gmg to bootsamsungloop.gmg.bak then reboot. Wala no more bright a$$ T-Mobile boot screen :good:

This sounds like it'll work considering that with this one they all use the same processor. Kind of the how the HTC'S work. But I stock file has partition info and stuff. I wouldn't do anything that risky just yet.

To add to what was already said, you can disable the noise if you go into /system/media/audio and rename startup.ogg to startup.ogg.bak.
I downloaded the custom ROM in "Galaxy S6 android development" section and replace in system/media everything that contains the word "boot" and "shutdown" with the ones in that zip, works great. Only thing, the shutdown animation didnt change, still is the carrier one. Of course you have to be rooted

I use root explorer to copy and paste it into system/media
I take it you are doing it the adb way. Haven't used that in forever.
I would recommend trying root explorer (dont know if 15min trail is already in effect)
If you use it dont forget to mount R/W prior to pasting to allow you to overwrite
Also im using CM 6.1 but it should work with most roms

You can download it from the market its not free but worth the money. Put the bootanimation.zip file on your sd then with root explorer simply copy paste it to system/media make sure mount r/w is on at the top right.
This isn't intended to be flashed via recovery

To extend it you would need either more frames or to lower the frames per sec in the txt which would make it slower. Open the txt and you can lower the framerate from there. I think its set to 20 or 15 currently
I made these for my HTC Desire HD but they might work on the Nexus One as Well
I made these 2 boot animations based on the Co-op loading screens on Portal 2. Yes the files are large but I think they look pretty good. You can use root explorer to replace your existing one or do it via ADB but don’t ask how never have done it via ADB.
You are welcome to mod them as you see fit but.

I have this ROM: Inspire 4g Stock ROM Optimized--Root, Deodex, zip-aligned, HSUPA, non-market ap....
Is there an easy way to kill the AT&T boot animation when it starts up? I like the stock rom, and I like all the crapware has been removed, but the AT&T Rethink Possible silly animation on this ROM drives me nuts. Any way to remove it?
thanks!
Bella, this thread will likely be moved as it's a question and not development. As your other thread was moved.
Second, it's in System/customize/resource. I wouldn't recommend deleting though, replace it with something else. Loots of boot options on XDA.

OOPS! Sorry I didn't mean to post in here again... my bad. Apologies to the mods.
Can you give me a link to what boot animations I can easily replace it with?
Also, I think related, any way to get rid of the reference to AT&T in the app store? I hate knowing this is an AT&T phone, hehe

Having a little difficulty applying these. If I power down, then press POWER and VOL DOWN to boot into recovery, do I have to wipe or clear cache or just apply zip or how do they work?
Thanks!
Mudknot made it easy for us. In that thread he linked to, download the bootanimation you want from the list that IS flashable through cwm. Boot into clockwork and choose to install zip from SD card. Find the bootanimation zip, select it and then answer yes to the "are you sure" question.

If your using ginger bread then it won't work.. If your using froyo all you will need to do is flash it. You don't want to do a full wipe because it will erase everything. Cache and Devlik are entirely up to you
It won't work on gingerbread because I haven't had time to flash gingerbread, and update the update script.

Just to make sure your using the correct one. The bootanimation.zip files will not flash through cwm. If you are trying to flash them use the ones that say flashable through cwm should be post Number 4. If you want to manually do it. You are going to need a root explorer (ie. super manager, es file explorer, root explorer) you will need to make sure root path is selected and that you have the build mounted as R/W. Copy the bootanimation.zip you want to your sd card (do not unpack it), and copy it with root explorer. From there you are going to want to go into your build (rootpath) and go to data>local>, then you are going to want to past it, agree to overwrite the current bootanimation.zip. Then do a full reboot.

I tried the latter and it didn't work. I'd already tried to flash with the flashable one, so after that didn't work I tried the non flashable, and copied it to that directory, but it didn't change the animation. I'm using the TPC Inspire Stock Rom and even when I followed the above process I'm getting the annoying big TPC boot animation.
I wish I could get around it :-(
Give me a few minutes Ill see what I can do.
I'm currently not able to flash the rom, but I am going to unpack it and take a look see if I can figure out whats up with it.
Do me a favor, in root explorer go to system>customize>resources and tell me if you see ATT_bootanimation.zip.

If there are things in the bloat you want, the best thing to do right now is to install the bloat and use Titanium to freeze out what you don't want.

The easiest way, at least for me, to get an app into /system/app is to use Root Explorer to copy the apk into /system/app.
To do this:
-In Root Explorer, copy the apk file you want to put in /system/app
-Navigate to the /system/app directory
-Tap the Mount R/W button on the top right
-Tap Paste
-Scroll down to the pasted apk, long press on it and select Permissions (you'll see 9 check boxes when you do this)
-Check the Read and Write buttons for User, and only the Read boxes next to Group and Others, then tap OK (once you're done, the read/write permissions under the app name should be the same as all the other apps listed (rw-r--r--))
-Reboot.
edit: Super Manager is a free app that can do this as well

Ok so it says not enough space to paste the file in system/app
ok so i got TW4 on there but now when i try to use the widgets like buddies and weatherclock etc says problem with them loading hmm anyone know how to fix that actuall it says Problem loading widget
Bloated/Debloated
Ok,
This is getting a tad frustrating. I been playing around with both debloated and bloated trying to customize what I want and what I dont want. I Finally figured out how to use Root Explorer and I still can not get certain widgets to work together.
Im trying to get TW4 with the Bloated Widgets , Buddies Now, Feeds & Updates, & Weatherbug Clock. If I installed TW4 on the system/app and then try to load the Widgets they will not load properly. That is on Bloated
I tried to install the the APK's or place them in system/app on Deblaoted and that didnt work either. Is there something Im doing wrong here.
Any help advise is greatly appericated

As far as I know, the kernel maker has to support this feature, and it's not in the stock ROM. You have to go CM or similar for this feature.

Sorry, didn't see that. Use ES file explorer for the copying, it has good error messages. Make sure to enable mounting system in ES settings. You may need to download "mount system rw" from Play Store. You could also download Rom Toolbox Pro, which will do it for you, but it costs something like $5.

Okay this could be a couple of things...
First if your new animation is already named bootanimation.zip it won't let you overwrite the existing one. Delete the existing CM10 bootanimation.zip file in the system/media directory. Now you should be able to move the new animation file to the target directory.
If that doesn't work make sure ES File Explorer has the rights to make these changes.
Go to ES File explorer settings.
3rd from the bottom it says root settings.
Click on that and check all 4 things in the next menu.
Super User should prompt you allow access for ES File Explorer. Grant it.
Reboot.
Now you should be able to move the file you want to the media folder in the system partition.
After you put in the new file you may have to update the file permissions as well. I forget what they are supposed to be but I usually just check everything as read/write for all permissions options on bootanimations.
If none of that works...I dunno...come back with more specific errors you are encountering. Specific error messages, etc.
sheesh
I've done every instruction, followed them to the letter and the default boot ani won't even go away although i can find no hint of any boot ani files anywhere. it appears to function as it should, deletes the files, moves the new ones, file permissions are ok... there's just no change whatsoever, it's kind of baffling. my tablet may be possessed by he devil.
Waitwaitwait. You're saying there is NO bootanimation.zip in /system/media and it still has the stock bootanimation? Try doing a system-wide search for bootanimation.zip using CM file manager. If it does come up, note its location. If there is no bootanimation.zip in the correct folder, Android will play one hardcoded into the kernel, an image of flashing "android" text. So if there is no animation in the right place and you still see the stock CM one, you are putting it in the wrong place.
Posted from my Fascinate using XDA Premium
wowzers!
OK, so I realized that I didn't have cm file browser and did a search and finally did the nightly update. What a trip that was. It got stuck on the boot ani and wouldn't shut off or anything so I had to wait for the damn thing to run its battery dead. It starts and definatly has a different ani now. The whole new layout is messing me up bad, took me several hours just to get back online.
I have even more questions now.
BTW I'm on android version 4.1.4 now I believe.
For instance, apparently I still have all my apps installed because if I go to the store it says so and won't let me download them but I can't find them anywhere.
And some how I disabled that bar on the bottom that allows me to go back or switch windows and if I go into a program I can't get out of it because I can't switch windows.
HELP! AAAAAIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEE!
ok
I got the window switcher bar back, it was extended desktop option. Still can't see these apps I supposedly have instslled.
Oops. Sorry about that.

Try using ROM Toolbox Lite, it's a free app. It worked for me.
In Lineage OS 13 it's possible...
Like mentioned above - in LOS 13 from AndroidAndi it's possible to change/overwrite the existing bootanimation.zip contained in system/media. Done here with a nice Aurora Borealis bootanimation

Yeah. Strange. I tried with other custom boots and I couldn't get it to change there either. Obviously it's my method. I've tried ES File Explorer with root permissions and Root Explorer. I extracted the file you provided into 2 separate files (bootanimation and bootanimation.zip). I copied the originals and put them in a folder on my SD card.
For the file "bootanimation", I put it in root/system/bin with the permissions of rwxr-xr-x (octal code 0755).
For the file "bootanimation.zip", I put it in root/system/media with the permissons of rw-r--r-- (octal code 0644).
I've done it before but they were on much older phones so I'm betting there's something wrong with my method?
Yes, tried with new one even with boot factory it doesn't come out..mehh
Weird. I don't remember which image I got the files from. I'll post files from another image when I'm back at my laptop.
Don't know about the stock AT&T rom, but on the Claro version the bootanimation.zip is located in /cust/CLR_COM/poweron/
